I got an arm tattoo fully removed at Smooth a few years ago. It is fully gone after 7 sessions. So grateful for Carol!

They really couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming. I was assisted by Carlos who was cool as heck. I appreciate the fact that Carlos told me up front that the color in my tattoo would not come out (I have a 28 y.o. Nefertiti tat. Her crown is shaded in blue and there's also some red and green in her necklace). They could easily get the black ink out, but with the colors, the laser wouldn't be able to differentiate between the ink colors and my glorious melanin. So the laser might remove all of the color, including my glorious melanin, and leave me with a pale spot there (hypopigmentation). There's also be a possibility that the skin in that area would darken (hyperpigmentation). Carlos told me of a Complete Removal package for $1,790 where you go back every eight weeks (to give your skin time to heal in between treatments) until your tat is completely gone. I was also told of a $690 package...that I wasn't too interested in because, initially, I was going to take the Complete Removal package. Another Yelper has mentioned in their review of Removary that if the whole $1,790 is not used, you will be refunded the unused portion, which sounds awesome. I've decided to keep Queen Nefertiti with me. I came to that decision after watching videos of people with skin like mine share their stories. Before going in, I thought tattoo removal would be the same for all. If you Google, you'll see a lot of pics of tats completely removed from white skin with just a couple of Black folks sprinkled in. There's a reason for that. And the tats removed from Black skin are all black ink tats. If you're white, they can completely remove your tat; black AND colored ink. If you're Black, they can get black ink outta ya, but colored ink, not so much. There are a couple of videos on You Tube where Black gals have shared their tattoo removal stories. One in particular is very detailed and provides before and after photos. Here's the link.. https://youtu.be/g6vKaVDygi8 OH! I have to mention... There are a couple of videos on You Tube mentioning the PiQo4 and PicoSure lasers to completely remove tats from Black skin. However, those videos only make the claim. They do not show the results. After my consultation with Removary, I'd had another consultation at Disappearing Inc. Just for a consultation, they required a credit card number (if you cancel within 24 hrs, they charge you $50 for a weekday appt and $100 for a Saturday appt.) Once I was there, they also asked for I.D. When I asked what that was about, they gave me two excuses. Excuse #1: "it's for insurance purposes. We need to make sure the person who did their paperwork is the same as the one being treated." Do they really have THAT many people lying about who they are? Excuse #2: "It's just standard protocol because some choose to be treated during (the consultation)." Ok, but I never asked to be treated during mine.... Anywho, I prefer Removary because I didn't feel they were trying to bulls**t me. Nor were they condescending... Whoa, instead of talking about my dissapointing Disappearing Inc. experience here, lemme mosey on over to their page and leave it there. Anywho, if I had a recommend a tat removal spot, it would, hands down, be Removary!

My consultation was over Zoom, rep was 20 minutes late getting on and blamed me. Price was almost…read more$1000 higher than competitors, and there was no negotiating their price. In conclusion, I never even got to go to the facility, to do a full review the sales rep pushed me away as a customer.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES! DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION! PLEASE READ!…read more I went online to schedule a virtual consultation at 1030 on May 30, 2024 at the Williamsburg location. I received an email and a text message with a GOOGLE chat link. I was given the option to conduct the consult via phone with no video. At around 1030, I received a phone call from Melissa Gonzalez. I informed her that I wanted a small tattoo removed. She asked me basic pedigree information and asked why I wanted it removed. She asked me to send her a photo while we were on the phone. I sent her the photo. She then provided me a quote, which she stated was the Memorial Day special and a discount for being a first responder. She tells me I can pay the full amount or enroll in a payment plan. I informed her that I would pay in full at the appointment. She told me she had an appointment for 1300 on May 31, 2024. I confirm the appointment time. She sends me a link to fill out the paperwork. The paperwork requests my Name, DOB, address, and e-mail, and then the next page is an in-depth medical history questionnaire asking you everything about medications, illnesses, medical conditions, and prior surgeries. I answered every question, e-signed it, and sent it back. Melissa stayed on the phone with me the entire time I filled out the application. When I completed and submitted it, she said that I would receive an FT link to speak with the Nurse practitioner. A few minutes later, I received an FT Telemedicine call from Allison Jaggard, NP. The call was very brief. She asked me about allergies to medication and a prior surgical procedure. When we concluded the call, I sent Melissa a message asking if I was confirmed for the appointment. She responded that I wasn't and said she would call me when she was done with a patient. She calls me back, and asks how the appointment went. Afterwards I again ask her if I am confirmed for May 31. She tells me that I have to PAY IN FULL BEFORE I CAN SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT! I never had a face-to-face meeting, never went to the office, and never met with anyone in the office, and she told me that appointments are only scheduled AFTER payment is received in full. So they expect someone to send them 800 dollars without even having a face-to-face meeting. At any point during the conversation, she could have informed me that payment was required beforehand, and SHE DID NOT! I messaged Melissa that I would NOT be scheduling an appointment. I asked her to delete my personal information and medical history, and she responded, "It is illegal for us to delete that information. It will not be used for anything besides your history shall you decide to have treatment." I called another laser removal place and asked if I had to make a payment upfront. The response was, "Why would we ask you for a payment, and we haven't even physically seen you to assess you"?

I visited Disappearing Ink back in March for a consultation. The vibe was... Ok, I'ma be honest and…read moretell ya how I really feel... I wouldn't be surprised if the two people I'd met with were... (I feel my inner Libran diplomat wanting to sugar coat and simply say...) not comfortable around Black people. Have y'all read Carolyn F's review? I got the same vibe as that sister. So, the girl didn't feel comfortable in a room alone with me during the consultation, so a male co-worker joined and watched me like a hawk. I'd had an earlier consultation at Removary and they'd mentioned the difficulty removing colored ink from melanated skin (if it comes out at all). I asked about that while at DI. They concurred. They brought out a book with examples of their work. All colors of ink can be removed from pale skin. With melanated skin, the laser may not be able to distinguish between the ink and the melanin and remove all the color leaving you with pale patches. That said, I asked if they could show. Me. Results. On. People. Who. Look. Like. MEEEEEEEEEE. Like, lemme see the results on Black folks, mang! All I'm seeing in this book are non-melanated folks who've had their tats completely removed. This is a waste of time...unless they think I might refer any non-melanated folks I know who want to have a tat removed to them (I'm not). At one point, male co-worker says to me, "but YOU're not going to get those results...", dripping with condescension. To which I replied, "and that's why I'm waiting to see someone in that book who looks like ME." As gal showed me their price chart, I asked if I could take pix. Their price charts are laminated. One of the photos that I'd taken had glare from the light above. When I mentioned it, male co-worker looks up as if to say, "glare from what?" The glare is visible in my pics. They ask for credit card info before you can make your consultation appointment so they can charge you if you cancel within 24 hours (Removary didn't do that, but...) Several places do that. I get it. While I was there, they asked to see my I.D. That was naggin' at me, so I later asked what that was about, I got two different answers. One, "it's for insurance purposes. We need to make sure the person who did their paperwork is the same as the one being treated!" (Yes, you must fill out paperwork for a consultation) I replied that I was only there for a consultation and at no point, did I ask to be treated during. Ugh. Then I got answer #2, "it's just standard protocol to ask during the consultation because some do choose to be treated during!" Again, at no point did I ask to be treated. Anywho, when the consultation was over, the guy was all friendly. He was happy to see my black a$$ leave, lol. I was happy to leave and matched his enthusiasm. So, here on the marvelous Yelp, you have two Black folks, Carolyn F and myself, lettin' fam know that you're gonna get some juicy negative vibes if you go to Disappearing Ink. So, don't. I highly and high-key don't recommend. The vibe at Removary was much more welcoming, inviting, amiable, down to earth (don't let the fancy Park Ave address fool or deter you)... Removary was just all-around cooler.

I can not believe how easy it was to start my eyebrow tattoo removal process…read more Storytime: I made a mistake and got my eyebrows tattooed almost 10 years ago. I was promised that they would completely fade within 2 years. They never faded and in fact they started to turn a blue ish grey color. To have this corrected, I had my eyebrows microbladed twice in hopes to cover up the mess that was previously done by the first tattoo. I got fed up and started researching different procedures such as the Lift method (saline microblading) and was told that I wouldn't qualify since the tattoo was so old. That person pointed me in the direction of Pico sure laser. I began searching online and found Disappearing Inc. Solution: I booked an appointment online and met with Darcy. She is very meticulous and knowledgeable-she takes her time to go over the entire process in details. Darcy is very welcoming and answered all my questions. The entire time she made sure I was comfortable and informed. The whole process was completed in a matter of minutes. Darcy took time and explained to me the after care procedure as well. My only regret is not coming here sooner. I already booked my second appointment and look forward to working with Darcy again.
