After years of coming to this office, I've come to realize that my dental anxiety was heavily influenced by the environment here. Unfortunately, my experiences with the staff were often negative, and at times they came across as dismissive and lacking empathy. When I expressed that I struggle with dental anxiety, I did not feel supported or reassured, which made visits more difficult than they needed to be. Patient care should include not just the procedure itself, but also how patients are treated emotionally. Since switching to another provider, my experience has been significantly more positive. I hope this office takes feedback like this into consideration and works toward improving patient care, would not recommend this dental office with the way their set up is at the moment. Office wasn't clean either, had a dead spider on the floor with dirt so that was definitely the cherry on top! read more

Very bad experience with dentist and staff no one explains treatment plans with you and only one person manages the insurance billing portion which is the manager and only available specific days. They've tried to charge me not hundreds but thousands for treatment that they didn't run through my insurance. I had to call my insurance and ask if they cover specific treatments and give them actual codes teeth # etc.. things that the dentist staff should be doing. Very bad patient experience I would not recommend going. Also reporting them to Better Business Bureau as they tried charging me on two separate occasions for treatments covered or partially covered by my insurance. Also manager told me to my face after I confronted her about all my concerns that I let my child's teeth get like this basically blaming me without knowing he was born with a low enamel condition. read more

If I could give ZERO STARS I would. I've been to this office two times the first time they did X-rays and a short exam. I had a permanent retainer that needed to be removed so I asked for a referral as I'm new to the area and don't know any orthodontist here. I specifically asked the front desk if they knew for a fact the orthodontist they referred me to took my insurance- they said yes. Two weeks later I go to my appointment and they didn't take my insurance. My second visit was a cleaning scheduled for 3pm, they sat me down did only my bottom front four teeth and a brushing. I was supposed to go there this Friday for deep cleaning and after talking to my insurance, Smile Burst was going to overcharge me (my portion) $400! Awful! All previous comments about 3 hour or more wait times are true. This business would not receive any stars, if Yelp would've allowed me. I'm writing this review on behalf of my mother who is 76 years old. Her first visit in June 2020, she received x-rays and cleaning. She waited almost 1.5 hours to be seen. Yesterday, she waited 3 hours just to be brought in to a room. During her wait she witnessed numerous patients come in to check in for their 9:00 am appointment. The same appointment time she had. The Smile Burst Dentistry office also checked-in walk-in patients? That was per my mom's observation. She also witnessed a couple who were new patients, completing forms, who also had an appointment at 9:00am. The problem: Overbooking. Once in a room, There she waited 30 minutes to have x-ray completed, in which she questioned why she needed another x-ray since she had x-rays completed in June of last year. However, we understand that it's a new insurance year, so the dental office may have wanted to get that x-ray in to ensure billing for the year. It's a business. Let's hope she doesn't get over-billed. My mother asked the assistant why the wait was so long and why so many people booked at 9:00am. She explained that the assistant said nothing, had no explanation or reasoning and pointed to the busy waiting room. As if she were to prove the reason for a 3 hour long wait was because of so many patients, yet she, the dentist and/or other staff were in charge of scheduling. (Hmmm...Interesting how that works.) Fact of the matter, no patient should ever have to spend 4-5 hours in a dental office for cleaning and annual check up. Simple answer, don't overbook. After her x-ray, she waited another 30 minutes to have her teeth cleaned and explained to me that the dentist was extremely rough while cleaning and didn't pay attention to her expressions of discomfort, she didn't ask if she felt okay and didn't listen to her sounds of pain. Bottom line: Smile Burst Dentistry proves to not care about their patients, patients are like cattle for them, waiting to be branded. It's pretty obvious every patient has a price tag and potential add-ons lead to higher payouts. I get it, they have a hustle. However, if you're trying to keep your hustle, try treating your patients with respect and the care they deserve. Don't overbook because you're just creating bad customer service and overworking yourself. Be transparent and have some integrity. read more

Trust the negative reviews. This Dentist office is very interesting. I've been a few times since choosing them as my dentist office earlier last year. Positive: 1) the TV is on while you're waiting for your appointment Negative: 1) one visit I had to beg for a oral treatment because the dentist didn't feel my oral concern was a big deal 2) It feels like everyone outside of the supervising dentist is in training 3) the supervising dentist doesn't listen to your concerns; he talks over you and draws conclusions about what you are ABOUT to say and is completely WRONG 4) you will wait for an unreasonable amount of time, and the excuse is usually a computer/system glitch 5) depending on the receptionist, your customer service experience will be very cold and short. 6)this spring valley location collects dust easily and no one appears to be taking the time to rectify that. Needless to say, now that I have the time to hunt for a quality dentist office I am doing so. I'm giving them 2 stars only because of the employee yelp review. I normally like this place.. but to much back to back appointments and sometimes they get behind like today .. 3 hours wasted.. nothing done but exam.. needed a surface filling and it wasn't done either... I have to premeditate also, so wasted 4 pills.. smh.. then on top of it the new dentist, left me laying down leaving the room when she left.. ‍ does not know how things work for doing a simple procedure that doesn't need preauthorization.. I'm not a spiteful or angry person I never leave reviews but if I can help a person in pain from going through a horrible nightmare experience then I hope people will listen up to what I have to say.. I was lied to I was scammed I was told that my partial and dentures were my permanent ones to find out years later that there were just temporaries that the authorization that they sent in for my treatment was actually denied not because of my fault but because the office didn't take correct pictures so instead of letting me know like a decent office would and go forward they just led me to believe that hey those temporaries they're the real thing I go back years later because my teeth are cracking because of course now I know they're not supported they tell me that my insurance does not cover it and they charge me over $4,000 I was in the office just about to pay and then I decide to call my insurance company my insurance company told me stop immediately that's completely false we cover everything everything don't you pay..i got up and confronted the front desk and let them know hey my insurance company is right here medical on speaker saying that what you're billing me is fraud I asked to get the lady's name and African-American older lady in her 50s she refused to give me her name she said she doesn't have to because she's evil. Horrible front office staff except Anastasia and Andrea they were amazing and understanding thank you for them other than that the whole staff was a rude and pushy and the assistant that was working with me was a recent graduate who was also was cussing while talking to me so unprofessional she didn't tell me I needed cavities which she was supposed to to explain to me about my treatment before taking me to schedule more appointments. I get to the appointment lady two older ladies in the front office super rude need to find another job because they seem like they don't enjoy their jobs I don't know their names but they both were rude and giving me false information. One of them told me I need to fix my cavities before I can get my oral tooth extracted from their referred oral surgeon and that the surgeon won't see me without my cavities being fixed, which was a lie. I talk to the surgeon they said that that's not true that most likely they just wanted to get as much money out of my insurance as they can so I go back to the office and I have to ask for amoxicillin because the dentist Dr. LA didn't prescribe me any. She just said go get some Advil and ibuprofen you'll be fine and then I asked for my x-rays and a copy of my intro oral photos and the other old lady in the front staff was charging me $55 saying they own them (meaning my medixal records) after calling my insurance I am on Denti cal and they're not supposed to be charging at all. I spoke with Denti cal through Medi-Cal, and they themselves said they were not supposed to be charging me when I then told the lady that they aren't supposed to be charging me she said "this is the policy. I've been doing this for 40 years I know more than you" but then again, the dental association said that that's not true and is malpractice. The site alone was horrible. The ceilings had mold and rest on them and holes throughout them. The floors had cracks everywhere and pieces of hair like they don't clean all the chairs you get into are weak the chair I got into the head of the chair fell off and they had to fix it while doing my exam. I would never recommend this place to anybody and they now are reported through the BBB as well as the Denti cal as well as the dental association, do not go here. Their staff is unprofessional lazy doesn't explain anything and especially rude and try overcharging you for things that they're not supposed to be charging you for they also said that one of my authorizations will take 68 weeks when I spoke with my insurance they said it only takes 2 to 4 weeks that they don't know why they said that again another malpractice, DONT DO IT!!!!!! read more

I needed to get a cleaning and walked in to make an appointment. I was told if I could wait about 20 minutes they could take me today so I stayed and waited. The workers were very friendly and they even gave me a fidget spinner to play with while I waited haha. I went to "Smile Burst Dentistry" / they wanted to pull out 3 of my teeth for a start & then put me on their "treatment program" but before they could do this they needed me to give them $500.00 "up front" for treatments my Medical & Medicare would not cover ( otherwise their "ethics" would not allow them to help me... ) My problem was that I only had Medicare & Medical & I could not find anywhere else to go & they knew this... Long story short, I was finally able to find a REAL DENTIST ( Eiad Haddad in Spring Valley CA ) who would take my state sponsored insurance / none of my teeth were removed / all of my problems were fixed / the people were kind & gentle in spite of the fact that I am paralyzed & in a wheelchair & thus very difficult to manage logistically / & I now have a better SMILE than I have ever had in my life... If you go for a "cleaning" they will not floss, they will not use dental tools to scrap tartar or plaque off your teeth, they will not use water floss, they will not check your gums for gingivitis and measure them like my old dentist from my other insurance when I was working. I had a chance to peak @ their schedule. They booked 9 patients at the same time! They don't have enough staffing for that! Not even the most prestigious dentists book that many simultaneously! First time. Good experience. I called because I broke a filling the night before, they said I could come in without an appointment first thing at 9:30am. I was in the chair within an hour after filling out my paperwork. X-rays done and broken filling replaced and I'm out by 11:30. They lack any kind of compassion. My child has cleft lip and palate. They have no clue regarding the condition, they continuously try to shove the x-ray tabs into his mouth even when he says it hurts. They clearly don't read medical histories. The service is subpar. Appointments run 1-2 hours behind. They make parents stay in the waiting room and they don't communicate with you regarding the child's check up. Just send them back to the waiting room. And now they have just skipped my third child. They have no idea how to work with a child on the autism spectrum. United Concordia needs to boot them asap. read more

The doctor was nice but seemed scared to say and do the right thing. Two white fillings were done on my daughter that cracked a month later. This was a horrible experience. The heavy woman at the front desk is extremely rude. Naedine the hygienist was horrible. When she found out that I have panic attacks she called me a 5yr old. She was so mean and nasty to me that my husband refused to let her continue to shame me and requested a different hygienist. When he asked for someone else she made to sure to tell the patient next to me that I have "panic attacks." To me that is a clear violation of the HIPAA. I recently brought my 6yr old daughter in for two molar cavities, they are decayed enough to get them extracted as soon as possible. When I first walked in, the reception was nice and clean as I remembered it a while back when Rachel and Abelina were running the office =) now, the two receptionist that were there on Tuesday, November 23rd were very akward. One girl instead of greeting me as I signed my daughter's name just stared with her mouth wide open without a blink until I finished writing her name. Didn't ask me if it was my first visit, didn't ask for my insurance card, didn't ask if the appt was for me or my daughter or son (who was with me). These girls were very sloppy just like their service. The other receptionist started eating chips at the reception desk and the two started speaking in Spanish about a patient that was getting treated in the back not knowing I spoke Spanish. It was just obvious that they were talking smack about someone. When my daughter finally got called for x-rays, a guy was checking out and the girls were arguing back and forth on the cost of a mouth rinse. OKAY, not knowing the products you are selling is BAD! I went to the back to keep an eye on what's going on with my daughter and the assistant was really nice. He cleaning "her" teeth and was talking to her so she would feel comfortable. When the dentist walked in.....he didn't acknowledge me, he kept saying how confused he was while reviewing my daughter's film and then kept asking the assistant which letter the tooth he was pointing at was. HOW DO YOU AS THE DENTIST DO NOT KNOW?? Well, he ruined the film by putting them on top of the flouride. He, the dentist was just a mess and I didn't feel comfortable letting him extract ANYTHING from anywhere!!! The dentist prescribed antibiotics and didn't know what the dosage was. He asked the assistant AGAIN, "is it every 6 hours???" OOOHHHHH HEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NO!!! I took our butts outta there and I do not plan to return! I am currently looking for another dentistry. HORRIBLE... literally walked out yesterday and reported them to my health insurance company to remove them from their directory. The facility is disgusting number one, dirty floors cabinetry falling apart , you can see and hear the other patient's procedure's going on. This is literally the dentist or your nightmares! there is only one dentist at the place so expect wait a good hour just to be taken back to wait another hour. I went in for a simple cavity that had become sensitive and she did no xrays, stuck a mirror in my mouth for 5 seconds and told me she was going to have to surgically extract my tooth and i would have to pay for a bone graph as well. Ok, i thought I may need a root canal but an extraction and bone graph and my insurance wasnt going to cover?! wtf... i walked out. went to Maria Zuniga in chula vista today. Guess what, all I needed was a filling in my molar, not even a root canal let alone a surgical extraction. I was in and out with no more excruciating pain in less than 45 mins and for my co pay of $5 not $500 out of pocket like smile burst quoted me. The staff at smile burst was awful aside from the male dental tech... the front desk guy was stuttering probably due to his over use of meth and the girl with braces sitting there texting and chomping her gum like a cow only put her phone down to give some attitude. I am a part time model as well as corporate professional and maintain my professionalism every where i go and these people pushed me to the point of exclaiming "You guys are fucking high" and walking out. This place is unprofessional, my father had dentures made here. The dentist pulled out all his teeth, scheduled him for a 1 week follow up but only gave 24 hour post op care instructions! My father was in pain and unable to eat, and also not informed as to what to expect AT ALL. His new dentures were handed to him WITHOUT a case not even a bag to put them in! He went back after a week for follow up and still no education on denture placement or care. No handouts no pamphlets. The waiting time is also ridiculous. This was by far the most unprofessional, unhygienic, excuse of a dentistry I have ever had the misfortune of going to. Me and my father new to the area chose this dentist because we found out it accepted our dental insurance and it was closet to us so we made an appointment to get our teeth looked at. We showed up at 12:45 for a 1pm appointment....we sat in the little waiting room till 1:45 while the employees spoke to one another gossiping; I first thought maybe there were patients in other rooms and that's why it was taking so long, but unfortunately there was no such luck; it turned out after waiting 45mins after my scheduled appointment time I was greeted by empty, dark, dirty rooms meaning the employees had 45mins of blatant disregard for they're patients. Once now finally sitting in the chair about to be examined I noticed cracks and holes in the wall cheaply covered up by stray bits of wood, and dentistry instruments cheaply housed in dollar tree containers atop grime and mold gathering wash cloths. The dentist proceed to tell me I needed a deep cleaning and had no cavities, the dentist said I needed to pay before they provided any proof of what the procedure cost or how much my insurance was going to pay; any half brained individual who heard such a request would know there was something wrong and know any legitimate dentist would never say anything like that. They're persistent dedication to nonprofessional service, and poor hygiene became too clear to me, me and my father both agreed our dental care would not be in trusted hands if we stayed so we both left and never returned to that place. DO NOT RECOMMEND! !!!!!!!! I called and made appointment since my insurance company assigned me to this dentist. I have USA Delta DENTAL HMO. Upon arrival there was no one at front desk. There were 3 other patrons in waiting area. I waited 5 to 10 minutes for receptionist. He csme off a bit straightforward. No problem. I filled paperwork. Asked yo use a bathroom and again receptionist was being sarcastic and said no bathroom available. I used bathroom but it was old and dirty. The rooms or spaces are more like cubicles and no doors. Got XRAYS done. I requested my wisdom teeth be xrayed and the technician stated they lacked the adequate machinery to do so. Dentist came in very friendly Hispanic lady and stated no issues with my teeth only a mid cleaning was needed. Then the receptionist came in and repeated what the Dentist stated but said that in order to get mid cleaning I needed to upfront $200.00. I asked if my insurance covered it. He said no. I asked if they could just get the basic cleaning. He said no. No $$$ no work. I asked if my insurance covered it. He said no. I asked if I could call my insurance company to make sure. He got mad. He said without insurance you would have to pay $475 but all you pay now $200.00. I called my insurance they said procedure is covered 100% no cost to me. They asked to speak to the man but he stated "I don't have to talk to them". Both insurance rep and I were shocked and they suggested I leave and find a different dentist. They did not remove the bib until I was walking out and a nice assistant stated "why is she still wearing this it is bio hazard msterial! I'm sorry ma'am!" and took it off. The man simply ignored the lady. He took the invoice and did not provide me with a copy even after requesting it. He simply stated the codes of work they fid on me and I repeated them out loud to insurance rep on the phone. I informed him that I was transferring my insurance elsewhere and he pointed to the door. On my way out I met the dentist and nice dental assistant eating a Thrifty ' s ice cream and they asked why I was leaving so soon. I stated the African American at the front desk was rude and charging me for a procedure my insurance covers. They were not at all shocked. They apologized and wished me well. this place is the WORST piece of crap dental place I've ever been to. they don't deserve a single star. there's a reason why all the reviews below hate them and I still went in because no other place was available on a Friday. they charge $100 for a consultation (go to SD Smile Dentisty, you can get it for $50 and they have way better reviews). I had to wait a few hours just for an x-ray which took them less than 3 mins to tell me that I needed a crown which was costing me $550 out-of-pocket after my insurance cost. They wouldn't give me copies of my x-ray which is illegal and said they could only forward it to other dental offices. When I called them to do so, they told me only one person can send x-rays but she was apparently on a 3-hour lunch break, they never sent the x-rays. God I hate this place and their incompetency. They charge you $30 if you miss an appointments. They are unprofessional and a cheap piece of crap. I'm glad I didn't do actual dental service with them, who knows how frustrating that would've been.
