My comments refer only to the the sweet and chili salmon meal - in the hot meal counter in Whole…read moreFoods in Gowanus Brooklyn (214 3rd St, Brooklyn) The salmon meal used to be a good deal until Sunday March 7, 2026 Before March 7 you were getting 2 small pieces of salmon each around a quarter of a pound with two sides of veggies (half pound) for $14 As of Monday of March 8 the salmon quantity in the meal is cut in half (i.e. you get just one piece) I know that because I buy every day this meal Since the portions now in the meal are much smaller it makes no sense for customers to buy the meal. Instead customers should buy the items separately and pay by weight. This is what I did today : I bought one piece of salmon $7.95 and some carrots $3.33 for a total $11.28 instead of the meal price of $14. ( I have attached today's receipt for reference) Conclusion : If Whole Foods estimates that the prior meal portions are not profitable enough they should either discontinue the meal offer and customers should pay only by weight or they should bring down the meal price to $11. Simply makes no sense to offer a meal option that is more pricey than the sum of the parts unless they believe that customers are stupid

Nine years since my first review. How time flies! And I still love shopping here…read more Though I'm a Whole Foods fan generally speaking, this one is enormous and carries so much in terms of groceries and beverages. They eliminated delivery service a few years back and as a result, it prevents me from buying as much as I'd like. I can have groceries delivered via Amazon but I prefer shopping in person myself. I particularly like their seafood department as well as the cheese and produce. The nitpick would be that it sits on top the Gowanus Canal which is a cesspool of polluted water and carcinogens. 5 stars for everything else.

You know... I'd never thought that there would be a day where I love a turkey sandwich this much…read more The clean turkey really is so delicious. The combination of the sweet pickles, white onions, and arugula is a match made in heaven for the turkey breast. I usually am not a fan of arugula bc i find the taste to be too much but the flavor is very subtle in the sandwich. The red wine vinegar isn't overpowering if you thought that was off putting and they put the perfect amount of mayo. I had this sandwich 4 days ago... and I am still thinking about it :( The ultimate warrior on the other hand, is complete opposite of the clean turkey. With the decadent pork shoulder and cheese, it's a warm and toasty and melty sandwich. Really love the addition of mama's lil's peppers I really like the sesame bread. Makes the world of a difference!! The strawberry orange juice wasn't a hit for me. Barely tasted the strawberry I can't wait to come back and try the other sandwiches!!!

My main gripe is just the value of the sandwiches here. Pricing is very steep with most sandwiches being around $17. With this much money you would expect a lot of food, but they are very stingy with the meat. I ordered the droopy and, as you can see in my picture, you only get 4 slices of roast beef. For this price, that should be double! If you charge me a lot I will expect a lot!

Produce tends to stay fresher and is cheaper than when I buy the same from union market right across the street. They also have great selection of nuts and snacks to make my own trail mix I can usually find everything I need for a recipe here especially Asian veggies which is soooo nice

One of my favorite things about K&Y is that they have lots of produce (especially Asian ones) that you can't find at TJoe's: for example, gailan (Chinese broccoli), baby bok choy, whole artichokes, broccoli rabe, butternut squash, Thai basil, serrano peppers, just to name a few. Their roma tomatoes are so much riper than TJoe's as well. In addition to produce, they have lots Asian goods that you can pick up without going to Chinatown such as sesame oil, curries, rice noodles, etc etc. This is a family owned place that also runs Atlantic Fruit & Vegetable. Can read more about this business here: http://southbrooklynpost.com/2010/01/k-y-veggies/. Highly recommend this place for fresh produce at very reasonable prices.

I dropped by today to get some Easter goodies, the savory kind. As always, excellent. It's an annual tradition for me to visit around Easter specifically for their Basket Cheese among other incredibly delicious items. This cheese is only out around Easter and sold in a basket. A must try. Here's my list from today (to name a few): Arancini with cheese only? Check. Arancini means riceballs. Roasted Red Peppers? Check. Charred and to die for. Homemade Turkey? Check. I got a divorce from Boar's Head a long time ago. Breadcrumb stuffed peppers? Check Focaccia? Deliciously Checked from my list. Fluffy and light as air with a light tomato sauce coating. Yummy. And so on. I love everything about Caputo's. From their fresh pastas and ravioli to the variety of cheese to their holiday specials. It truly is amazing. If in the area this week, grab the Basket Cheese. You will leave with a full bag and undoubtedly drop more than a few bucks here. Quality over quantity, and they have it all. .

They offer sandwiches for takeout as well, which knowing me, I had to buy one. The Italian sandwich I ordered is small but mighty, much like the store. I got it with hot peppers which provide an extra layer of heat, but do not detract from anything that makes it less of a sandwich. The only problem I had was, where was I going to eat it? That problem was quickly solved when I went down to Carroll Street and ate this in a local park, all the while looking like a Saturday slob. There are other stores similar to this one that are closer to me that are just as good, but I am happy I came here and gave this one a fair shake.
