I purchased on GunBroker a 1975 Colt Cobra from these guys that was beautifully displayed with no issues indicated in the listing. I waited for it to arrive and picked it up from my FFL. I got home and opened the cylinder which flopped open and then would not close? I messaged Ramz's explaining that there was an issue with the gun and the cylinder latch was not catching or locking into place, I had in essence bought a $1500 paperweight! I spoke to a Joe Fields from the store and sent him a video showing the cylinder was not working properly and expressed a desire to keep the gun as he was going to ask the consigner who supplied the gun to them if he would pay for the repair? I shipped the gun off to the Colt Custom Shop requesting an estimate of what the problem was and the cost to repair it? I got a call back from them as they are the only place to have Colt work done. They explained that the gun had been refinished and someone had not done such a great job with it, The cylinder locking mechanism for the yoke needed to be raised up as the amount of dreck & dirt on the inside of the gun over the past 49 years, it appeared it had never been opened or cleaned for that matter. I contacted Ramz's to explain the cost to fix the gun and get it into working condition was $690. I did not speak to Joe Fields this time but the manager who was argumentative and verbally just a dirtbag. He starts screaming at me you had work done before we approved it. This was the furthest thing from the truth as the work had not been done yet. Then I spoke to Chad Ramz and I am going to take a wild guess here but I suppose Chad Ramz the owners son hired the sales manager as they both had the same persona and attitude over the phone, THIS is not our fault you must have done something and we never authorized this repair. Typical narcissistic personality. So in hindsight if you are buying something from Ramz's Emporium and your not dealing with Joe Fields then be forewarned you are dealing with lying dirtbags who only care about winning and nothing else. They sold a firearm that wouldnt fire. Is that still a firearm? or did I just pick up a $1800 paperweight? I ended up paying the repair from the Custom shop myself because now I can share with the world how Ramz's Emporium actually does business. Not so great. Below are 2 pictures, the first one is from them on there GB listing. Claiming the gun was perfect and ready to go. I wonder if they took the necessary 4 minutes to open the gun or not? hhhmmmm? The 2nd picture is from the Colt Custom Shop who is by far the most honest & reputable place in the country to deal with when it comes to Colts, I trust no one more about this subject than them! It would appear from the 2nd picture that maybe this gun has some issues? I will let be the judge? In closing if you are planning on buying anything from Ramz's Emporium be forewarned it might not be as depicted! Eric Stevens

They don't close at their posted hours, and will turn you away if you want to buy something 15 minutes before they close.

The shop is very clean and, unlike many stores of this nature, you can walk around without fear of creating a domino-effect of falling knick-knacks. I saw a really interesting German bicycle here recently - it was from the early 1970s and was made in West German, which I thought was neat. The shop owner was very knowledgeable about the bike and was able to tell me a little history on it. If you're strolling down Main Street and are doing some shopping or have some time on your hands, Main Street Mercantile is a great place to have a look-see.

I'm afraid to say that being a retail business is hard, and sometimes people get worn out from it. That said this is a solid shop, and there is a lot of inventory that changes ALL THE TIME ! I know I've been there and bought stuff for 25 years!). The owner operators have hearts of gold, but it's hard to show it every day for 30+ years! People love the quirks of the "TV show" people, but when they encounter real people... run to the internet and "trash them". Be kind... it's a store that is unlike any other for 200 miles or more. They support the kids of this community in many ways for many years, sure they may have pissed a few people off, but like I said, they have hearts of gold and more often than not are kind and helpful. Running retail for 30 years isn't easy.

It is worth a trip to Battleground to check out Shoup House. It is located in an old, two-story…read morehouse. The outside is kind of cluttered and could use some attention, but don't let that keep you away. The inside is great. Lots of rooms, as typical for an old home, and every room is full! They carry antiques as well as some reproductions and decorating, but if you are looking strictly for antiques, no worries. There are plenty! Nice ladies run the place, and they are always good to work with and fun to talk to. I always come away with several items, often unusual and cool stuff. There are a couple of diners/restaurants in town, so it is a nice destination for lunch and a bit of antiquing. So, all in all, Battleground isn't really an antique town, but for us, Shoup House is a destination, in itself. Go, but save some good stuff for me!

While visiting Battle Ground, IN to see the historical, Tippecanoe battlefield where General…read moreHarrison and the Shawnee chief, Tenskwatwa (or The Prophet), fought and started one of the sparks which would become the War of 1812, we stumbled across another historical site - The Shoup House. There's nothing I love more than museums and antique shops so I was in 7th heaven this particular day. Shoup House Antiques is everything I want in an antique shop. It was like someone read my mind and fabricated this special place just for me. My vacation cottage is only 1500 sq. ft. with average to low ceilings, small bedrooms and an open floor plan where the common rooms are. I don't have a lot of free wall space and even less floor space so I can't really fit antique furniture (the kind that obviously belong in homes like The Shoup House or grand Victorians) in here. What I can do is buy little accent pieces to create wonderful vignettes on my night stand, shallow shelf nook, library wall, etc. The Shoup House carries antiques and European inspired reproductions. I am a huge lover of all things from Ballard Designs and Restoration Hardware, and I found similar, if not identical, items here and for even less. I bought a beautiful table top Santos figure for $9.00 which sells for $39.00 in Ballard Deigns catalog. The oval wall clock which sold out for $82.00 was $49.00 at The Shoup House. My favorite purchase though is an architectural piece where someone talented had taken gorgeous, old tin ceiling tiles and molded them against a wood frame to create a 5' long x 18" high wall shelf for only $45.00. I feel like I stole this piece. It was so hard to keep myself from buying all the things I have coveted for so long in those catalogs and in the stores, like wire cloche bells, shabby chic balusters and columns, large b&w canvas map of downtown Chicago, antique bird cages, leather armchairs with nail head trim, etc. If I could buy the house with all the antiques in it, I could happily live here not moving a thing and consider myself at home. It's also fun to peruse all the different, 11 rooms of the house where everything is organized neatly and artistically in primitive or shabby chic cupboards, armoires and shelves, on the walls, from the ceilings, in the closets, on the porch and along the staircases. Almost every inch is packed full of antiques and decorative items, but it doesn't feel cramped or overwhelming. I haven't been this in love with a store in a few years so yes, my review is long and exuberant because I'm still giddy from my visit and discovery of this fabulous antique shop.

Sometimes I stroll through without an intended purpose and sometimes there is something specific I am looking for and I have yet to be disappointed. Yes, some of the booths need their owners to take better care of the pieces they are "trying" to sell and to attempt to "display" them in some fashion but Trader Buck can only police that to a certain degree. I have noticed that some booths have big bulky items that have crazy price tags on them that you could buy the item brand new for less. It appears to me those people are probably just storing those items and know no one is going to pay that. Having said that, I know right where those booths are and they get a glance and I never stop to shop in them. The above mentioned booths that are crazy messy, take the time to poke around. You never know what you might find and you might find something you just didn't know you were looking for as I have found many good deals. It is like garaging sales without buring the gas to drive all over town. Items I have found: ~5 shelf bookcase that I converted into a Cat Tree-less than $15 ~Desk with a slide down top and removable shelves that I converted into a stero stand and albumn display-less than $20 ~Medium dog bed that has since been taken over by our felines-less than $5 ~Foot stool with removable top that I converted into a toy box for my grand daughter-less than $10 ~ White wicker small coffee table for patio that I gave a fresh coat of paint and is now an adorable night stand-less than $20 ~Whte wicker stool that I have converted into the base of a bassinet stand-less than $15 ~2 bar stools that I gave a fresh coat of paint and they look wonderful in my kitchen-less than $5 a piece!! ~small picnic basket that we use as a bread box complete with brand new plastic setting for 4-less than $20 ~beautiful clear glass lamp with frosted flowers-$4!! Her husband Bill specializes in making spoon rings out of antique spoons ($35), some spoons are sterling silver ($50-$80). You can have the ring you select sized for you. If you decide to do this, it is helpful to be wearing a ring that fits well to give him a starting point. There are many copper handmade items that can be used as the charm of a bracelet or the pendant of a necklace. Each charm is geniously displayed on metal trays held on by a magnet. I bought a gingerbread man charm ($20) and it came with either a leather strap for a necklace, or metal links with a lobster claw clasp for a bracelet. Also on display, are sterling silver antique charms that Melody stated she gets from a reclaimer (if she didn't purchase them, they would be melted down). I bought a sterling silver spoon ring ($65) and a unique reclaimed handmade sterling ring ($15). I also found a cute hummingbird pin costume jewelry piece ($5). I got an attractive silver chain necklace with a marquisite cross and a Celtic charm all from her reclaimed section. This is a good place to get a gift at the last moment and a great store to browse frequently to see what's new !
