If you are looking for fair priced souvenirs Abe's Gifts is the place to shop. ( yeah, I know the titles are the same but it depends on what kind of charter we're on) Driver's there are plenty of bus parking right along the side walk next to his business. There are wall to wall souvenirs for your memories to Washington D.C. including kid toys. I'm not going to wave on and on about what's inside go see for yourself. Like I told my students "Don't let your eyes overload your wallet ". With his prices, you will walk outta there with unique souvenirs for everyone you know and love and even more for yourself. Oh yeah, his drinks are cold and goes down just right on hot days like today! I recommend Abe's because Tour Groups as well as the Charter Driver are on a strict schedule. As a driver, we can only drive 10hrs a day and the many groups we charter desire we drive the entire 10 hours. If I was a passenger, I would want the same seeing that they rent the bus for the entire drivers 10 hours. If I can elevate a stop AND keep them happy that warms my heart AND I can get to the Hotel on time, in bed so I can rest my nerves. Now speaking as a Professional Tour Driver, it's VERY important that our passengers are happy because if they aren't WE get stressed because they start to complain about every little thing we do. Majority of the time, the passengers ask for our OPINION for the best places to eat AND shop. AS a tourist myself, I want the best bang for my buck when it comes to spending my money in ANY capacity. As the driver, I NEED a great spot to let them off AND shop/look around if I can. I am always the last to exit the bus BUT expected to be back on the bus when RHEY are ready to leave. No one likes to be kept waiting. Time is VERY important for us all, I/we can't afford to waste time in lines. On my FIRST visit to ABES on the request of the Tour Guide, I was able to find GIFTS for myself and loved ones without paying for over priced unique gifts. Up to date, 90 percent of my gifts for myself have been magnets and shot glasses. I'm not spending another dime on them being that I've later saw the same glasses and magnets I could buy the same magnets at a truck stop and CHEAPER. I don't buy my family many souvenirs because they chunk them in a drawer or regift them at Christmas. As I mention in majority of my reviews, I'm watching EVERY penny I spend and not be a frivolous spender. Talk to you later on my next review!!

This is just one of two gift shops in the Kennedy Center. This is on Level A and the other is on the Hall of States (the main level). I spent more time browsing. Soundtrack CDs, jewelry, clothes, books, and a section devoted to President Kennedy and his wife Jackie. You can purchase replicas of some of the items you see in the center such as a miniature bust of JFK that is in the main lobby as a paperweight. Song lyrics, ballet slippers, children's items and toys, socks, the list goes on. It is a very diverse gift shop related to all the arts. Please be aware of the fact that you are paying premium prices for some things you may find elsewhere or may be getting inferior quality. For example, I was looking at musical notes earrings that appeared nice but when I looked at the make they were either in silvertone or goldtone. Earrings I am particular on because of the post or thread and I never buy them unless I know what that part is made of. I was thrilled however to get a real Hamilton tee and a small notecard and stickers. The notecard is an exact replica of the behind the stage Hamilton autograph wall patrons do not see in the Richard Rogers theater in NY. That image is signed by famous people and celebrities given the privilege to go backstage. For $4.00 you can't go wrong. I was able to find for my husband a book on the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' Sgt Pepper album. He knew about this book but hadn't been able to find it anywhere until I saw it here. My only disappointment was that there was nothing related to the Temptations show which literally blew me away. There is a 2nd gift shop downstairs by the parking lot but time constraints did not permit me to visit it. This is truly a wonderful place to shop or just browse. I really loved how they dressed a mannequin in Hamilton show lyrics on a ladies corset dress in the display window. People are friendly and do help you find what your are looking for and will go and check sizing if you need it.

Like every mall just about everywhere, they are without some businesses. But, I will say this about the DMV area, even with some shops being empty, the malls still know how to draw people in. Even if it is just for the food options. This place has a ton of food options and some of the places in here are the only place in DC to find them, or at least a place where it is fairly easy to get to in order to visit the business. They got the run of the chains you would see in almost any food court. Charleys, Five Guys, Jamba Juice, Moe's, Panda Express, Starbucks, Subway, etc. But there are a lot of mom and pop stands mixed in. You can definitely find something for your lunch or a quick snack. This is one of the only places I have seen a Church's Chicken in the city. It can be a maze walking through here, especially if you arrive via Metro. But like I said, it is a great passageway to get yourself to areas without having to be outside. With the Spy Museum on the one end it's a great place to spend a day in the city. The Wharf not too far either. There are a few shops throughout as well. Mostly open during daylight hours if you need to grab a thing or two. Everything from a post office to a convenience type store. If you are lucky enough to work nearby, I am sure this is busy around the lunchtime hour.
