I'm going to be honest, I wasn't too impressed... My FIRST impression of the office (From the…read moreoutside) was old, beat up, disheveled... the neighborhood does NOT feel safe... then inside, it smelled "old" / stagnant... the books (on the coffee table) were VERY old (80's???) and everything was / just felt very OLD / Not Modern / Not Efficient / Not 'Unkept' Office Staff seemed -superficial- (No 'depth' to them). The dental room they took me into was SUPER (I mean, EXTREMELY) cramped... TINY... and it was dark / stagnant (It made me want to jump / crawl out of My Skin...... Then I met the doctor... he seemed 'sharp' (Minded). Treatment-plan wise he told me the complete *opposite* of what the 2 higher up (at two specialty facilities) had told me.. Nice guy, but didn't get to spend much time with him.... and he did NOT check / come back to check on My Cleaning at ALL....... He never 'approved' the work or checked it like EVERY other dentist I've been to. The hygienist was NOT good... she hurt My Teeth. She kept putting TONS of pressure on My Teeth w/her instruments AND her hand / fingers (pressing on My TEETH). The Water thing kept falling out of My Mouth NONSTOP (She / they should have a 'system' for this) (I've NEVER experienced this much 'trouble' / 'issues') - the equipment felt and looked (I'm not saying it was unclean, but that it felt / looked) unclean (this repulsed me) to me... The hygienist only wanted to do an old school cleaning with the instruments and did not even OFFER me the water sprayer instrument (cavatron) - I had to ASK for it. She also didn't do a periodontal on me!!!!!!!! EVERY dentist I have been to has always done them... where they count "1,2,3,4" and check your gums. There was NONE of that. Oh, and the dentist wasn't even AWARE I was getting a cleaning!!!!!!!! He thought after a quick brief lecture I'd be done, and I said, "Um, I'm scheduled for a cleaning today......" Anyway, the hygienist (I'm not sure which is worse, the pressing HARD on My Teeth with the instruments and/or her hand and fingers pressing so hard on My Teeth I thought they were going to break), or the fact that she did not clean every tooth, and the teeth she did clean, it felt like 1/3 of the tooth. (Again, the dentist NEVER even came back to check this!). It was honestly a horrible experience.... 1/5. There are WAY better dentists at MUCH cleaner facilities between Idaho and Washington I'd rather (and WILL) goto... definitely not this one ever again - 0/5...................

My teeth were wearing out and I needed a few implants and extensive crown work to protect my teeth…read morefrom further damage. I was also born without my upper lateral incisors which caused me embarrassment for most of life. The end result was I needed quite a bit of work done to just be able to smile without being self conscious and to prevent going down the road to denture-ville later in life.. I researched several cosmetic dentists in the area and found their prices outrageously high and included hidden fees such a being referred out to oral surgeons at additional expense. I was at the point of going overseas for dental tourism, until I found Dr. Readel. Dr. Readel's price was very fair for the amount of work that needed to be done. His credentials are impeccable and he graduated from the highly selective and highly rated dental school, University of Washington. He does all of his work in house, including dental extractions, thereby saving you the cost of going to a dental surgeon. He removed my Wisdom teeth and two fractured molars. I had NO pain during the procedure and even post operatively. He crowned every tooth in my mouth and placed two dental implants. He uses safe and effective oral sedation which honestly, it worked as well as IV sedation, but without the risks. I was offered Rx pain medication if needed. Everyone one in this office is wonderful. Chis and Patty, the dental assistants are top notch. Robin the office manager is top notch. The hygienists are very good. This is a one stop shop that provides state of the art care and professionalism. And if there is a dental emergency, you will NOT be inappropriately be turfed to an ER, he will take care of you. Dr. Readel is the best dentist I have ever had and I plan to continue to go to his practice! I highly recommend this practice for both family dental care and cosmetic dentistry.

Double check your EOB's against what they charge you. We have been patients of Downriver Smiles…read more(DS) for 40 years. Both of us really like Dr Gaunt. I had $10k+ worth of dental implant work the end of 2023. Later in 2024, my husband, John, was told a second time, he didn't need to pay the $20 copay again. He asked why. They had overcharged us over $700 on my dental work from 2023 and were using it $20 at a time to cover his copay (now a total of $40 against the $700 credit). They had been using our money for most of 2024. We were shocked and asked for a refund. In November of this year, they sent us a bill for $130. The DS insurance person was snippy with him, but looked into it and not all of the proper forms were sent to our insurance company. She corrected the mistake and we owed nothing. The first of December, I saw Dr. Gaunt to get a replacement upper denture. We paid them in advance on 12-11-25. I received an EOB from the insurance company on 12-23-25 for the claim they submitted on 12-11-25. (I didn't even get the denture until 12-31-25). They had overcharged us again - by $170. The DS insurance person told John they couldn't pay us because they hadn't received payment from our insurance company yet. On 12-31-25, Dr. Gaunt fit the dentures as best as he could. I also asked him the cost of completing the implant from 2023. When checking out, although we didn't ask her, the DS insurance person felt a need to tell John again, each step of the implant procedure. She stood directly in front of me the whole time and spoke directly to John constantly referring to me as "she". She never looked at me. She never said my name. I never said a word, but it was so condescending and embarrassing. Just because I'm old and in a wheelchair, doesn't mean I am blind, deaf, and dumb. Why would she act that way to me? When she was done, John asked her if we would receive a refund. She acted so superior again and said yes and answered with the same contempt when he asked her when. A couple hours later Morris called, identified himself as the current owner of the business and said because John was rude to his insurance person, we no longer were patients at his business. And he didn't want to hear anything John might have to say. I am now left with finding another dentist to pay for finishing the fitting my dentures - for which Morris has been fully paid. Whether John was rude or not, he has sent a letter of apology to DS. Again, check your EOB's.

The front desk staff Kaycee, Natalya and Tina give you a nice welcome as you arrive. My teeth were…read morelast cleaned by Tess, who has deft hands and a very engaging manner. And Dr Gaunt...well after 10 years of visiting his office I can say he has kept my mouth incredibly healthy! And he always has interesting things to say and asks all the right questions. Do you have EXTREME dental anxiety? I do! So much that my previous dentist asked me to find an IV…read moresedation office. However, I found Summit. I was offered an appointment immediately. They've kindly offered many options for anxiety but they have various levels of oral medications (which I prefer). My hygienist, Lupe, has been instrumental in my ability to receive dental care. She had my teeth in excellent shape so quickly. She's been so responsive to my problems with metabolizing all of the numbing agents. Dr. Lopez performed a root canal and crown placement. I was nervous that like many before, he would tell me I wasn't feeling pain, but just pressure, and keep on working. I finally had dental care without horrible pain! I have a beautiful functional crown in my mouth as I type this. The shape was excellent and the bite. My family member had the very same work on the very same tooth the day before me but at a different provider. She's still very sore. She has pain, swelling and is having to face her severe anxiety again to get the crown seated in two weeks. Within hours I was able to eat. I awoke the next day with very minimal discomfort which was easily remedied. Im eating hard crunchy foods a day later. We paid the same market price for our work but my experience has been so positive comparatively. I feel like they've really worked with my needs when possible to get my smile healthy. Scheduling is always very quick and easy. They let me turn up my music and respond very well to needs during visits. I recommend this dentist in general but especially to those who want to feel like more than a number when receiving this type of care.
