((4.5 stars)) Smiley Coffee calm cool collected coffee shop chilling on Ludlow Street. been here only twice so my experiences at Smiley are few in instance but very good so far. the interior is a mix of dark woods and paler mellower tones for a modern casual aesthetic. there's a fair amount of clothing / merch for sale here. there are only a few areas to sit like by the window and a nook in the back. curious to see if they add tables once the shop's Christmas tree gets taken down. anyways, the drip coffee is fine--it's a light roast, i think. light roasts in general aren't my fave, but the one here is pretty good. got a Cortado, here, recently and it hit the spot. proficiently made with the espresso (medium roast) and steamed milk. a very good Cortado is a smooth creamy coffee double shot of caffeine. such rich flavor and so good when made well. had a chance to banter with the folks here about coffee and they are equally as friendly as they are upbeat. no doomscrolling here. the density of good quality coffee shops is on the rise in NYC as a whole and i hope it continues! *fingers crossed*

I popped by to check this cafe out as I have been seeing it across social media. It's part cafe, part clothing store with some bench seating indoors and a few tables outdoors. The ambiance is very cool with lots of dark wood tones and pops of a mustardy yellow. It's a very Instagram worthy aesthetic. They have a pretty solid menu of coffee and tea drinks, alongside some signature drink items. I ordered the coco matcha cloud and it was really good. My only qualm is that the drink was $7.50 and absolutely tiny. The service was warm and friendly, but I don't know that I'd go out of my way to come here again.

Loved this place! Was in the area and decided to try it. I got a matcha and it was made perfectly. A tad bit pricey but it was a really good matcha.

Cute place. Took a while for latte to come out when there's three people on staff and I'm the second person waiting for my drink. But the coffee was pretty good. I would come back and get it often. But be warned the cup is like either 8 or 10 oz for like $7+. But quality is not bad.

This is a cute coffee/ clothing shop. They have other accessories too. I had never heard of this place before seeing it on social media. Their menu looked good for coffees and other drinks. I went with the Cloud Capp as that is what the viral drink from this place is. It was tasty but comes in a small cup and for the price it's a bit steep. The cold foam disappears quick if you are not a fast coffee drinker like myself. I would go back and try one of their other drinks. The staff who worked here when I was there was very nice. So, honestly I would give this place 3 stars. But the coffee and customer service mad me it go up to 4. There is really nothing that special about this place to me at least.

i got the earl grey matcha, which was delicious! it tasted like cereal milk matcha & was comparable in taste to blank street's earl grey matcha. the price point is a bit steep for the cup size as my drink came out to about $8.71, but it's worth a visit if any of their fun / unique drinks catch your eye! not a ton of seating inside, so i'd recommend coming early to secure one of the windowsill seats.

Went to try the Smiley cloud cap .. loved the drink but I feel like it wasn't enough cloud cream on the top ... very very light cloud so it taste just like regular coffee to me...Loved the Christmas tree tho but unique ~

I've never experienced such rude workers in my entire time living in nyc. Will treat you like a piece of gum on the bottom of your shoe while you order the most mediocre overpriced coffee you could possibly imagine

cute little cafe! the matcha was alright but the cold brew was really good. a bit overpriced for the amount because the cups are TINY, like so small. a good one time visit but probably would not be back in all honesty. the baristas were really nice and the service was pretty quick so that is always a plus. minimal seating options so most likely is a pick up and go unless you get lucky and find a seat

Came here with my husband on a Sunday afternoon. I got a matcha and he got a cold brew. Both were delicious and the matcha in particular was great, not one of those places where it just tastes like a cup of milk. The place was really pretty also!

We only wanted coffee & tea yet after reading about their cookies, we bought 2! First, my English Breakfast tea was outstanding. The brand, serendipiTea. So good I didn't need to add sugar. They gave me the option of adding maple syrup. I added some Oat milk, it was delicious. Then after my 5th sip of tea I had the most delicious peanut butter gluten free cookie. So good! My hubby loved his coffee and chocolate chip cookies, he was speechless. Love this place.

Stop in for an espresso made with care, or grab a dozen of their flavor-packed cookies for the office, which are sure to impress clients and coworkers alike. I've always been a sucker for their gooey Chocolate Chunk Cookie, but today a coworker brought back the Korn Cookie, and I think I've found my new favorite! Crispy on the outside, simple, buttery and perfectly sugary on the inside. It's the kind of cookie that looks unassuming but delivers BIG on flavor. If you're in Midtown, Culture Espresso is absolutely worth the visit. (Barely remembered to snap a photo of my cookies before they were devoured!)
