Of course when Emily's was called for pick-up they told the hospital they were not working with me. My next surprise came when Emily's informed me there would be an extra charge (several hundred dollars) for repair because my father had an autopsy and this charge always applies to anyone autopsied. In the phone estimate they told me the repair charge would only apply if there was damage that needed to be fixed for a viewing (like to face or hands - which there was not). The viewing went OK, but then it took forever to get the ashes back. I was told 3 days but had to finally call them to follow-up after six days. And now I am still waiting for a death certificate. The Dr signed his paperwork the first day but apparently Emily's did not do their part. So after multiple phone calls, including being told someone would research it and call back (they did not call back), I find out 22 days later Emily's is faxing the paperwork over to the county that day. While I've been waiting to close bank accounts, and file forms (like release of the autopsy results) that I cannot do without a death certificate. Emily's had some good points: the price and the viewing were both good, but they have some serious administrative problems that have made a difficult time even harder.
