It is such a unique grocery experience, very clean and stocked up well. As soon as I walked in, I noticed they have a hot and ready station stocked up with meat-not chicken-but meat! that is already cooked and ready to consume. I ended up buying the T-bone steak. The meat itself was seasoned well, however a bit too rough to chew. I'd rate it 3/5. I'm used to only chicken in America being ready to go! They also have several alcoholic selections, beer and other spirits. This store offers self check out as well as the cashiers who are ready to assist. They also offer pesos exchange currency which is highly suggested to carry around when visiting Mexico. But this store also accepts debit/credit cards. The eggs were the iconic topic of the weekend; coming at a pack of 30 for $5.47 you definitely cant beat that in America's current prices. We survived off eggs for our four day weekend in Rosarito. Food definitely tastes different compared to California's groceries, but that's because they probably don't use pesticides in their veggies and such. Most of their produce is grown near by so I'm sure that's where the stores get their supply. Overall, this store was a huge convenience to have next to our Airbnb stay, walking distance makes it even better. Parking lot is big as well.

If you don't have pesos they will gladly charge you in dollars and will give you the change in pesos. There's older guys sitting down on a bench taking turns to help you out bag your items (they work for tips) so make sure to tip a buck or two to this nice men.

We've gotten beautiful tumeric, dried arnica and calendula for teas. If you are trying to rest and heal up while in town, this place is a pleasant lifesaver. Finally, the proprietress is extremely friendly and welcoming, and she really knows her products. We've been impressed by the superior quality of the goods, and we genuinely enjoy stopping in.

We were looking for an ATM machine to withdraw pesos and shop for food. The items are reasonably priced, with the exchange rate around 20 pesos to a dollar. There were rows of salsas and tortilla chips next to the juicing bar where we picked up a container of salsa made from a molcajete cucharon (stone mortar and pestle). It was perfectly delicious with our makeshift flour tortilla burritos and tortilla chips! They have assortments of breads- bodillo, telera, boliqueso, and even baguete (bagettes). Pick up a galleta (cookie) or cocada from their bakery! We puchased a combination of sweet breads and savory plain breads. Love the produce here. We were deliberate to make a fruit salad and gathered papayas, grapes, and cactus pairs. With their hard seeds and luscious red fruit meat, you can't easily find cactus pairs in the states but you can find it here at Calimax! A nice offering of produce and conveniently located in Tijuana, this Calimax is worth stopping by for your next trip south of the border!
