Pork Roll, tomato, mushroom omelette with cheddar cheese.

Smithville Bakery is a wonderful place for fresh baked goods as well as a place to have a tasty sit down breakfast. We arrived for breakfast and waited about 10 minutes for a table on a rainy Thursday morning. The whole place smells great so we were certainly prepared for a nice meal. Our server Courtney was fast efficient and friendly. We started with coffee which was refilled without being asked. I had one of the daily specials, which was a Pork Roll, tomato, and mushroom omelette with cheddar cheese. Absolutely delicious. Came with home fries and cinnamon raisin toast. These were delicious as well. This place is about as quaint as they come. It's like going back in time.

Walking in maids your immediately immersed in visual and culinary delights. From the long row of glass refrigerated pastry displays, a view of some of the baking going on and some of the original brick from this very historic building(see photo for a brief history). The walls are nicely decorated with remnants of its past many antiques such as an old mechanical teller machine, holiday decorations, antique Knick knacks and cooking tools etc. the pastries are delicious and I can say after eating breakfast I was totally satisfied with a fresh meal down to the in house made bread for toast etc. a special thanks to our waitress joy she was very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend you check this place out !

Homemade baked goods are always a smile-producer when baked to perfection and offered at a very reasonable price but to me I never think about baked goods when I think about the Smithville Bakery! Ok, I know that sounds strange, but I am pretty sure that the "Bakery" has been in business since before we purchased a home in Smithville decades ago. Longevity is truly a mark of success but to me what matters most is that the Smithville Bakery continues to provide comforting, delicious, and affordable breakfasts. Yes, when anyone suggests going to "The Bakery" it's all about breakfast. Yes, the fact that the toast is homemade matters but also what matters is that "Cheers" like feeling you get from the wait staff. It seems that everyone working at "The Bakery" knows who you are. And, frequently when you are at "The Bakery" you will see someone you know (Alright, that matters for locals but if you are visiting that "hometown" familiarity only sends off good vibes not exclusivity.). Always check the special board because some very nice surprises can be discovered there. The regular menu offers the choices you need to have a good breakfast before walking around the "Village of Smithville's" eclectic group of shops. The coffee keeps coming ... the conversation is good ... and yes, when checking out you just might be tempted to purchase some baked goods because after all this is the 'Smithville Bakery!'

We arrived at the adorable Historic Smithville at 9:30 am on a Monday, which was sadly before most of the shops and restaurants were open.  Thankfully, we saw that the Smithville Bakery was serving breakfast, and do not let the name fool you, the place was much more than your standard bakery.  While there were display cases full of pastries in the front of the space, there was also a decently-sized, diner-like room just beyond that, which was full of tables.  The décor was actually made up of antique and historical items from the town and the surrounding area, which made the space like a small museum.   The restaurant was packed, but we were still able to get a table after only a five minute wait.  Our gracious server was a pleasure and really fit the homestyle vibe.  Their coffee was bold and flavorful.  My Egg White Vegetable Omelet was perfect!  It was not greasy and included some of my favorite vegetables, such as mushrooms, spinach, and tomatoes.  It was served with crisp, seasoned home fries and house-made raisin, whole wheat toast.  It was such a satisfying breakfast!  So satisfying, in fact, that I was able to escape the bakery without indulging in any of their giant, decadent sweets as I left.   The Smithville Bakery offered delicious food cooked from the heart and an environment just as touching.

Sfogliatella, blueberry lemon bun, walnut & raisin sticky bun.

Classic bakery setting serving up old school delights. Parking was easy around 10a on a Friday morning & inside wasn't too crowded. We ordered the sfogliatella, walnut & raisin sticky bun, and lemon blueberry sticky bun. The walnut & raisin was dry; the lemon & blueberry seemed not fully baked. Both were dissapointing. The sfogliatella was perfect & made up for the other 2 items lacking a bit. This dessert takes a long time to make so it was nice to see it on the menu! If you've never had one - Sfogliatella means "small, thin leaf/layer", as the pastry's texture resembles stacked leaves. Crunchy on the outside, soft & creamy on the inside. I'd go back if the buns were fresher & made fresh.

Bacon Omelet with Pepper Jack Cheese

I went here on a Saturday morning with my girlfriend. We have gone here in the past, but this was my first time in awhile for breakfast. I ordered the bacon omelet with pepper Jack Cheese, Home Fries, Toast and Coffee. Overall, the meal was really good! I would say that the omelet was really cheesy to my liking, personally. The service was really good as well! Overall, I would recommend coming here for breakfast! They also have some nice baked goods, which are very good too.

Cute little market tucked in the almost middle of the Smithville Square shopping center. Stopped in to check it out as I've always driven past it. This time I stopped as it was around lunchtime and I was hungry. So it's a lil market that has a big display case of prepped food and a deli. The blackboard has their sandwich specials. My eyes locked onto the Reuben. You can choose from corned beef, pastrami or turkey pastrami. I went for the OG - corned beef. They liked it nicely with 6 oz of meat and topped it with the usual suspects Swiss, kraut and Russian dressing. Once it was ready it came in a cute lil brown box and boy did it feel heavy! The aroma wafting in the car made me want to open it right then and there but luckily I only had to drive less than a mile. Once I opened it there was this perfect sammie staring at me with its just right buttery golden toastiness. Dressing dripping on the sides and the pile of corned beef's As Rachel Ray would say Yum-O! I honestly ate it way too fast but I'm not even gonna lie it was worth it! So if you are like me and have driven by but never stopped in ... STOP IN! Or if you're ever in the area and need a good sammie I would recommend this place.

VERY VERY clean welcoming atmosphere - Having worked in farmers markets most of my life, including owning my own place, I can attest to the exceptionally high standards. Negative reviews often stem from those seeking cheap quality--clearly not the market's clientele. Holy hoarding!! If there was a "businesses" edition of Hoarders, this place could be on it!…read more With a name like "Sweet Tooth," I was expecting/hoping for some kind of bakery. I was sadly mistaken. I've passed this place literally hundreds of times, and thought I'd possibly found a new (and closer) location for some red velvet. As soon as I walked in...BAM, stuff EVERYWHERE! It literally looked like my Grandmom's attic. Pans, cookie cutters, decorations, baking supplies, in no discernible order, with no discernible flow, all over the place. I wish I had taken a picture; I thought I was being sucked into Charybdis. There were aisles, but good luck walking down them if you weigh over 100lbs. I really didn't even bother walking through that part of the store. I hate baking and I ran the risk of potentially getting lost. After making a beeline for the only actual food in the store, I took some time to survey the selections. A small case of chocolate goodies, a hodge-podge of Easter candies, and bins of what appeared to be home-made confections. I stood at the chocolate case for a while, but the woman at the checkout counter (which was diagonal from the chocolate) barely looked at me, let alone asked if I wanted something. Nothing looked that enticing anyway. There was a paltry selection of sugar free candy/chocolate. No red velvet anything, anywhere. I picked up an Asher's chocolate-coated crisped rice square. I don't even like "crisped rice," but claustrophobia makes me do weird things. I also picked up some of the home-made white chocolate covered pretzels, which were very pretty, and a pouch of chocolates clearly labeled "Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter." Can't go wrong with that, right? I thought the price was a little steep; $15 for my 3 items. I've had much better and less expensive sweets from the Sweet Shoppe at Smithville (dark chocolate covered red velvet cake pops for $1!!!!!) So I get home and decide to try the dark chocolate peanut butter cups, but when I take a bite.....marshmallow. I HATE marshmallow. The bin I took them from was clearly labeled "chocolate covered peanut butter." The chocolate was good quality but, yuck. That was a waste of $5! I don't really know how this place stays open. I've never seen any cars here, the outside of the building is very shabby (with an interior to match,) and the selection of goods to remedy your Sweet Tooth (that is their name, is it not?) is sad. I saw they offer a cake decorating class, but I'm not really sure where they'd fit the people. If I really need a fix that badly, I'll just go to Wawa.

I'm a baking student in culinary school so from the perspective of someone who wants to make baking a career, this place is the best! Yes, it's cluttered but its a baking supply store... boxes, cake circles, molds, tools... what do you expect? I dare any serious baker to go in there and NOT find what you're looking for.
