Had the best time here last night. The restaurant was filled when we walked in but the lovely hostess was able to snag us a seat. Their wine selection is phenomenal and their drinks looked great. We ordered the pretzel- which came topped with yummy cheese and sweet jalapeños. Fabulous. I had a Caesar with perfectly cooked steak. My husband had the French dip- which he could not have been happier with. The only thing we didn't love were the Tater tots. My husband had the warm cookie (peanut butter) and ice cream for dessert. We went in for an early dinner, we were greeted warmly and sat. The waitress took our drink order, explained menu's, specials. My wife ordered the French Onion soup appetizer and the Greek wrap with blood orange dressed salad. I the French Onion soup and meatloaf dinner. Absolutely excellent service from our waitress tonight. She brought our little golden doodle some water, explained the specials and some of her favorite dishes. I'm pretty happy with our meal overall. I got the salmon salad, good portion with a generous slab of salmon. . The hummus plate that I got for an appetizer was good but if I could change a few things, i'd do carrot slices and not little shavings so that I could dip in the hummus. The bread was just sitting on top of the hummus, making it rather messy and difficult to add the ingredients to the bread. The bread was toasted and warm which was nice. So maybe refining that dish a bit would be my suggestion. We sat outside and it was really nicely shaded with a good breeze. A few tables in the alley way to choose from. This place is Amazing we were going to a concert in Titusville and found this place on Yelp. We came early so we were able to sit at the bar which only has seating for 4 or 5 which was great our bartender/ waitress Moira was very informative and gave us great recommendations we really enjoyed the service and attention which were great. We both had a salad which was fresh and very good we had the Salmon and the Pork Chop it's huge and flavorful make sure to get the side veggies amazing. Splendid! I knew this place was going to be awesome given just a bit of time! The hostess greeted us amid multiple larger parties waiting, and directed us to seats at the bar because all of the tables were full. Our server arrived quickly, and she was familiar with the menu. She recommended multiple items that she had tried; we opted for the fillet and the pork chop. While we were making "foodie talk" with the server, another staff member offered to let the kitchen know we had ordered a pork chop since they were almost out of them (yay teamwork!). We skipped apps due to time constraints, and our meals arrived quickly and nicely presented. The roasted potatoes, mac 'n cheese, and brussels were all perfection. My husband and I both agreed the steak and the pork chop were the best we've had locally. The chef stopped to chat for a few minutes, and our server checked in frequently throughout our meal. I knew they would overcome the new restaurant hurdles quickly. It's still a bit noisy, but when everything else about the meal is perfect, that's easily overlooked. Made reservations for a large party on a Friday night. The place is small but in an adorable stylish way. They were able to utilize all of the space. The hostess booth is located by the alley entrance which is no biggie just a bit different than what people are used to. The food was amazing!!! This was our second time eating at the Smoke Cantina , as a family. This will not be the last. The food is excellent, service top notch and environment very tastefully decorated. Both times there, we had such a great experience that I chose to commend the manager and cook. We have all had something different both times there and have not been disappointed with any of the entrees we chose. The first time there, the manager recommended the cheesecake for dessert. We came to Franklin to celebrate the wedding of our son and stopped into Smoke Cantina for dinner when we arrived late in the day. The choices of wine, beer, and mixed cocktails was pretty impressive for a small place in a small town. There were varied items on the menu from Tapas plates to larger Ramen and Rice bowls to Prime Rib. The food arrived in a manner that allowed us to enjoy the meal, and not feel rushed, even for the late hour. The dessert was fantastic too! Our waitstaff was prompt but didn't hover. In fact we enjoyed it so much that we told our family, who arrived the next night, to definitely meet there for dinner (we caught up with them after the rehearsal dinner). Stephanie waited on us and did a great job ensuring that we had what we needed from food for some and beverages for all. Next I saw her, she asked me if I was ready for my check - still no ask if everything was OK, no question as to if I wanted anything else (like dessert or coffee). Smoke Cantina (The Homegrown Kitchen, LLC.) is a gem. The back story is wonderful - a young chef who opened restaurants around the world comes home with her family and opens a fantastic destination, in her home town, for all to enjoy. We were there on a Saturday evening and the atmosphere was very comfortable with no rushed service or pompous attitudes. We were a table of four and ordered the Provoleta and two Omakase Trios to share. The taste combination of the Provoleta was a perfect dance on the taste buds and each seafood piece on the Trio was fresh and perfectly prepared. On this night (and maybe always) there was a crab cake on the trio and it was so moist and delicious I have to go back and have them as an entree. We then moved into the Famous French Dip, the Tender Boneless Short Ribs, the Prime Filet (prepared perfectly) and the Handcut Berkshire Pork Chop. I was lucky enough to taste a few of the entrees at the table and WOW!!! I have never had a pork chop that moist, the filet was perfect and my short ribs were done to perfection and melted in my mouth. I paired them with the cheddar grits with tomato pepper chutney and again my taste buds were doing the happy dance. We were so full that we had leftovers and did not have dessert, but all of the dessert looks amazing! The service is timely, professional, knowledgeable and the flow is well managed. The restaurant is currently BYOB and has a corkage fee of $10. The prices are very fair for chef owned and freshly prepared food, the flavor and taste of which will make you yearn for more. If you are in town for the weekend they also serve daily lunches and Sunday brunch. Go relax and have a great dining experience at Smoke Cantina in beautiful Franklin Pennsylvania. read more
