Amazing just Amazing Dr Yu and Denise! Recently had my root canal retreated. Need another Dentist to help recrown my current crown. Denise was able to get me in with a few hrs same day after my procedure and after hours! He didn't rush me or felt like he had to go home. I felt very cared for as his last patient. Thank you Dr Zu and Denise! I'll be able to fly to Florida for work, pain free, And ready to learn how to fight cancer better in my occupation. Thomas Cao read more

I love my dentist, Dr. Yu and the manager! They make me feel like family. They have tv's on the ceiling and dvds to pick from. You can watch a movie during your procedure. I was always afraid of the dentist before, but I got over it when I went there! I never have pain during my cavity fillings!! He's gentle but thorough read more

I will never be scared to go to the dentist again! Dr. Yu was so gentle & told me everything he was doing while he was doing it. I had an old crown from years ago that fell out, and I needed to find a place to fix it ASAP. I called this location & they were able to get me in that same day. Denise who checked me in and spoke to me on the phone was so sweet. I will be coming back here to get my teeth cleanings! read more

Mrs. made an appointment for me. She was able to get something set up within a day. From the moment I stepped in, to the time I left, I should say that I had a very enjoyable experience at this clinic. The last time I was at a dentist, the Berlin wall was still in place! I really did not know what to expect. Receptionist was very polite and friendly. She inquired about the Mrs. as well hoping to see her the next time. Nurse was very professional, polite and detail oriented. She got all the X-Rays taken care of before the doctor arrived. Dr. Yu has very good bedside manners. He explained everything in detail, informed me & demonstrated some of the best dental hygiene practices, and in general made up for the lack of Dentist care on my teeth for the past 3 decades. If you are looking for a detail oriented personable dental experience, this should be your spot. read more

Dr Yu and Denise are the best!! They have completely cured my dental anxiety, are so kind, and always talk through the process. Could not recommend more! read more

Absolutely fantastic dentist! One of a kind and worth driving to go see. I'm a scaredy cat and he is gentle, precise, and accurate. Doesn't upsell or do unnecessary work, and talented!! Never been happy to see a dentist before. read more

I wanted to make this my permanent dentist but sadly left. More care must be provided for appointments/follow-ups and urgent treatments. Patient first and not money. read more

Dr. Yu is truly the best dentist you will ever meet. His level of care is outstanding and he is very gentle for anyone who is weary of dentists. He has been my dentist since for almost twenty years. read more

Dr. Yu and Dennise are great care provider and has modern technology. I came from another care provider that was a little outdated with using x-ray films but not at Smile Dr. All X-ray are display on a screen where you can also see and have a conversation with the Doctor. Dr. Yu also educates on the procedure he will conduct and how to properly care for your teeth. Most important, these two are hard working and after spending a late night on other participants the day before, they offered to come in on NYE to provide repairs to my chip tooth - that's dedication. read more

The unsatisfactory review is for the person setting up appointments I have left a vmail message and was never given a call back. The 2nd message was a lady telling me she will call me at the end of the day and its been 4 days or more now. I did like the Drs service but his office staff is not great at follow up and Customer service. I called a different place already Thank you. read more

While my husband and children have faithfully been patients of Dr Yu for some time I wasted my time and had been seeing a dentist closer to home who was always available, cheated on my insurance, and did not provide long term care for my teeth. After constant rave reviews from my husband, meeting Dr. Yu when going to my children's appointments, and tons of referrals I decided to make the switch and it was the right decision. Pros: - Nice and clean: His office is next to Souplantation in a nice shopping plaza. The office is clean, modern with well kept and new equipment. - Wait time: None. They were ready for me upon arrival even at the end of the day. - X-ray procedures: 18 total done but I've never seen x rays done so quickly. The technician was incredibly thorough and hustled so my mouth wouldn't be uncomfortable - The cleaning: I love getting my teeth cleaned! Again quick and thorough. - The Dr's meeting: he took his time going over every aspect of my gums and teeth. He speaks with a smile, genuinely looking out for his patients best interests without trying to sell you services. He is just awesome. Cons: - little far from me but totally worth going to a great dentist. If you're looking for an honest, thorough dentist go see Dr. Yu. read more

Best dentist ever. Super honest and kind, takes his time to explain to his clients how to take care of their teeth. Highly recommend! read more

I had a time-sensitive dental emergency and called multiple dentists trying to find someone to help me. Smile Dr was the only dentist office that took the time to confirm that my work could be completed before I was scheduled to leave the country, and they saw me the same day, late at night so that they could help me out. I have never experienced such caring professionalism from any dental office. Denise and Steven are a truly amazing team and I am now their client for life. Highly recommend. read more

5+!!!! My husband, 2 kids and I all love love love Dr Yu and the Smile Dr staff! After going to a dentist in La Mirada for several years and dreading my appointments, I decided to look around for a clean, honest and friendly new dentist that truly cares about his patients. Dr Yu is that and more! I've been going to him since February 2006. After getting married and having kids, we all now go to him! We look forward to our visits and leave smiling bigger than when we came in. He takes his time with each of us, very personable and although we only visit twice a year, he remembers unique things and stories we've shared from our prior appointments. Dr. Yu is top notch and the best around! read more

Absolutely love this place very kind and considerate I never have to wait so long to be seen like other dentists usually have me waiting for almost an hour just to tell me what's wrong. read more

Great people. Although they are busy, they try their best to keep you feel cared and tended to. Even the cavity removal and fillings were done right they didnt need adjustment afterwards for proper jaw closure. All the employees and doctor is very kind. read more

Dr. Yu's office is located in the Town Center Mall. Parking is really terrible. There is very little parking out front. Who ever designed this area in the strip mall is an idiot. Why would you place 10 businesses and provide only about 20 parking spaces out front. These businesses include Barnes and Nobles Book Store as well as Soup Plantation. They all get about 2 customers each? You have to park in the adjacent lot and walk over. Having said that, Dr. Yu is a wonderful dentist. For my first time, he spent a lot of time explain to me about my teeth. There is no pushiness or up-sell for more services. His staff, especially the insurance lady, is very knowledgeable. They explained to me my plans and presented a game plan with no hassle. I also love that Dr. Yu's is so close to my house, which is a bonus. read more

I've been going to Dr. Yu's office for over 10 years. Throughout the years, they have always been consistent and shown the utmost care to my entire family. During the pandemic, I had a couple dental emergencies and they saw me as soon as they could. They are actually pretty busy during this time and I'm glad to see their office working so hard to accommodate patients while being careful at the same time. We moved from Fullerton many years ago but have continued to see Dr. Yu's office and realized that friends that left the area still continued to see their office even after leaving the area.... that's a testament to their practice. read more

My entire family have been patients here for years. Dr. Yu is excellent with my three kids (all under 8), especially being able to calm the jitters of a nervous 6-year-old's first dental visit today. He continues to impress me with consistently high level of expertise, professionalism and unquestionable fairness in price. Even though we moved out of the area to Ventura County, we continue to visit SmileDr for our regular dental care. Thank you Dr. Yu and Staff! read more

5-star reviews are on point. Dr Yu has excellent chair side manner. Like many others I dread going to the dentist but after my experience there I can honestly say I am looking forward to going again. I trust him to take care of me and recommend him to anyone who's looking for a dentist. read more

My mom was suffering from significant tooth pain in her back molar on a Saturday night. She couldn't get in with her dentist for another week or two, so I contacted Denise at Smile Dr. and they scheduled my mom to come in that same night at 7pm. Dr. Yu was gracious with his time, and patient in responding to my mom's concerns. He was very honest and gave recommendations for next steps. Denise followed up later that evening to check in on her as well. I really appreciate Dr. Yu and Denise taking the extra time to meet with my mom on a late Saturday night, and for explaining her dental situation in a way that was easy to understand. Thank you Smile Dr.! read more

After being called like way too many times to confirm an appointment for my twins, they gave our allocated appointment times away because I didn't RSVP. Why do I have to confirm an appointment that is a scheduled appointment? HELLO? I'm never going back to this business again. I don't like being nagged and hounded to confirm an appointment, that's why it is called an APPOINTMENT!!!!! By the way, we had to wait 2 months for that appointment that they gave away to someone else. Also, watch the dental hygienist touch your mouth for X-Rays, then touch cabinets with same gloved hands, and then back to your mouth again w/o changing gloves. Not aseptic technique, and your probably getting germs from other patients if this is their normal practice. Good Luck! read more

Dr. Yu is amazing! I wanna run through the streets screaming and shouting so everyone will go to him. He is incredibly personable. He really wanted to get to know me, and he was very interested in my career as an aquarist, so we spent almost 20 minutes just talking and having fun before he did my exam. He was very proud of his freshwater tank in the waiting room- and it really is a great one :). Such a funny and nice man! The office is contemporary and beautiful. He has all of the up-to-date equipment. I hadn't had my teeth cleaned in a few years so I was nervous about what would be going down, so I really appreciated that he could show me everything on the tv screen and explain in great detail what was going on and what I needed to do to fix it. My only problem was a large amount of tartar build up, and it was crazy seeing it pointed out on the screen, and looking at the effect it had on my gums. Dr. Yu is very into gum health, and the way he explained everything made a lot of sense. Not only was my cleaning the healthy thing to do, but it was also educational! Can we talk about how he did the entire exam and cleaning himself? I wish I could bold and underline this. I'm used to hygienists doing everything, but Dr. Yu really makes time for each of his patients to give the best care. As a result, though, you need to make appointments far in advance... but it's totally worth it. And oh my god. I fricken LOVE the automatic scraper tool. He was done in under 10 minutes- there was no hour long agony of hand-scraping tartar off. Yeah it hurt because I had a lot after 2-3 years with no cleaning.. but it was done so quickly and I've never seen my teeth so clean in my entire life. I left that office a whole new woman :-P Do yourself a favor and make an appointment with Dr. Yu! He makes me want to go to the dentist. read more

Dr. Yu is the best! He is so caring, calm, and patient. I would still go to him but he doesn't take my new insurance.

As a person who has always had a lot of teeth problems, I have dreaded coming to the dentist. I also have been to my fair share of dentists over the years. And had never been with the same one for very long. But I now no longer dread the dentist bc Dr. Yu is awesome. He is very personable, explains things well, and has a deft yet gentle hand. Highly recommend! read more

The Denise and Dr. Yu are a wonderful team. They're always very friendly and professional, and even remember little things you've told them after not having seen them between cleanings. They call for appointment reminders and are willing to see you in case of emergency. I really appreciate them and their great work! I recommend them to anyone! read more

Just left Dr. Yu's office. Everyone is friendly, nice and professional. I'm so excited I found him on Yelp. Let me start off by saying I avoid going to the dentist at all cost. I have a misaligned jaw and so that can sometimes make it painful to keep my mouth open for long periods of time. He was extremely nice and considerate of that during my teeth cleaning. He even referred me to an orthodontist right across the street where I made an appointment to see what we could do about my jaw. I might have to get surgery to correct the issue. Eeeek Scary!! I've been referred to a few other dentist through friends and cow-workers and I was never happy with their practice. I find it funny that I found my dentist on Yelp out of all places. A few months ago I went to a dentist office where I was told I had 7 cavities!! What?!! Found that odd considering I hadn't had cavities since I was a child....Fearful, I went to Dr. Yu's office for a second opinion. Thank god I did because he said I had NONE! NOT one cavity!! He took pictures of my teeth and we went through them together as he explained what was going on in my mouth. I'm so happy I finally found my dentist. read more

So I've been going to dentist offices regularly since I can remember. One summer I had like 13 cavities. I've had so many root canals that Ive lost count- and I floss like 3 times a day too... dang genetics... So I've been to a lot of dentists- What I like about Dr. Yu is that he really takes time to explain things. He is very thorough and his office is really good about accommodating your schedule. I also like the fact that you get to pick a dvd movie to watch during a procedure and there is a big screen mounted on the ceiling. They give you headphones so you can drown out the sound of the drilling and enjoy the movie. I switched over to Dr. Yu last year and I've been really pleased with their service. So I switched my whole family to their office. The front office is also very friendly and you can tell that Dr. Yu genuinely cares. read more

My family has been going to Dr. Yu for the better half of a decade. I can't say enough about Dr. Yu and his staff. They are accommodating, friendly, and honest. Dr. Yu and Denise make seeing the dentist an enjoyable experience. Dr. Yu will tell you what needs to happen now and what you can wait on. He has great bedside manner and a light touch. My husband has had fillings down without numbing! Crazy, but that's Dr. Yu's gift. Denise is always so helpful when we've had last minute changes in appointments. We will continue coming here until he retires... No time soon, we hope! Love Dr. Yu and all his staff. If you are looking for a new dentist, I can't recommend enough. read more

I love Dr. Yu! And this is after I had two bad experiences with other dentists. One recommended too much and unnecessary procedures simply to charge me more money, and the other didn't recommend enough (didn't even bother measuring the depth of my gums). Dr. Yu goes over the test results with me and gives me options to choose from in terms of my treatment. He's always friendly and also asks how I've been doing. I would happily recommend him to my family and friends. read more

My husband was in much pain for a few days. We knew he needed to see the dentist. We stopped by Smile Dr Dentistry just to make an appointment. They took him in on the spot found the problem and scheduled an extraction the same evening. All of the staff are wonderful and we are so appreciative of them staying late to get him in!! read more

Dr. Yu is great. He's very friendly, thorough, informative, a good listener and just plain good at what he does. I came to him through a referral from two different people after a negative experience with what I call a "mouth miner"--a dentist who only looks in your mouth to see how much money he or she can make, not how they can help you. Dr. Yu restored my faith in dentists: he listened to the sordid history of the two teeth that had been bothering me, referred me to a great endodontist for a consultation, and ultimately got the two teeth fixed. His staff is nice, his office is nice, and I even got to watch a DVD on the ceiling while I was being worked on. I'm already referring other people to him. read more

I love this office. The doctor and staff are so professional, caring and kind. I hope to come here for a long time to come. Thanks Dr. Yu! read more

After my dentist of 30+ years retired, I basically used that as an excuse to avoid going to the dentist. I was forced to look for a new dentist due to a "dental emergency" and found this place on Yelp. YEAH! This was actually a relatively painless experience and I don't dread going back. I was also really impressed that Dr. Yu accommodated my schedule and took care of my problem right away. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who hates going to the dentist. read more

My coworker recommended that I come here and I have to say that my experience was great. Scheduling several appointments for me and the kids was easy. Denise the Assistant was prompt, helpful, and kind. The doctor was knowledgeable and I love that he didn't try to upsell and only recommended what needed to be done. The place is clean and they have videos available for patients to choose from while the doctor works on the patients. They have an orthodontist that comes to the office every month on the weekends, or if you prefer the weekdays the doctor can provide you with a referral across the street from the office or you can find a place around your community. Overall everything went well and I'm glad that I switched my dentist. read more

I do not like dentists to say the least and literally try to block out all dentists I have encountered in my life. LOL. With that being said, Dr. Yu and his office staff are great. They are very professional and honest - start to finish. They don't pressure you and do their best to accommodate you as much as possible. So happy I found them on Yelp and they are close to my home. I might "enjoy" going to the dentist somewhat!! :) read more

I have been taking my seven year old son to Dr. Yu for the past three years. He is great with children. He never wants to push them to do anything that will create fear for them to go to the dentist. I never plan to switch dentists and would recommend this office to anyone! read more

Very disappointed. Dr. Yu has a friendly demeanor, but the service I received was extremely disappointing. I came in for a 6-month clean up and Dr. Yu was about to start my cleaning. Right before he started, I asked him if I was going get x-rays taken (I was used to getting x-rays taken prior to cleaning). He then paused, reviewed my chart, and advised me that I am correct in that I should get x-rays, since it's been one year. Okay, maybe he forgot, that's not a problem. He then stated he would do the cleaning first and then the x-rays. It seemed a bit out of order, but I didn't mind and the doctor cleaned my teeth. After the cleaning, he took my x-rays and told me, as if rushed, that he will get these x-rays developed and contact me within an hour IF there is a problem. I have never experienced this kind of service at a dental office. X-rays were done in the beginning and developed during the cleaning, so that after the cleaning is done, the doctor can review the x-rays and let me know in-person what he/she sees. "contact me within an hour [about the x-rays] IF there is a problem" How will I know that the x-rays were reviewed? If he doesn't call me, I am assuming that he checked and the results were fine. If I reminded him that I need to get an x-ray, why did he state that he will do the cleaning first? Didn't he know that it will take time for the x-ray to develop? I put 2 stars instead of 1 because Dr. Yu was very friendly, but the way he went about the cleaning was upsetting. I won't be recommending this place to anyone. read more
