Mrs. made an appointment for me. She was able to get something set up within a day. From the moment I stepped in, to the time I left, I should say that I had a very enjoyable experience at this clinic. The last time I was at a dentist, the Berlin wall was still in place! I really did not know what to expect. Receptionist was very polite and friendly. She inquired about the Mrs. as well hoping to see her the next time. Nurse was very professional, polite and detail oriented. She got all the X-Rays taken care of before the doctor arrived. Dr. Yu has very good bedside manners. He explained everything in detail, informed me & demonstrated some of the best dental hygiene practices, and in general made up for the lack of Dentist care on my teeth for the past 3 decades. I came from another care provider that was a little outdated with using x-ray films but not at Smile Dr. All X-ray are display on a screen where you can also see and have a conversation with the Doctor. Dr. Yu also educates on the procedure he will conduct and how to properly care for your teeth. Dr. Yu is so kind and professional. He always has a smile on his face and makes his patients feel at ease. I used to be so scared to see a dentist and to get a shot, but he uses so much care in his work, I am not afraid anymore! When there is an intricate procedure, they have a tv on the ceiling and more movies to pick from than I do at home. I have never had a problem getting an appointment, even though they are double booked. They make me feel like I'm the only patient and never make me feel like I'm just another number. My family and I are so happy we found him! We've been patients since they opened when Amerige Heights opened . Let me tell you about Denise! She is so kind and patient. She is never off of her feet! While my husband and children have faithfully been patients of Dr Yu for some time I wasted my time and had been seeing a dentist closer to home who was always available, cheated on my insurance, and did not provide long term care for my teeth. Pros: - Nice and clean: His office is next to Souplantation in a nice shopping plaza. The office is clean, modern with well kept and new equipment. - Wait time: None. They were ready for me upon arrival even at the end of the day. - X-ray procedures: 18 total done but I've never seen x rays done so quickly. The technician was incredibly thorough and hustled so my mouth wouldn't be uncomfortable - The cleaning: I love getting my teeth cleaned! Again quick and thorough. - The Dr's meeting: he took his time going over every aspect of my gums and teeth. He speaks with a smile, genuinely looking out for his patients best interests without trying to sell you services. He is just awesome. Dr. Yu's office is located in the Town Center Mall. Parking is really terrible. There is very little parking out front. Who ever designed this area in the strip mall is an idiot. Why would you place 10 businesses and provide only about 20 parking spaces out front. These businesses include Barnes and Nobles Book Store as well as Soup Plantation. They all get about 2 customers each? You have to park in the adjacent lot and walk over. Having said that, Dr. Yu is a wonderful dentist. For my first time, he spent a lot of time explain to me about my teeth. There is no pushiness or up-sell for more services. His staff, especially the insurance lady, is very knowledgeable. They explained to me my plans and presented a game plan with no hassle. I also love that Dr. Yu's is so close to my house, which is a bonus. read more

I've been going to Dr. Yu's office for over 10 years. Throughout the years, they have always been consistent and shown the utmost care to my entire family. During the pandemic, I had a couple dental emergencies and they saw me as soon as they could. They are actually pretty busy during this time and I'm glad to see their office working so hard to accommodate patients while being careful at the same time. She couldn't get in with her dentist for another week or two, so I contacted Denise at Smile Dr. and they scheduled my mom to come in that same night at 7pm. Dr. Yu was gracious with his time, and patient in responding to my mom's concerns. He was very honest and gave recommendations for next steps. Denise followed up later that evening to check in on her as well. After being called like way too many times to confirm an appointment for my twins, they gave our allocated appointment times away because I didn't RSVP. Why do I have to confirm an appointment that is a scheduled appointment? HELLO? I'm never going back to this business again. I don't like being nagged and hounded to confirm an appointment, that's why it is called an APPOINTMENT!!!!! By the way, we had to wait 2 months for that appointment that they gave away to someone else. Also, watch the dental hygienist touch your mouth for X-Rays, then touch cabinets with same gloved hands, and then back to your mouth again w/o changing gloves. Not aseptic technique, and your probably getting germs from other patients if this is their normal practice. Good Luck! read more

Dr. Yu is amazing! I wanna run through the streets screaming and shouting so everyone will go to him. He is incredibly personable. He really wanted to get to know me, and he was very interested in my career as an aquarist, so we spent almost 20 minutes just talking and having fun before he did my exam. He was very proud of his freshwater tank in the waiting room- and it really is a great one :). Such a funny and nice man! The office is contemporary and beautiful. He has all of the up-to-date equipment. I hadn't had my teeth cleaned in a few years so I was nervous about what would be going down, so I really appreciated that he could show me everything on the tv screen and explain in great detail what was going on and what I needed to do to fix it. My only problem was a large amount of tartar build up, and it was crazy seeing it pointed out on the screen, and looking at the effect it had on my gums. Dr. Yu is very into gum health, and the way he explained everything made a lot of sense. Not only was my cleaning the healthy thing to do, but it was also educational! Can we talk about how he did the entire exam and cleaning himself? I wish I could bold and underline this. I'm used to hygienists doing everything, but Dr. Yu really makes time for each of his patients to give the best care. As a result, though, you need to make appointments far in advance... but it's totally worth it. And oh my god. I fricken LOVE the automatic scraper tool. He was done in under 10 minutes- there was no hour long agony of hand-scraping tartar off. Yeah it hurt because I had a lot after 2-3 years with no cleaning.. but it was done so quickly and I've never seen my teeth so clean in my entire life. I left that office a whole new woman :-P Do yourself a favor and make an appointment with Dr. Yu! He makes me want to go to the dentist. read more

Just left Dr. Yu's office. Everyone is friendly, nice and professional. I'm so excited I found him on Yelp. Let me start off by saying I avoid going to the dentist at all cost. I have a misaligned jaw and so that can sometimes make it painful to keep my mouth open for long periods of time. He was extremely nice and considerate of that during my teeth cleaning. He even referred me to an orthodontist right across the street where I made an appointment to see what we could do about my jaw. I might have to get surgery to correct the issue. Eeeek Scary!! I've been referred to a few other dentist through friends and cow-workers and I was never happy with their practice. I find it funny that I found my dentist on Yelp out of all places. A few months ago I went to a dentist office where I was told I had 7 cavities!! What?!! Found that odd considering I hadn't had cavities since I was a child....Fearful, I went to Dr. Yu's office for a second opinion. Thank god I did because he said I had NONE! NOT one cavity!! So I've been going to dentist offices regularly since I can remember. One summer I had like 13 cavities. I've had so many root canals that Ive lost count- and I floss like 3 times a day too... dang genetics... So I've been to a lot of dentists- What I like about Dr. Yu is that he really takes time to explain things. He is very thorough and his office is really good about accommodating your schedule. I also like the fact that you get to pick a dvd movie to watch during a procedure and there is a big screen mounted on the ceiling. They give you headphones so you can drown out the sound of the drilling and enjoy the movie. I switched over to Dr. Yu last year and I've been really pleased with their service. So I switched my whole family to their office. The front office is also very friendly and you can tell that Dr. Yu genuinely cares. read more

One recommended too much and unnecessary procedures simply to charge me more money, and the other didn't recommend enough (didn't even bother measuring the depth of my gums). Dr. Yu goes over the test results with me and gives me options to choose from in terms of my treatment. He's always friendly and also asks how I've been doing. I came to him through a referral from two different people after a negative experience with what I call a "mouth miner"--a dentist who only looks in your mouth to see how much money he or she can make, not how they can help you. Dr. Yu restored my faith in dentists: he listened to the sordid history of the two teeth that had been bothering me, referred me to a great endodontist for a consultation, and ultimately got the two teeth fixed. My coworker recommended that I come here and I have to say that my experience was great. Scheduling several appointments for me and the kids was easy. Denise the Assistant was prompt, helpful, and kind. The doctor was knowledgeable and I love that he didn't try to upsell and only recommended what needed to be done. The place is clean and they have videos available for patients to choose from while the doctor works on the patients. They have an orthodontist that comes to the office every month on the weekends, or if you prefer the weekdays the doctor can provide you with a referral across the street from the office or you can find a place around your community. Very disappointed. Dr. Yu has a friendly demeanor, but the service I received was extremely disappointing. I came in for a 6-month clean up and Dr. Yu was about to start my cleaning. Right before he started, I asked him if I was going get x-rays taken (I was used to getting x-rays taken prior to cleaning). He then paused, reviewed my chart, and advised me that I am correct in that I should get x-rays, since it's been one year. Okay, maybe he forgot, that's not a problem. He then stated he would do the cleaning first and then the x-rays. It seemed a bit out of order, but I didn't mind and the doctor cleaned my teeth. After the cleaning, he took my x-rays and told me, as if rushed, that he will get these x-rays developed and contact me within an hour IF there is a problem. I have never experienced this kind of service at a dental office. X-rays were done in the beginning and developed during the cleaning, so that after the cleaning is done, the doctor can review the x-rays and let me know in-person what he/she sees. "contact me within an hour [about the x-rays] IF there is a problem" How will I know that the x-rays were reviewed? If he doesn't call me, I am assuming that he checked and the results were fine. If I reminded him that I need to get an x-ray, why did he state that he will do the cleaning first? Didn't he know that it will take time for the x-ray to develop? I put 2 stars instead of 1 because Dr. Yu was very friendly, but the way he went about the cleaning was upsetting. I won't be recommending this place to anyone. read more
