On their website, The Ollie Closet says that they're the best vintage store in Lafayette, and I…read morethink that declaration might be true. This is a dope store with some really interesting threads. Have I sold it enough to you with my adjectives? Just go and visit, and you'll see what I mean. This vintage store is two stories of clothing, accessories, shoes, hats and miscellaneous paraphernalia from bygone decades. Everything is well organized (I would even go so far as to say that this store is pristine!), and the racks of clothing are spaced out nicely, so it doesn't feel cramped at all. In fact, the store is very bright and airy and pleasant to walk around. Upstairs, you'll find more clothes, but also a corner with a couch and a movie playing on a TV. You can just sit and chill for a while, if you want. When I visited, it was some black-and-white film playing on a DVD player. The prices are about what I would expect at a well-curated vintage clothing store. They have a lot of good stuff here, and they know it.

Since I work outside the home, I arranged for someone to be at my house to assist with the pickup. This was challenging, as most people I know have jobs. I highly recommend them! His pricing is so reasonable compare other places.I reached out to 5-6 places before agreeing to go with Arthur! I'm so surprised he only has one review right now. He deserves more so I'm writing this review to make it his second review :)

I've been dancing Lindy Hop and swing for close to 5 years. I've bought many pairs of dance shoes,…read morebut always online. I'm now taking a tap dance class, and tried out this store this afternoon in order to buy tap shoes (wanting to try them on before buying, and spend my money locally). Unfortunately, I received the WORST customer service of my life. Absolutely horrible. Snooty dance people running this store, I walked in and was not even ACKNOWLEDGED for close to 20 minutes. They had several other customers, but I stood 2 feet away from a saleswoman and she didn't even look at me. Finally got some help, bought the shoes quickly (as I need them for class this weekend and don't have time to order online), left even faster. HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED. Buy your dance shoes online or elsewhere, these people don't deserve your hard-earned money. I work in Customer Service and worked retail for several years - I would NEVER treat a customer this badly. Thanks but no thanks, Less-Than-Enchanted Pointe.

I understand the previous reviewer who said she had to wait a long time to be waited on. That was…read moremy initial impression too, although I was acknowledged upon entering. I waited 15 minutes until I had help but I took that time to look at the selection of merchandise. The reason it took a while was that she was helping a young dancer with her ballet shoe elastic. And then it was my turn. The store owner couldn't have been sweeter and more patient with me. So my take on the situation, based on my experience, is that if you have patience, you will get phenomenal, knowledgeable, personal service and not be rushed. My next bit of advice: Pay close attention to the website which lists the very, VERY limited hours. If you cannot come during those hours, call and you can get info on how to arrange hours by appointment. They are very accommodating! I visited to look for ballroom dance shoes. Because I wear a hard-to-find size (10.5), I was skeptical but dancers from my class suggested I try anyway. I was amazed at the huge selection of shoes in every size and color imaginable! What a treat to have multiple pairs from which to choose! If you wear a 10.5, you know what I'm talking about! She purposely makes sure to keep a wide range of sizes including very large and very small shoes. The owner was very knowledgeable about shoes, feet, materials, dancing, etc. She asked about my concerns and my foot issues and she rushed around, producing pair after pair of shoes in my size. After weeks of searching, purchasing and returning ballroom shoes online, I finally found just what I wanted. I also wanted a certain color for a special occasion and she searched catalogs until she found a pair she thought I would like and then, at her own expense, ordered them in multiple sizes so I wouldn't be disappointed when I returned to try them on. And I wasn't! So, yes, it may take a few minutes to be waited on but it will be worth your wait.
