Had a great day at the Smart Style Salon! Highlights and a haircut with Brandi, who is new to the salon. She said she loves working with color - and it shows. She listened and did my hair as I'd asked for, with some warm, chunky highlights and some thinner ones, too. Love the colors she used - warm blond and a hint of red - great with my own haircolor and skintone. Also a great "long bob". I didn't want to go too short, and this is perfect. The salon manager cut my hair. I do like a stylist who doesn't talk the whole time or pry into my business. However, she had NO personality. Not a single smile-not even a smirk -the entire time I was there. Sure, we all have bad days, if that's the case. Don't bring it to work!! The cut-initially I thought it was average. However , after I left I began to notice the flaws. As time went on, I noticed how the cut was horrible. I will never go there again!! I even gave a killer tip- approx. 55%. read more

I went to get my hair cut at smart styles in the Walmart Super Center in Claremont this past Thursday. I walked in and asked the woman at the counter named Julie for a hair cut. The place was nice and clean and neat. Julie told me she could take me right away and sat me in a chair as we discussed what type of hair style and cut I wanted. Julie listened to what I had to say about my hair style and offered suggestions that would fit my style and pocket book price as well. When I arrived in Claremont nearly a year ago this October, I was concerned that I couldn't find the right stylist for me. I am very picky when it concerns my hairstyle, even more so at this age. My style is a hybridized military style and after going from place to place looking for someone who knew what I wanted. That's when I found Erica M. at SmartStyle at the Walmart of Claremont. Not only did she know what I was asking, has helped me engage in a newer, more trendier style of the style I was used to. Erica is the only person that I trust here in Claremont. I brought my two sons here tonight. I had to walk away because my husband wouldn't let me stop the atrocity that was happening to my poor boys' hair because he didn't want to be embarrassed. The haircut is ridiculously uneven, stray hairs, the side burns are longer than the rest of the hair. It was the most horrible haircut experience I've ever had. I will not recommend smart style in claremont. Made an appointment for last Sunday, left my phone number. When I showed up for appointment the place was locked up. Waited a half hour still nothing. Not even a courtesy call. Went in earlier today to get a haircut and they would take me in. Two girls behind counter not doing anything with on client in chair getting hair done by third girl. To busy they said. Walked by about half hour later. Chairs empty and not an employee in sight. Seems they would rather go hang out in back room than actually do any work. Customer service was terrible and I will pass along my experience. read more

Choppy, uneven, too short and not what I asked for. I showed the hairdresser a photo of my hair from several months ago: a simple cut. I knew I was in for trouble when she kept asking her coworker how to do it. It was clear that she doesn't have much experience cutting hair, except for little girls maybe. She had obviously never cut sideburns, for example. I couldn't say anything because the damage was already done; the first cut she made was way too short, and she kept doing the same part over and over again, at one point pulled my hair forward and chopped my bangs (I didn't even have bangs, but I do now, about an inch shorter than the rest of my hair). I thought if I waited, she would at least make it consistent, but she didn't. I just wanted it to be over. My son has been going to Carol in Claremont, NH for several years. Sadly, I have only been able to afford a few hair cuts over this time, but I also see Carol. She is always professional, welcoming and patient. We love that she has been there for years. That in itself is uncommon. My son Christian only wants Carol to cut his hair and he's happy every time! She's also the only stylist who knows how to thin & razor cut his thick head of hair! As many times as our family has gone to this salon, or called on the phone, we have always been greeted warmly and courteously. Years ago, I owned a salon. I know how difficult it can be when several "artistic" women work together in this atmosphere. Egos can clash and competition can be fierce. But, I've never experienced that here. It is a very comfortable place to get a great cut at a fantastic price. My son was referred to Carol initially, and whenever he gets a compliment on his cut, he is sure to mention her name to everyone. That said, there have been times when we were unable to see her (she's very popular!), but we've always been pleased with the other stylists. I believe that if you get a service here, and are unhappy, they will accommodate you. I know we'll continue to see Carol for as long as she works there. I am waiting for the day that I'm able to treat myself to a style and COLOR guilt-free! One day! read more

Awful. Second bad haircut. Thought it was the stylist last time, nope! Different stylist & hair is so short, uneven, choppy, that it can't be fixed. I have been coming to smartstyle for my haircuts for 6 years. Every time I have gone there I have been pleased with how my hair comes out. Everyone there is very nice and makes sure they know exactly what you want done. I definitely recommend smartstyle to anyone. read more
