After being awoken in my sleep to the throbbing pain in my jaw I decided to reach out to dental providers in the Vancouver area I started with two well-known dentists offices and was advised that unless I was ready to pull the tooth out myself due to pain they wouldn't be able to help me. Determined To get my pain under control I searched Google and Sunrise Dental of Vancouver populated. The receptionist answering the phone such a friendly voice and pleasant disposition she assured me that she would try to get me in to be seen as soon as possible and would let me know if there were any cancellations in the meantime. She called me this morning and advised they had a 9 AM cancellation. I arrived at about 845 to fill out paperwork at 9 AM was properly seated in the dental chair where my examination began. Their process for ensuring safety and and standardization is on point!! They were sanitizing frequently touched surfaces, there was hand sanitizer in each room, all appropriate PPE was worn, and yet it still did not feel like a standard business transaction. They made me feel comfortable and maintained their sense of humor . I was in and out with the first step of a root canal completed in an hour I know what you're thinking I thought it to root canals are so expensive how can I ever afford something like that during a worldwide crisis. They worked with me on payment to ensure this was taken care of. I'm driving home and for the first time in months I'm not in pain. I have found a dentist office that didn't treat me like a number or a nuisance. if you want to be treated with the upmost care and respect at a great price without feeling like someone's jerking you around or just trying to get all your money out of you... Dr. Ganji and Dr. Yu gave us thorough explanations of what we were looking at on our images as well as anything they were going to do during our visit. They even tried to keep our faces clean while they did the cleanings, occasionally dabbing stray water away, which we greatly appreciated and hadn't ever had done before. We were frequently checked in with to make sure we were not experiencing any abnormal pain or discomfort, as well. I can't speak to the comparison of cost as this is our first dentist in WA, however dental care is generally more expensive than other medical care and that was our experience, which is hard to complain about when the care was this good. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and on top of their game from my first call to my initial new patient consultation visit and my following appointment for my bi-annual cleaning with the hygienist. Terri, at the front desk was wonderful in coordinating getting my dental records from my previous dentist. Dr. Markos was very easy to talk to and put me at ease. And the hygienist, Lisa, did a thorough job with the cleaning and gave me tips on tooth care that no other hygienist had ever told me before...and I'm so appreciative for that! I haven't had the need for any dental work done yet here, just the consult & cleaning (and fingers crossed I won't need any dental work any time soon!) but just from these brief experiences I am very pleased with my choice for a new dentist.

I keep going back ... therefore, it's personally important to write an accurate and "positive" review. And not just because I'm going back in 6 months when they're going to be wiggling those sharp pointy things in my mouth or deciding if I should "get" a root canal. Don't mess with mother nature ... or a dentist. Now, Wendel Family Dental isn't the most high tech dentist I've visited; however, they probably are the most casual ever. The dentist is "Dr. Kris" (Kristine Pham) and my hygienist is Jennifer. They're cool. I wish I were as chill and didn't always freak out in the chair when I almost swallow my own saliva ... thank God for that little suction thing-y. The best part of the Wendel team is that they take care of all the billing and insurance stuff so it's easy-peasy. Signing up for text messages and email reminders was simple, too. Second best? They don't ask me how frequently I floss. They know. I know. No need for me to lie ... since she can simply look up the date of my last appointment to note the last time my teeth were flossed. It's like Regina George was a dentist ... "Stop trying to make flossing happen. It's not going to happen." It's not like I don't try. I brush my teeth like 20 times a day ... whenever THAT day has a 4:00 dental appointment. Why clean my car before going to the car wash, right? Blueberries and coffee for lunch anyone? It was a quick trip in & out, but I've never in my 40+ years of life been treated with such consideration in a dental office. I made the entire staff aware that I have anxiety, & they treated me with care w/o being patronizing. In my experience that's rare in most professional settings. I was referred to a specialist because of the extenuating circumstances, & Oasis isn't equipped for surgical procedures. I recommend Oasis, & I've decided that these folks are going to be stuck w/me as a patient for a very long time.

I explained to the hygienist that I am a redhead and that local anesthetic often does not work well for me. That has been true since childhood. If extra time is not built in and numbness is not confirmed, scaling is extremely painful, which is why I have a long-standing aversion to dental care. I used a blunt, sarcastic comment about preferring to lose my teeth rather than go through that again. I was not refusing treatment. I was asking to be fully numb before they started. The hygienist left to discuss "options" and came back with a form stating I was refusing care and should find another dentist. There was no conversation about extra anesthetic, a longer wait, or the sedation this office advertises. I called manager Marlise Montgomery after I got home. I told her I was looking for reassurance that I would be numbed properly, not a new dentist. She said I was not a good fit, told me that as a healthcare provider I should know better than to delay treatment for periodontal disease, and suggested sleep dentistry. She offered to call back after she looked into it. The conversation had already made the outcome clear, so I declined. I was not interested in hearing the same message three times. The manager was correct: I work in healthcare. That does not exempt me from pain or anxiety. It does not mean a patient who asks to be numb is refusing care, and I should not have been shamed for my experiences. I was willing to stay and complete the treatment if I felt heard. Instead the visit ended with a dismissal form. This could have been resolved by a hygienist with an ounce of kindness or grace. That is a shame, because my previous hygienist -- who is on maternity leave -- was aware of my sensitivities and was always careful, took her time, and made me feel appropriately cared for. Most importantly, I trusted her and appreciated her. If she had been there today, I believe the outcome would have been different. Up until today I liked Oasis Dental and intended to stay with them.

They have dropped some coverage with certain insurance companies, but luckily ours wasn't one of them. They have also had a lot of dental hygienist turnover the last couple of years, but they seem to have a full staff again currently. That's been tough for us because we had been spoiled with having the same hygienist for years and got to know them, which added extra comfort to an otherwise stressful experience. I've never enjoyed going to the dentist, but seeing a familiar face had helped ease my anxiety. We love the relaxing spa vibes in this office. It feels clean and comfortable, but not overly clinical like some dentist offices. They offer beverages in the waiting room, which also has a couch and fireplace, making for a cozy environment. We also appreciate that they can make a crown while you wait and watch a Netflix movie. It's nice not have to wait a week for a third party to make the crown and leave the dentist office with a temporary. The in-house crowns we're not something we've experienced before, so that's a huge plus! Overall this is an exceptional dentist office. They have a nice relaxing environment and have the capabilities of performing most dental services in-house. We would highly recommend.

I called and said I'd recently had x-rays elsewhere, can I have them transferred and get a cleaning. They said yes. I must have said 5x I wanted to come in for a cleaning and I was completely unwilling to do a "meet and greet exam" and then have to come back another day for a cleaning .who has time for that??? The day before my cleaning I call to confirm and they tell me oh no. No cleaning for me, I have to do an exam first. After I explain this is opposite of what I've been told I tell them cancel my appointment I'm not coming in for an exam and X-rays when I had them done less than a month ago already. They call me later in the day saying now they can do both at the same time if I'll give them another chance. Strange how this wasn't communicated prior. I was told multiple times it's 2 appointments. They wanted me to come in at a new time, which I could not accommodate. I also imagine most people can't be expected to change their appointment time with roughly 18 hours notice. Do they not have awareness people have children and jobs? They seems apologetic and nice but i gave up and am going back to my old dentist who I don't care for but I don't want to wait another month for a cleaning.
