This is a tucked away gem. Inside the 4H fairgrounds, it is a nice surprise. There is ample parking. I had my go to for new lunch meals, a Reuben. There was a nice thick bread grilled perfectly. With a generous serving of corned beef, good sauce and sauerkraut , this was one of the best I've had! Ordered a turkey club, to go and it was equally good. The service was excellent , especially since we had a large group. Worth going to again, and try the nice dessert selection! read more

10/10 for breakfast hands down! All you can eat breakfast buffet! Had scrambled eggs both regular and mixed, homemade sausage gravy and biscuits, bacon, toast and best dang French toast sticks in my life! So much other food to list! Bottomless coffee too! Adequate seating for large parties and families! Height chairs for the kiddos! Very spacious! Bathrooms even offered changing tables and supplies! The atmosphere was super cozy inside gave off log cabin vibes. The staff went above and beyond and were so polite! And OMG the pie selection! WOW! Can't wait to go back! Especially for the wing buffet! read more

Stopped in for lunch. Had the fish and my wife got a burger and fries. The fish was breaded in a crispy breading. It was very good and not greasy at all. It came with a homemade bun, outstanding coleslaw and outstanding white Mac n cheese . Our waitress was great and very friendly . She twisted my arm to take home a piece of blueberry Strawberry cheesecake that I eyed up before ordering I took a bite when we got home. OMG My wife said her burger and fries were great as well. The restaurant is very country, updated and clean. It is located within the Venango county 4h fairgrounds. read more

Tried their Friday night, fish fry. Fish was excellent. I chose the two piece and had enough left over to take some home. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

This is a surprise place in the Franklin, PA area. Located at the Venango County Fairgrounds it may seem to be an odd place to be open year round but it is. They have daily specials and a solid menu. They also offer a breakfast buffet on Saturday. In addition to that they occasionally offer a Wing Buffet with up to 8 different flavors. If in the Franklin/OilCity area you should definitely check this out. Service is good and they have huge desserts. Had to take two thirds of that home. read more

First visit today, and we'll definitely be back! The breakfast buffet was delish - nothing fancy, just well-executed, home-cooked "country grub". Think scrambled eggs with peppers & onions, thick-sliced bacon, and skin-on homefries. If you leave hungry, it's your own fault. Prices are incredibly reasonable too! Don't miss the retro dining tables that will probably remind you of grandma's kitchen if you were born before 1980. A+ read more

The wing buffet is amazing. So many flavors to choose from and cooked just right. The price is very reasonable also. You can also order off the menu which was good and the desserts are to die for. Thank you Todd and Chas. read more

Always a great place to eat. Food & service is very good. Don't pass it by. Owners are cool

We had a WONDERFUL meal here today... the food was excellent and the waiter was attentive and efficient. We ordered the brisket wrap and the "Turkey Dinner Bowl" (turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy in a bread bowl"). Both were delicious - in fact - the stuffing was some of the best that I've had. They do their own brisket onsite - it was tender and smokey. We finished it off with a piece of carrot cake and it was moist and flavorful. Still trying to figure out everything that was in it... pineapple? Honey? Really, really good. read more

This place is all about that "home" feeling. The service, food, and ambiance makes you feel like you're at someone's house. The one negative about that is if they get packed, your service might be slightly off due to them only being equipped to handle so many people. I really like this place and feel like a 5 star will happen on my next trip back! read more

Just had dinner here for the first time and we (3 of us) loved it!!! We had fried zucchini as an appetizer, the hot turkey sandwich, the taco salad and shrimp basket. All was delicious!! The food was served quickly and was hot. Or server was Justin, who was new, but was very good. He was able to make recommendations and was very nice. The decor was fun and very welcoming. Every employee had a smile. We will definitely be back when we are in town! read more

Definitely worth the ride. However it's at the 4h park now... Everything was awesome..!!! read more

Wow, just, wow. Anyplace can make chicken wings, they are not that hard to make and very hard to screw up. However, there are very few places that can really "nail it" and Country Grub is one of the few that can do just that. My wings were the perfect amount of crispy and juicy, they were not overcooked and were not saturated in grease. Now the sauce, oh my god the sauce, I had two of their many house sauces, called Waterloo Licker and Creeper, respectively and they were amazing. Now, there are several other house sauces in addition to all of the traditional sauces we have grown to know and love (buffalo, Cajun, lemon pepper, etc.). Normally I would take a picture of my food, however it was so good that I just didn't even think about it. If you order on Wednesdays (wing night) be sure to call well in advance. They get busy, like real busy, don't get me wrong I am not bashing them for the wait, heck I would wait for 3 or more hours and have done so for restaurants that are worthy of such a wait and friends this restaurant is one of them. But, if you don't want to hang around, call and order well in advance. Tonight, they cleared just shy of 4,000 wings! So definitely order ahead! Walking in is not the way to go on Wednesdays and if you are expecting the full menu, you will not get it on Wednesdays (just wings and fries). When you are cooking that many wings, there is no way you can cook anything else and it appears that there is no need to on Wednesdays. Oh I will be back to try out the other fare in the future, but judging by previous reviews, the menu and the care they took with these wings. It is safe to say, that the standard menu will be amazing! Stop in and I guarantee you will not be disappointed! Here is just a sample of the many awards they have won and continue to win! https://www.thederrick.com/free/polk-restaurant-wins-another-wings-cook-off/article_1ff4965e-9ff3-11e9-9631-33ff2b74169f.html https://www.sharonherald.com/news/local_news/500-hungry-mouths-and-a-ton-of-wings/article_69a7800c-d815-577d-a5bf-446fc0caa16e.html read more

Was up in the area and found this place thru yelp. Only a few reviews, but all good, so we gave it a try, we were not disappointed. The loaded fries with cheese, bacon, onions and peppers were great, and they were LOADED. The chili has a bit of a kick, the salads were super fresh. Portions were great and everything was fresh and hot. Everything seems scratch-made. Will definitely go back to try their wings. read more

A couple years back, I and a family member ate here and I LOVED the food and service both. Also, this restaurant brings back memories of the days when this now restaurant was a break room that was used as a VARHA classroom when I rode horses with VARHA. Us VARHA riders rode in the Phillips arena right across from the former break room/VARHA classroom. At this former VARHA/break room center building now restaurant, there was also a patio area where we curry combed and brushed the horses we rode. This building that this restaurant is in now I was also at during the days I showed horses for 4H while in now defunct Riatas 4H club for then, we also used the building here and Phillips arena as a starting point and ending point for the annual fundraising VARHA trail rides we had every year one day a year during autumn months. Us fundraising VARHA riders would also warm up with hot chocolate and hot coffee at the start and end of our fundraising trail rides. I remember one particular year we all rode, it was a cold wet autumn day while the fall foliage was very beautiful on our trail ride and on that particular day, we all met at building here to have hot coffee and hot chocolate in the class/break/4H conference room here at end of our trail ride. LOVE how this location of restaurant is in the very same building that was once used for all the VARHA Horseback riding, class, break, conference room and as a meeting center as well where we would all warm up with hot chocolate and hot coffee after our trail rides for this brings back those AWESOME memories here! read more

Down home cooking at its finest! If you are anywhere near this little restaurant, you need to stop in. The food (reuben) is amazing, the menu choices are adequate, and the staff is top notch.
