The logo drew me in as it reminded me of the Cape May Peanut Butter Company so I HAD to check them out. Most everything was the same so when I asked the merchant, he said it is indeed from the CMPBC (including some of the packaged good) except for the treats baked in house. This amazing store is well stocked with all things peanuts as well as a few sunflower, cashew, and pecan items. They also sell giant peanut butter cups and freshly baked peanut butter baked goods that are made in store. Not so friendly (slightly rude) service both times we visited during our stay, but the cookies are fantastic. Basically, just get your stuff and go. read more

(From the archives of July-August) While I really don't get the appeal of the shops at "Historic" Smithville, they do have one or two which sell legit good stuff. Smithville, aka Cape May Peanut Butter Company, is one of those few bright spots. The shop itself is very much on the small side but the smell is fantastic as soon as you walk in. The first big upside is that there are a of open jars for sampling everywhere in the store. Part of this I say with snark but part is with total sincerity in that thank goodness it is that way because the prices are on the high side and it would stink to invest in something here that you didn't like. Of the things I sampled, everything was a total winner. I can't say I tried them all because certain things like the chocolate or even the natural cashew hold zero appeal for me but the honey roasted peanut butter and the butterscotch are ridiculously addictive. I also picked up a few of the cookies made with the in house PB and they were soft, supple and delicious. While they may not carry D's Nuts or Deez Nuts, Smithville Peanut Butter sells a lot of good quality stuff which are great for the occasional splurge. A+ read more

I feel I know good nut butters( even though peanuts are not technically nuts...), but I haven't been to enough specialty shops to say this is as good as it gets( though it may very well be) I do echo the words of other reviewers who praise it. Stop in and sample a few items( many were being offered) and I'm sure you'll find something you like, and that is much better than most grocery store offerings. If I was going to splurge for myself I'd go with the king of all butters, cashew. But it was Xmas time and I was getting gifts. I did buy the sunflower seed butter, and can say this was probably the best example I've had. My next visit here will be for my own enjoyment. If you like nuts, you'd be nutz not to stop in. read more

It's a small place that packs a lot onto it's shelves. Organized, clean, with a helpful staff. A pretty diverse selection of peanut butters, flavors, spreads, and some pastries too. Butterscotch, Cappuccino, Honey Roasted, Chocolate and Almond are just some of their oustanding flavors to try. We bought a bunch of jars to take home. Oh, and the free samples are a great perk.
