Bait and switch. Deceptive and dishonest! I got a quote that I liked from TrueCar so I scheduled an appointment. I attached the TrueCar quote as a photo. Ava left a message on my phone and I tried to reach out 3 times to verify but she never called back. The next day, I drove 1.5 hours to the dealership. I brought my quote to show the salesman. The salesman said that Smithtown Nissan does not do business with TrueCar and that someone acted independently to post this deal on TrueCar. That is complete nonsense. He reiterated what the sales associate said. He was arrogant and stopped the conversation to casually speak to a friend asking me to repeat myself. Being that I drove 1.5 hours to get there and the same distance to get back, they wasted my time. IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU: There are ways to fight back. Take them to small claims court. AI will guide you through the process. I have only done small claims once before but the dealership has to send a representative after they are served and that is a nuisance. You won't get repaid for your time, but you will earn your gas/toll money back as well as any fees that you pay to file in court. Most importantly, if they mess with you, get them back! It is easy! Most importantly, don't do business with dealers who don't honor posted prices. I walked out of there, called TrueCar customer support (they picked up almost instantaneously) and today I will file in small claims court for 20 dollars in gas. What they don't tell you, even under direct questioning, is that is the recommended down payment! To clarify, their "savings" is actually money you STILL have to pay. Where to begin with this dealership. I've purchased/leased many cars in the last 25 years from Honda, Toyota, Audi.....this is the most shady, dishonest dealership I have ever encountered. To begin, do not trust any price that is listed on their website. I purchased a 2023, preowned Kicks with 17,500 miles on it for my soon to be college student daughter. The price listed was $19,887, not including the $1995 down and $695 dealership fee. So, $22,577 listed for a car whose Kelley Blue Book resale price is $18,500. But we all know that prices are meant to be negotiated at car dealerships. Only when you arrive at the dealership, will you be informed that there is a $2495 "reconditioning" fee added on to the price of the car. This cost is not listed anywhere on their website. $2500 to "recondition" a 2 year old car, bringing the price of the car to $25,072. This is more than the original sale price of the car, which was $24,740. I know this because I found the paperwork for the original sale in the glove compartment after taking possession of the car. Despite my reservations, I proceeded and we agreed upon a price for a certified, pre-owned vehicle. I was told that I would also receive free maintenance for a year. This price REQUIRED that you finance the car through Nissan, and I left a deposit for the car. Imagine my surprise when I went in the next day to sign paperwork for the car and there was a fee of $1995 for loan origination. At no time did anyone from the dealership call to discuss financing options with me. $1995 is absurd for a loan origination fee for someone with an 800 credit score. Yet here we are because Nissan gets a kick back from that bank for using them to finance their vehicles. Everything is a shell game with this dealership. In a last, FU, after getting the car home and removing the paper that was on the floor of the front seat from the car wash......there are no floor mats in the front seats of the car. When I called about this, I was told the car was returned without the mats and so the car is sold "as is". And I guess because I negotiated the "reconditioning fee", I also received no paperwork stating this is a certified, pre-owned vehicle and I receive no "free" maintenance for a year. If I wanted anything more than basic power train warranty, that's also "extra". Do not make the same mistakes I made here. My daughter loved this car and that clouded my judgment. You will be nickled and dimed to death, and have all sorts of "fees" that are not stated upfront added to your purchase. What they say (promise) at the start, is not what you will end up with if you negotiate the price down. I have never experienced this with ANY car I have purchased before. Expensive lesson learned by me, but I will not set foot in this dealership again. Hopefully, this review will help someone else. DO NOT buy from this dealership. I'm not a crazy person, just a nurse who is a single mom and feeling VERY ripped off by the complete lack of transparency from this dealership. Do yourself a favor and buy a Honda or a Toyota. I owned a pathfinder for 10 years very Happy with car . I decided to buy a new pathfinder from Smithtown Nissan . the seats are defecrice. I brought it in for service 4k miles and the service manager denied to repair and stated normal wear . I then called Nissan corp and after 2 weeks they denied claim stating service rep said normal wear. they suggested I could call bayshore Nissan to get second opinion. I called 3 times and they did not want to get involved . I then spoke to mfg and they denied claim stating normal wear . I contacted BBB auto and sent video and went to arbitration they approved replacement when they viewed the video of the defective seat . The seat leather is bubbling and you sink in seat about 6" . They had no problem taking over50 k but do not want to take care of the customer . I now see my other seat is doing the same thing . Do Not Buy A 2025Pathfinder defective seats and Nissan corp will deny repairs and just cause a lot of wasted time . look on websites and you can see a lot of complaints about the seats. Today I went to Smithtown nissan to order a part for my suv. I am handicapped and there was a spot for me. I saw a black suv back up and parked in the area of blue lines. I pointed to the handicap sign and that he did not put a placard in his windshield. He smiled and waved me off. He parked in a way that when I pulled in, I could not park and get out of my car. I ended up parking illegally. When I entered I realized he was an employee! I made mention of the parking situation and the salesman looked and said there was room. I told him I tried but because of how he parked, I could not open my car doors. I went to order my part when I saw the salesman talking to a man wearing an arm sling. They were looking directly at me while talking and each had a look of disdain on their faces. I felt very uncomfortable. I paid for my part, where the staff were kind, and left with the same looks from them. I decided to call and speak to the manager. I left a message. That was 12 hours ago. The way I was treated was horrible! The spots for handicap people, like myself, are there for a reason. Parking in a way that I could not access entry felt like it was done frequently. They promised me things with the lease of a 2024 Murano and never made good on them. They owe me mats, full tank of gas, 1 year of oil changes The vehicles have always been great. Bad experience here. These terrible reviews are alarming. Fortunately we will not be purchasing a car here and never got even close to that point. They made a xerox of my license to test drive a car. No one else did that. I will be calling them to make sure that is destroyed. I don't trust them to be frank and will be making a complaint with Nissan corporate as well. The first salesman was so nice and then he had left when I called again a week later to look at more cars. Now I can see why maybe. Long story short, used cars advertised at around $16-17,000 on their site as certified were actually going to cost $20-22,000 and more so $4-6000 more! And who knows what else would be added on in addition. This is pure deception. And for what? Eventually you have to tell people an actual price to negotiate. You can't embarrass or coerce people to pay what they don't want to. In addition, the second salesman was condescending / rude a few times. ordering us around, making a snide comment that my brother who sat in the back on the test drive " really wanted me to drive him around". Front backseat driving me- telling me how to drive etc. I didn't want to drive the car on the highway so we drove briefly on mostly back streets. I saw one of the cars the day before and it had a small, but big for small, white spot on it which was scratched off paint or paint from another car maybe. The car was black so it stood out a lot. This time it was gone and had 3 small scratches. I commented about that and he was basically calling me a liar and said there wasn't a white spot there, etc. I wish I had taken a picture of it so I could show it to him. It wasn't a major issue, but the fact that he even said that was ridiculous. The last straw was when we had to sit there for more than half an hour trying to get actual prices. He went away to the office at least twice, and we were left sitting there after I already told him I was tired and I wasn't feeling well. Eventually he did give us some prices hand written sloppily, and then we found out it was really going to be four to $6000 more than we thought- then for some reason the manager had to come out, so we had to wait again. I can't remember why now. And he insulted us again due to me not liking football and walked away without saying whatever he was called out for. I wanted to leave at that point and I wish I had before that even happened. What a waste of my time. Tell people what the price is in the first place and then they can negotiate it to lower it, not to add $6000 to what they thought it was. I said to the salesman I could just buy a new car if I were going to pay this much and he said then you will pay even more. lol. I had no intention of financing but my brother wanted to see both prices. He also insulted me about my credit rating... at some point he thought my brother wanted to get a monthly payment rate, and he said he couldn't give us that because I don't know what "her" credit is somehow I get the feeling this dealership is anti women. There are no women selling cars here as far as I know. Before that he had told us the price listed on their site was not the real price if you were going to finance it because there was about $2000 down as well. And in addition there would be taxes, and they wanted to charge $695 for the title papers / paper work etc. which is crazy. We went to another dealer I believe it was Kia where they told us they only charge $125 for that. This is a clear rip off and I feel they are deceptive so I would avoid them if I were you, unless you like being insulted when you don't feel well and you could potentially be spending a lot of of money with. I test drove a car at another Nissan dealer where they were polite and did not seem to be pushing us a lot etc. I never got out the door prices there so I don't know if they would do the same thing or not. Honestly most of these places are crazy expecting me/ people to buy a car in one day? I would never do that. Things I did not like about the cars- the steering is loose, and you can't make tight turns. The interior is smaller now and the windshield is smaller, and in the maxima especially, is partially obstructed by a larger column, so it makes it harder to see. The maxima engine also sounded loud to me, my v6 sonata is very quiet. The salesman said the maxima v6 is louder due to it being a maxima so it is a better engine. I think that is not accurate and it could signal something is wrong with it. When he showed us the actual repairs that were done on the car, there were a lot of repairs that were needed- more than should've been needed for a car that had 60,000 miles. Things I did like, comfortable seats, smooth ride, and you can disable or enable things like the auto breaking. I will have to find a different car brand that has a bigger interior and bigger windshield with no obstruction. But which also allows you to disable all of the auto features that control the car. read more

My experience with the New Dealership Smithtown- Nissan and Alex Benitex was not a pleasant one. In May of 2024 I bought a used minivan with 25,000 miles on it from them. It has been a stressful experience dealing with them: This Minivan was neglected before they sold it to me. 1. Tires, they need to be replaced. But they are telling me it passed the inspection. So within 1,000 miles of driving it I now have to replace all 4 tires. 2. Oil Change- Nissan did not do the do the oil change, it's at 30 percent. 3. Left Rear Passenger Window, it does not operate correctly. 4. Lower Car Panel, the panel was sticking out. 5. Car was not clean when I got it, I had to detail it myself for over 3 hours. 6. License Plates, they were not ready for me to pick up, I had to wait 2 weeks to get them after I bought the car. When I contacted Alex Benitex about the tires: I told him I took the Minivan to the guy I have been going to for over 20 years, someone that I trust and know won't try to pull a fast one on me. I was told that the tires were in bad shape. Alex Benitex questioned me about the people who I take all my cars to. So I told Alex Benitex I will take it to another place for a 2nd opinion for his sake, they too agreed that the tires are in bad shape and all of them need to be replaced. Here is what my mechanic and All-Weather Tires guy said: They both agreed that my two rear tires are shot and the front left is worn completely on the inside so that needs to be replaced. They also said the bearings are fine. The noise is coming from the tires at 26,000 miles, and the previous owner probably didn't rotate the tires at all. I have not driven this minivan much, just mainly driving it to work. I got the car at 25,040 miles and now the car has 26,880 miles on it. That's 1,840 miles. 700 of those miles was because I needed to get the panel on the car fixed, pick up the License Plates, get the tires checkout in which I had to make 2 trips for. All of these were 4 trips over 180 miles each for me to do. Not to mention the unnecessary gas money that I had to pay and unnecessary use of mileages put on the minivan. The New Smithtown Nissan Dealership and Alex Benitex should have given me a new set of tires instead tires that I need to replace immediately. I gave them good money for this minivan. This New Smithtown- Nissan Dealership and Alex Benitex is not the place or person I would buy a use car from. read more

Went in to the dealership because online they had cars for sale in my price range. I'm checking out a 17k car, it all seems too good to be true, low mileage, in my price range, monthly payments are good, everything is updated. They run our credit, all is good. They ask me to put down a 'refundable' 1k deposit before we even signed on the car or had decided on a payment price. Somehow after taxes, the car is now 23k. We question why the taxes are so much, when for a newer car the taxes were less. That was a 6k difference from taxes. Then the guy gets flustered and brings us to his boss, who brings the car up 2k. 17k car is now 25k. The boss offers to send us a check for 1.2k and bring our monthly payments up 100 bucks so that way we can refinance. Absolutely not. Walked out asking them to refund the 1k, and it's still a pending ask. Too Long Didn't Read: Fake, low prices to tax you 6-10k at the end and after agreeing on a monthly payment option they'll ask to go up significantly. read more

4 years ago, I purchased a 2013 Certified Pre-owned Versa SL with around 8,000 miles on it. I was coaxed into purchasing the bumper to bumper 6 year extended warranty for almost $3,000. About a mo th after having it, it started giving me problems. Over the past 4 years since I have spent more money on repairs than on the loan itself. Every time I have brought it in for maintenance, they have had another excuse why it isn't covered in the warranty. Now after having the car for 4 years, I have to sell it for parts because Nissan refuses to honor the warranty and it needs a new transmission. This Thursday, after being loyal to Nissan for just over a decade and having finally had enough, I purchased a new Mitsubishi Mirage G4 ES. I noticed that the sales rep didn't just verbally explain what the warranty was paying for and what would be covered. He sat down with me and showed me in all the paperwork where in writing I am guaranteed under the warranty. Something they never did at Smithtown Nissan, and I finally understand why. Unlike Mitsubishi, Nissan does not care about their customers. They just want to squeeze as much money as they can out of you. Please do not listen to or trust anything they say at Nissan. Make sure they show you in the paperwork what will be covered, and that you hold onto your paperwork for the life of the car. read more

Ahh the holiday season. So I'm a native NYer and went down to visit my family for the holidays. After driving through awful storms from Maine and realized when we went to turn the car back on the blower had stopped working. So we rush to find someone to fix it before the 15 degree weather hits. We find this place( we have a 3 yr old Nissan). We bring it in and they say it'll be 1751.00. Ok we have no choice right? My father who is a mechanic for 38 hrs and counting says hmm that sounds wrong. He looks up the standard to put the parts in. 1.5 hrs to replace the parts at the standard labor rate of $175.00. Calls the sister store and they quote us $800 less then where we took the car. This is upsetting so we call them back and say umm why are you charging us this much more? They say well that's just what it is. What is wrong with people? They are ripping people off, I'm sure I'm not the only one. We all want to be treated with decency and respect and not taken for a ride. I wonder how Nissan would feel about this? Don't take your car here unless you are willing to get had. read more

This is a service department review. Went in for an inspection for a 2018 Rouge ended up paying over $600 for service in which $400 went for labor. The following week after the inspection my check engine light came on. When I inquired as to why that wasn't addressed during the inspection. I was directed to bring my Rouge back in, at that time I was charged an additional Service fee of over $600, $300 of that was for labor with less than an hour of work. Gullible probably...? I purchased 2 cars from Nissan of Smithtown on 4/17/23. My husband and I was at the dealer from 10:00am - 10:30pm. We worked the deal with the sales person but once we got to the finance guy, he had worked the numbers without our involvement. He also told us that in order to get a loan with Jovia bank, the bank requires that the vehicle be protected so he sold us $3500. For Each of our car For service plan plus an additional $7k for my car and $6k my husband car for bullshit coverage that he stated the bank required. Since it was late we had no way to call the bank and verify these claims. I called the bank on 4/19/23 and I was told that the only thing the bank required was insurance. After speaking with the bank for the second time on 4/20/23, we noticed that the bank bill of sale was completely different than our bill of sale including A different bill of sale number and our signatures were different as well very close but you can tell they are different signatures. Please make sure to verify with the bank so you are not taken for a ride. I gave 1 start in order to be able to post my review. We purchased cars under the old management and we never had a problem but becareful with this new management. 4/20/23 4:15 update - the bank spoke with the dealer and we received a call from the finance guy - he told us to return the car and we will loose our $6800. deposit for each car total of $13,600. wow this gets worst by the minute. We have a meeting with the finance guy on Tuesday 4/25/23 hopefully he will remove the additional unnecessary $7k plus from my invoice and $5k plus from my husband's invoice I'll update my post afterwards. The sales manager outright lied to my wife and I when we bought our car (I have it all in writing). He will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to buy a car. Horrible sales team. I went in for questions on a trade in for a newer model. They tried to low ball me on my trade in and car pricing was well above sticker price. My Young salesperson had to do a run and back to his manager to call all the shots and wouldn't give me a receipt on the price quote. In the end it was alot of wasted time with no direct answer. There's zero loyalty to previously buying a car their as well as using service dept all these years. Be careful leasing a vehicle from here or any other Nissan dealership. When we leased a 2018 Nissan Sentra we were told that end of the lease we could purchase the vehicle residual value ($12,823.95), a $395 Disposition Fee, and the state sales tax. We ended up paying the $12,823.95 residual value, $395 Disposition Fee, $1000 Dealer Fee, $1226.73 sales tax, $350 DMV Fee, $37.00 inspections fee and $75.00 doc fee for a grand total of $15,911.68. We were NEVER told at the time of leasing that all the additional fees would be included if we decided to purchase the vehicle, which only had 10,273 miles after three years. So beware...unless you are going to lease again and again from the dealer, you will be paying hefty fees not disclosed at the time of the initial lease. read more

I found this place to be the quintessential dealership experience. Cars listed that they didn't have, one price on website another when you get there. I worked with a younger dealer ( think his name was Ronnie) who was like I am giving you the best deal that you have ever gotten in your life. Said thanks and left, before I pulled out of the parking lot was calling me with a new price. Manager follows up a day later and offers a different price. Says they will take care of the reminder of my lease, but what they meant was roll it into the purchase of my new car. However I give them a second chance and go back. They show me a different car than the one I was looking for. Overall just be prepared for that guarded game experience that you can expect from a dealership. Our experience with Smithtown Nissan was in stark contrast to the lousy behavior of other Long Island Nissan dealers, which had even made us consider buying a different brand of car. From the beginning, Smithtown Nissan stayed in contact with us as we worked out the terms, loan, and logistics of purchase & delivery of the car. Our salesman, John Rodriguez, made the transaction straightforward. Ultimately, they sold the car to my mom at a very good price and we got the 0% APR financing promotion. Left my car unlocked for days without even touching it. Spoke to arty who was so nasty and laZy and kept making up excuses on why he hasn't contacted my warranty yet. I called to see what was going on a few times and he ended up refusing to fix my car and said pick it up. I went to pick it up the car was STILL IN THE SAME SPOT UNLOCKED and spoke to the manager who was just as nasty as Andy. They refused to help me because I called to many times to ask if they got in touch with the warranty that Andy claimed took forever to get a hold of but when I called I got right through and they had no record of him even trying to call. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS and I will be filing a law suit against them. NEVER GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP. I guess they were pissed it wasn't a car I got off their lot and was a used vehicle and didn't feel like working so used the covid as an excuse. Andy should lose his job for not only how rude he was and refusing to fix my car because I called to many times to see what was wrong with it days after sitting there but the fact he left my Car in a spot with no other cars unlocked for days and I'm missing valuable items in it he should be fired and the manager should be as well. The following day, After speaking with one of the internet sales representatives, I was contacted by the salesman from the day prior. He stated their desire to gain my business and make a new offer. The offer was better than the previous offers but still nowhere near what I was receiving from other dealers, specifically south shore nissan( highly recommended), I was told there was no way the offer was legit and expect to be surprised by hidden fees. He also stated that his offer was a "real offer", to which I asked why he didn't make me a "real offer" yesterday, he didn't have a good answer. I then asked for the actual numbers they were giving for the my trade in and new vehicle and he wouldn't. The cherry on top was finding the vehicle listed on truecar for over 4k less than they tried charging me. All in all,the process lacked transparency and just made them come off as dishonest salesmen trying to take advantage of someone. This is the worst car dealership I have ever gone to. They are dishonest, crooked and deceitful. I find it interesting they have 2 and a half stars on here and 4 and a half on Google. Wish I could give minus stars. They had a lease buyout in their hands and could not answer simple questions to seal the deal. In fact, they were trying to sell us the car for $3,000 more than was on our lease contract. They never answered our questions, like what will be our monthly payment, what is the interest rate? They kept saying they need to run our credit but did not, even after we said they can go ahead and run it. They kept wanting to sell us a new car. The finance guy kept giving us the run around until after 2 hours, I gave up and walked out. I told them it shouldn't be this difficult to do a simple transaction, especially since we just needed some info before we signed for the car. We went to the Nissan dealer in Riverhead, worked with Lexi who answered all our questions. We had papers signed and was out the door within an hour. I will never go back to Smithtown Nissan again, EVER! read more

I've been leasing cars from them for 15 years. My maxima came due and didn't care for the deal on a new lease. I extended the lease and then found out Nissan Finance no longer allowed the extended payment to go toward the residual. I went to Smithtown since they wouldn't talk on the phone about a buyout deal on the maxima. The finance manager added fees way beyond what Nissan Lease told me. I walked out and they lost a customer. Contacted another dealer that did it all by phone and the Smithtown price was $3000 higher than what I paid for the car. read more
