For smash burger Smashy serves a great one that doesn't break the bank. Service is fast.

I had to run some errands and passed this small burger shop that stood out to me. It was not hard to miss and cannot be missed with the whole restaurant painted blue. It was very blue outside between regular buildings nearby. It also said American Flavor, European Soul on the window so it got me hooked to try out their burgers. The kitchen staff were busy cooking beef patties and the whole restaurant was very tight and long. Luckily it was not crowded and only had 3 more customers inside standing and eating their food. There were no tables and chairs. There was only a counter with ketchup and napkins. I placed my order with the cashier and surprisingly enough, I did not have to wait for my order to be prepared! I was shocked! I purchased a double beef patty cheeseburger along with fries and the cashier immediately gave me the bag that was next to her on the counter. There were a couple of bags on the counter piled next to each other. I think they prepared the orders and bag them for incoming orders. I never experienced this in my life before so it was very shocking and convenient at the same time to experience the prompt and fast service at Smashy. It was so fast that I got out in no time. This burger joint really reminded me of other burger joints like 7th Street with the affordable prices of a single and double patty burger. The single patty was at $5.99 and double was at $7.99. The fries were $2.99! To my amazement, the burger was still very warmed when I took a bite after my long commute back to my office from the rainy, cold weather. The fries were still standing pretty good after that long commute on the train to my job from Union Square to City Hall. The burger was very cheesy and cooked well done in a good way that did not dry out the beef patties. Beef patties were very tender and juicy. The melted cheese made it even more juicier. The bun was very soft and did not require teeth action. The cashier also offered to put house sauce on the burger so with the sauce and cheese made the burger very good with every bite. The fries were seasoned with this red powder that got your hands dirty. It was worth it though! The fries were very good with just the seasoning powder alone. I did not need any ketchup to go with it. Smashy gave a lot of fries so I was very full from it. I finished every fry. I will definitely be coming here again when I pass by Smashy. It was a fast and good bite to combat my hunger. The fast service and attentiveness just blew me away so I'm definitely passing by this place for lunch.

Delicious smash burgers, super fast service! Can definitely eat 2 burgers given the size. Love the fries too! Great place to stop by when you need something quick and are craving burgers

Great burger. Fast efficient service. Love the pricing too a double and fries for $11 can't beat that for the quality. Really good, juicy burger. Fries were very crispy.

Attention Smashy fans - the burger price costs $1 more. This happened a month or two ago. Now a single burger costs $5.99 and in my eyes that's actually $6. I had a single burger which was tasty and full of flavor. Business was brisk either way many people in the queue to buy and customers eating. Tatiana was doing a good job ringing up orders and the line cooks were hard at work.

Tucked along Union Square, this burger joint has a simple menu done right. The menu has ~5 items but the output is fantastic. Smash burgers with your style choice, house or classic, and great fries. Service is friendly and quick. Lots of foot traffic throughout the day. Love the camera to smile and say hi to our friends enjoying the same grub in Budapest!

Just started working at a new location and noticed smashys was right around the corner I was so escorted to try it and for 5.99 definitely didn't disappoint. With nyc going up smashys delivers a flavorful classic smash burger for the low. Service was friendly fast. Takeout mainly there a small counter to devour your burger quickly but I highly recommend for a quick bite.

Coming here all I was expecting was a regular smash burger however it was the not the case. Food: Compared to other Smash burger tasting I would say this one was different, How So? Well this is somehow more saucy and also the taste of cheese is more dominant, making everything melt in my mouth. The fries were just great, with great seasoning and texture. (Both burgers and fries were slightly not as warm as they should be) Service: Well it was pretty quick especially how there was a line and people waiting as well so I felt happy getting my food that quick. Ambiance: There are no seatings so you will probably be eating standing up or can walk to Union Square and sit there. (I would probably add some Bar stool to offer some comfort to some guests).

Two cheese burgers and fries is a good meal portion

Usually when I eat smash burgers like this I feel like crap but I think this place uses quality beef because I was fine after eating 1.5 burgers. I ordered two cheese burgers as I thought they would be small. The burgers are a good size. One burger with fries is a good sized snack of a meal. The cheeses was nice and gooey and melted. The meat had some crispy bits to it as well that added to texture. From the first bite I was getting a regular Mac cheeseburger. But as I kept eating it was giving more cheesy beefy flavors. I ordered on uber eats so I can't say much about the service but it came fairly fast.

This is just a really good, somewhat unique burger. The smashburger concept has in many senses been overdone, you find them pretty much everywhere now, offering a relatively squashed and small burger for exorbitant prices. The taste blends together after a while. However, smashy burger managed to surpass my usually low expectations for smash burgers significantly. Apparently it's a franchise based in Hungary - and this is their only US location. Quite frankly, I should have expected it to be good, because it they bothered to bring it all over from Hungary to the USA - it's gonna be pretty good. First, price point is reasonable. Paid $6 for a double burger. That's not bad at all, especially in Manhattan (Union Square). Second, it avoids the problem many smash burgers have (being too dry). I ordered it "house-style", which comes with this difficult to identify orange sauce. It was moist and added significant creaminess and flavor without being overwhelming (common in many US restaurants). I can't exactly call this health food, but it wasn't worse for you then it needed to be. Third, service was just comically fast. You order the burger, it comes out pretty much instantly. Not sure you can ask for more from a burger place. Just as a heads-up, there's no real seating or tables in or anywhere near the restaurant, so I'm not actually sure how you're supposed to eat the french fries (you can just take the burger and eat it any way you want - you won't be disappointed!) Anyways, I had a great time and will definitely get this again if I'm in Union Square again.

I understand the smash burger trend! I've always been a fan! Similar to that of 7th burger and it tastes phenomenal-- always a plus to get some fries at the bottom of the bag too! Fun little sticker accompaniment too! Cheers!

I had heard about this new smash burger place and wanted to drop by to try it. It was a busy Saturday when we decided to swing by and the burgers were getting churned out quickly. There is standing room only here, so your only option is to eat the burger standing on the counter or take it to go, which is what we did. The menu is pretty small and simple. We were handed our burgers soon after we ordered (they were pre-made and just flying off the shelf) The burger was your standard smash burger, I guess my complaint is that there is nothing about this burger that sets it apart. Not the sauce, nothing. Because this was already made when we ordered it, it wasn't even hot and fresh and melt in your mouth. Fries were on the dry side. I would also say the burgers are more on the smaller side. The edges of the beef weren't crisp like they typically are in a smash burger. This tasted more like a small double cheeseburger to me than anything.

I decided to check this place out based on a tiktok food creator who recommended it. Also I wanted to wander around union square after work. I honestly couldn't stop wondering what restaurant was here before. I feel it might have been maoz vegetarian, the falafel spot. Anyhow I ordered a single cheeseburger with fries. I considered asking for the sauce to be omitted but I rocked with it anyhow. I am glad because it was applied sparingly . My burger tasted hot and fresh. The soft roll is a nice touch. The fries are crispy and seasoned with paprika. I liked the crisp but not greasy taste. This place is very affordable clean and quick. My only concern is how crowded it might get during a rush. Also I had to say multiple times excuse me to someone who stood in front of me like a brick wall when my name was called.

The front part where you first walk in is the bar area with some tables. This restaurant is on the darker side and brings you back in time. Once you walk in further that is where the main dinning room is. This is also on the darker side as you can maybe tell by my photos. The wall paper and art around the restaurant is cool and there are some monkey statues around the restaurant. I was seated in a corner table in a booth area that seemed to be for at least 2-3 people. I thought for sure they would seat me at the bar area. I had a wonderful waitress whose name I think was Taylor but I could be wrong. I ordered the Monkey bread to start off with. It's a very buttery bread with truffle and parm cheese on top. I have alot of allergies and I was searching online if I could even have truffles as I have a nut allergy. So, I asked the waitress and she said she had never heard this. But, she came back to me and told me that White truffle grows near or like over where Almonds grow from but that, they don't use white truffle so I was all good. Well, this was super nice of her to check for me. I had no idea she was going to do this. She said the restaurant has strict protocols when it comes to food allergies. I then got for my main dish the double cheese burger with onions and pickles. To drink I had the cucumber martini. WOW everything was pretty darn good!! I passed on dessert. If you get a chance or a reservation pops up in your resy to go, even if it is for lunch..I highly say go for it.

From the moment we sat down, the service set the tone for the entire experience. Our server was…read moreincredibly warm, upbeat, and full of energy--one of those people who genuinely elevates a meal. I only wish I could remember her name because she deserves the recognition. We started with drinks, and mine ended up being a surprise standout. I ordered the coconut margarita, slightly hesitant since I'm not usually a margarita fan--but it completely won me over. It struck a perfect balance and leaned just enough into the coconut to make it feel unique without being overpowering. My sister-in-law, who's pregnant, had a non-alcoholic Ritual margarita and loved it, noting how convincingly it mimicked the real thing. Since we were sharing, we got to try a good mix of the menu. The monkey bread came first--definitely a splurge at $34, but it's one of those fun, indulgent starters that's worth ordering at least once. While I wouldn't call it the best bread I've ever had, I also wouldn't change anything about it. The crab rangoon was another highlight. Having it made with real crab made a noticeable difference, and the dipping sauces complemented it really well. It felt like a more elevated take on something familiar. For mains, the French dip was a hit. The meat was incredibly tender, the bread had that ideal crusty exterior, and the au jus was packed with flavor--I was very glad I ordered extra. It pulled the whole dish together. We also tried the smoked whitefish Caesar, which was the only dish that didn't quite land for me. It was a well-made, fresh salad, but the smoked fish flavor was a bit overpowering and took over the balance of the dish. Even though we were too full for dessert, the restaurant surprised us with a scoop of strawberry ice cream with chocolate sauce to celebrate my sister-in-law's babymoon. It ended up being one of the most memorable bites of the meal--we're still talking about how good that ice cream was. We arrived right at 11:45, and by the time we left, the place was absolutely buzzing. It's clearly a popular spot, and for good reason. Between the lively atmosphere, strong service, and well-executed food, I'd highly recommend making a reservation if you can.
