I'm so glad Smoke Soul Kitchen has opened up a brick and mortar on Third Street! I love coming here for brunch. My favorite is the sweet creme pancake (so fluffy and perfectly complemented by the maple butter) with a side of protein and eggs. I've also had the chicken and waffles which was a great mix of salty and sweet. The service is attentive and easy to order at the counter. The ambiance is comfy and feels like you're in someone's living room. It's also home to the Bayview Makers, and they're starting to sell goods from the neighborhood. Definitely a great addition to the San Francisco brunch scene!

It's really great to have a brunch spot on third. The food was great and the coffee was also great. It felt more light roast leaning which I appreciate so much. I dug the random movie streaming In the back. while we were the only people eating there on Sunday morning, everyone working made the experience feel good and comfortable. But most importantly: This pancake yall. So good. I hope we can get some entree vegan option at some point for my partner and buds, though I know it's hard just making it work as a business on third. But still, the pototaoes were super good, not too oily or "side" feeling, really felt like a whole dish in of itself. They also carry some whack donuts which is great. Everyone was happy! Just sayin, as people who live around the corner, would come every weekend if we had a vegan entree! Thanks for the extra father's days pastry!

Finally tried this new to me spot on third Street. Amazing food (as you could see from the picture - I ate it all before I remembered to take a picture) Order the counter sit down. The fantastic soul food comes to you! sort of like a truncated, Brenda, without the annoying hipsters and annoying waits. Their menu is the perfect size and it shows by the care and flavor brought to each dish. I can't wait to go back.

Breakfast Meal

Came across this stand at the Ferry Building Farmers Market on a special event one Saturday. While the chicken & waffles were tempting, I was really craving a breakfast biscuit sandwich. It was pretty darn delicious! Hot Link Breakfast Biscuit Sandwich: This is the breakfast sandwich I needed! So much more flavorful than those McBiscuits, with a great buttery homemade taste. The hot link was a great choice since it takes porky sausage and adds a great spicy zing. Perfect against the smooth eggs and cheese. I wish these were available near my office, it'd totally be my go to breakfast. Mac & Cheese: Not typically the side I'd have at brunch, but I do love mac & cheese, so why not? Lots of great browned cheese clumps. This is kinda like that picnic-style mac & cheese which is cooked, cooled and reheated. So it's congealed rather than runny. Which is fine as a picnic-style side. So cheesy and yummy.

Tasty and not greasy!

They are so friendly here. Chicken has good flavor and does not taste greasy. Shrimp Grits was delicious. Pancake has good taste and not heavy tasting, but eat it while it's hot. I would go back.

Stopped in because who doesn't need a burger topped with bacon and an egg served with fries for breakfast? As always, and third time continues to be a charm--excellent service, food and vibe. Slide in Thursday-Sunday 10-3.

5 star brunch all around! Everything we ordered was fire with great hospitality. TV to catch a game while you grub as well. I'll be thinking about that Mac n cheese til I return. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu!

The breakfast sandwich was amazing. It came with potatoes what I believe rosemary was in. It was a delicious bite. Great bang for the buck plus the owner has great personality in the service is great.

Neely opened storefront on 3rd St. Friends got chicken & waffles - 2 wings & a waffle with brown sugar butter & syrup. I got shrimp & grits - the grits were creamy & the shrimps had a nice char. Still in their soft opening phase, so expect a few bumps, but the staff is super friendly!

Ordering was easy we scanned a barcode put in our order and got our food within 10 minutes. Great customer service very clean and while we were eating, we could see that the employees put a lot of care into cleaning the tables and seats. Plenty of parking in back very spacious. They have overhead fans, but no need to turn them on because the restaurant was cool and airy not stuffy or hot. The waiters or servers always checked up on us to make sure that we were OK and if we needed anything else. This restaurant knows what they're doing! Added to one of my fav spots!

She had heard about this place from a client that she had worked with a couple weeks ago. The place had a really cool vibe to it; it's like you're stepping into a more intimate, Cracker Barrel. We were seated by the front of house pretty quickly. The space could hold quite a few people, there is a bar area and outside seating. We sat in the back by the kitchen. When we got there, we ordered a couple drinks and a lot of food. I had the okey-dokey artichokey and my partner had the respect your elders drink; both were strong and tasty. It went well with our appetizers of fried okra and fried calamari. I really enjoyed the jalapeño aïoli that came with the okra so much that I started dipping the calamari in it. The calamari coating on the outside was a lot heavier than what I was used to, but it was still really tasty. For our main entrées, I got the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and collard greens and my partner got the porch burger with fries. The fried chicken was cooked perfectly. It wasn't dry. It was juicy and I really liked putting their homemade hot sauce on the chicken and greens. The habanero hot sauce was really spicy, but I liked how sweet it was. My partner's burger was cooked perfectly and it was a big portion. I definitely recommend this place to someone who is bold enough to go on a date and still eat with their hands. Somehow, this was elevated southern food, which could be shown by the prices, but I think it's worth it once in a while.

Touch of Soul Soul Food Restaurant delivered one of the best comfort‑food experiences we have had in a long time. Every dish tasted like it was made with care, tradition, and a whole lot of love. The catfish was perfectly seasoned with a crispy golden crust and tender, flaky meat inside. The chicken wings were just as impressive --well‑seasoned, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The sides were the real stars, though. The yams were rich and buttery with just the right amount of sweetness. The potato salad was creamy and flavorful without being heavy. The greens had that slow‑cooked, soulful taste you can't fake, and the macaroni and cheese was exactly what mac and cheese should be--cheesy, comforting, and baked just right. And those corn muffins? Soft, warm, and the perfect finishing touch. From start to finish, the meal felt like a true home‑cooked experience. If you're looking for soul food that hits every note--flavor, comfort, and authenticity--Touch of Soul is absolutely worth the visit. The foot is priced just right, especially in today's economy. One last thing, the service was AWESOME!!!!

My experience with this restaurant has been inconsistent, but my most recent catering order was…read moreextremely disappointing. The first time I visited, it was late in the evening and they had already sold out of several items. The food I did try was average at best--about a 2.5/5. The second time, I went with someone who knew the owner, and the experience was completely different. Everything was excellent--easily a 5/5. Based on that visit, I felt confident enough to place a large catering order for a Black History Month event at my job. I ordered yams, dressing with gravy, greens, mac & cheese, fried catfish, fried chicken, cornbread, peach cobbler, and German chocolate cake. The total came to $590, which I paid immediately after confirming via text. I requested that the food be ready by 2 PM since the event started at 3 PM. When I arrived, nothing was ready. There was also confusion about my order--they initially only prepared one dessert, even though I was charged for both cobbler and cake. I had to show proof of my order to resolve that. As the food slowly became available, I was handed trays one at a time with no assistance, meaning I had to carry everything to my car by myself. On top of that, the cornbread I ordered was never provided. The food wasn't fully ready until around 3 PM, which caused delays for my event. Unfortunately, the quality didn't match my previous experience either. The fried catfish pieces were extremely small--more like nuggets than full portions. The dressing was undercooked and even had large turkey bones in it, which was unacceptable. The greens had excessive liquid, which I had to drain before transporting them. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. Order accuracy was a 1/5, timeliness and service (including lack of assistance) was a 1/5, and food quality was about a 2.5/5. Based on this experience, I will not be returning. For catering orders or anything from a local soul food restaurant I'd highly recommend Ys Choice.

Awesome sounds on the baritone sax, bass, and drums, with songs like Fly Me To The Moon setting the mood on a Saturday evening. To eat, we had the catfish fingers appetizer, daniel's gumbo, and slow braised short ribs. The catfish was lightly breaded and tender, the short ribs were soft like butter with a tasty sauce, and the gumbo was a hearty dish in a flavorful stew, generous with the meats (chicken, ham, andouille sausage, and shrimp). We also got the dessert special, banana pecan muffin which came with fresh slices of strawberry and blueberries, as well as a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was delightful. To drink, I tried a couple different cocktails, the Lavender French 75 and The Cotton Club. Both were really good, but I especially enjoyed the latter which was heavy on the strawberry and lemon flavors, my fave. It sets up a really romantic, cozy atmosphere for the drinks and dinner. Drinks were solid. The standout dish for me was the beef short ribs which was so tender that you can just use a fork to eat it. It is served with a red wine sauce and creamy mashed potatoes.
