Moe's does some irritating things like only offering certain things on certain days such as their sweet potatoes which they also mix with corn flakes (I hate corn flakes in my sweet potatoes and I hate marshmallows even more but you can order them without the corn flakes if you remember they do that). So far I've never seen the sweet potatoes offered here and apparently it is a totally random side they do. I mainly eat beef BBQ so this Moe's ONLY has beef on Wednesdays (they usually advertise it as burnt ends) which makes me VERY grumpy! They do have chicken and turkey daily as options but I didn't find the turkey all that great. They do offer Mahi-Mahi on Fridays which is a decent option. The main things I would be interested in here would be the "burnt ends" as it is a decent portion size, the sweet potatoes minus the corn flakes and the Mahi-Mahi. Overall the whole ordering process of only having certain things on certain days is so irritating to me I usually just go to Hog Wild Beach & BBQ where they always have brisket and I like their sauce selection a LOT more! This Moe's does have a cool location and it shares a space next door with Magnolia Meat & Grocery. This location is also right next to Wolf Bay Restaurant which offers some great lunch options. I want to like Moe's more but they seem to do weird goofy things based in Alabama style BBQ that tends to focus way more on pig than beef and I DEFINITELY prefer Texas style BBQ based on beef! So I don't know if Moe's and I are going to ever really be able to get along on a regular basis...

We love the service and of course the food is so awesome. The friendly weight staff comes around throughout your entire dining experience and provides so many awesome sides in addition to your dinner selections. The staff comes around and brings fried okra, smothered potatoes, and various other delicious southern side dishes. The food is so delicious and definitely remind you of HOME and the variety of menu items are perfect and so so so yummy. The 32 ounce mugs with your drink of choice is hilariously, huge and so generous... we also learned on this trip that you could purchase one of those jugs to go. The ambience is cool. It kinda reminds you of an old country restaurant with wooden benches and historical items, pictures, and memorabilia all throughout the entire restaurant. The biggest part and honestly a fun part for families is this is also the place that's coined "Throw em rolls" where they throw huge hat and fresh dinner rolls to your table so at any time you can see flying rolls throughout the dining room rooms. It's so much fun. I would definitely add this to your list if you are in the area to check out. The food, the service is really great and just a very simple, casual dining experience.

The rolls come out fresh and hot, and they're really good! They also come around throughout the meal with different "pass-arounds" that they serve right at your table. I tried the fried okra and really enjoyed it. There were several other options being passed around as well, so you definitely won't leave hungry. For my meal, I had the chicken wings and was very pleased. Other family members tried the country-fried steak and shrimp, and everyone seemed happy with their food. The portions are generous, and even the drink cups are GINORMOUS! Service was good and timely, especially considering how busy and lively the restaurant was. It's very family and kid friendly, and you can tell Lambert's has been around for a long time and has become an experience in itself. My biggest recommendation: make a reservation, especially if you're coming with a large group. Without one, you could easily be looking at a 45-minute wait or longer. Overall, I'm glad I finally had the opportunity to experience Lambert's. Good food, good service, a fun atmosphere, and catching a hot roll flying across the restaurant makes for a pretty memorable meal! Definitely worth experiencing at least once.

On a recent boys day out I took a few of my Buds to check out this new addition for Arizona BBQ,…read moreyeah you read right, Arizona. Colt Grill BBQ & Spirits just opened in downtown Foley, AL, and I was curious to see how their smoked meats and Western vibe would fit in with our Southern scene. This place is a big deal for Foley, it's set up in the historic Foley Bakery building, a 100-year-old landmark that's been closed since 2007. The building, at the corner of North Alston Street and West Laurel Avenue, got a major facelift over the past year, and now it's home to this BBQ joint downstairs, with apartments and an office upstairs. Colt Grill started in Arizona, with four locations there, Prescott, Prescott Valley, Cottonwood, and Village of Oak Creek. Foley's their first venture outside Arizona, and they picked it because they loved the South's charm and Foley's small-town feel. Walking in, the place feels cozy yet upscale for a BBQ spot. The exposed brick walls and custom furniture, sourced from the owner's family of furniture builders, give it a warm, authentic vibe. Brenda Marie Clouston, the owner, has a background in interior design, and it shows. The setup is pretty unique for the area: you order at the counter, but there's a full-service bar where bartenders bring your food if you sit there. My buds and I grabbed a table, but the bar looked tempting with its lineup of bourbons and signature cocktails like the Foley Bushwacker and Colt Margarita but only one pal took advantage of the spirits. And they have happy hour :-) The menu's got all the BBQ classics, but it's not just ribs and brisket. They smoke nearly everything pork, chicken, turkey, even their mac-n-cheese over oak hardwoods. I went for the sampler platter to try a bit of everything that included baby back ribs with campfire sauce, pulled pork with Kansas City sauce, brisket, smoked turkey, and a turkey brat sausage. The meats were tender and packed with smoky flavor, and the variety of sauces let me mix it up. Classic sliced white bread was served with mine but we tried the jalapeño cornbread, which was a standout, spicy but not overwhelming. The guys got a brisket plate and a pulled pork sandwich. They liked it but I thought the brisket could have been a little moist and tender. Overall the food was good and I will return. Service was friendly, though it got a bit hectic during the lunch rush. The staff was hustling, and you could tell they're still finding their rhythm since opening in early this yesr. I liked that they give back to the community every "Cowboy Cookie" sold donates a portion to Secret Meals for Hungry Kids, a local charity. The atmosphere was lively and the Western decor made it feel like a little piece of Arizona in Alabama. Bottom line: Colt Grill's a great addition to Foley. It's not just another BBQ joint, it's got heart, history, and some seriously good food. My buds and I are already planning our next visit. If you're in the area, check it out and come hungry!
