But, a friend of mine used this place years ago and I saw her review then and bookmarked it in case I was ever in the same predicament which I recently found myself in with the surprise loss of my mother who hadn't even been ill. Michael was quick to respond to every email with multiple details because my situation got very complicated including the medical examiner, a pathologist who cancelled out at the last minute and my traveling long distance during Covid to handle matters. During the most stressful and depressing days of my life, I came here to this nice Victorian house for my mother's body. He told me the family picked this home because it wasn't cold and he was absolutely correct. Michael was patient and efficient and I found the prices reasonable because who wants to feel screwed over when dealing with the body of their most loved one. At my request, he even divided my mom's ashes into packets that I could give to her friends who wanted to do their own little ceremonies during Covid. I was embarrassed to ask, but knew I wasn't up for that task myself and he handled it with grace and warmth and refused at tip I offered for that extra step. Highly recommended. Thank you Michael for your help and patience with my complicated, drawn out situation. Remember, you do make a difference in people's lives, when it matters most.

I arrived just after 4:30 only to discover they were closed. So I went to see if they had posted hours by the door. Just then some guy rolls up tells me they are closed, thanks captain obvious. Then proceeds to ask me a bunch of questions which i was in no mood for. Not very tactful so I did not respond kindly. I hope to god this is not the beginning of a regretful experience. From the looks of these reviews I am quite concerned. People are mourning their loved ones, don't berate them with a bunch of questions just because you geniuses don't have the common sense to post your hours anywhere online. Do better!!!!

We heard something good about this funeral home and thought we would try them out to create a wonderful service for our loved one. I just wanted to warn some people before you waste your money at this place, these people are very fake and two-sided. They seemed nice off the bat, but during the reception for my cousin's service, as I was coming out of the restroom, I overheard two of the staff of this funeral home speaking ill of my late cousin. I was so appalled and didn't want to make a scene, and I had to go sit in my car and take a few breathers so I didn't go smack somebody. If you want a funeral home that will take care of your loved one until they are in their final resting place, DON'T GO HERE! If they are happy to speak in such negativity towards their clients, they deserve to have an honest review here. Once again, I am absolutely appalled. What they need is new management and a whole new staff.

I cannot express the sadness, hurt, abuse and the physical damage this placed has caused us…read more My uncle had his services there March Of 2026. Elevators did not work so we walked up basically 6 flights of stairs. My thought is, who goes to funerals? Basically old people that are mainly handicapped. One of the attendees at the service was a man that just had previous heart surgery 8 days before the service. He went up these stairs to see his best friend lay to rest. Most all of us had back, neck and leg injuries. After the service everyone was in pain after the long trek. Besides the smell of dust, mold, open windows, cobwebs and basic construction going on throughout the mausoleum it was freezing cold. I could go on about that but let's go onto my uncles interment. After the service we were told to stand out of the way of the casket being placed in his resting place next to my aunt. They had workers come out not dressed well just in work clothes. To place my uncle they has to maneuver his casket to fit in the wall. They were and this is not a joke..tipping, rocking, and basically throwing my uncle around to make it work in this tight space. My uncles son, brother all the family members were appalled and sick to have to be a part of this. Most of us went back down the stairs so we did not have to watch this anymore. This place has been under construction forever. Why are the Elevators still not working after years of being worked on? The importance of this should be priority for people to attend services of loved one's. I would really like to know is it financially not feasible, or not approved by state due to code issues? Guess I'll have to look that up. Myself.. I'm in more pain in my lower back than when going to the service. I cannot speak for the rest of my family and friends attending the service. I wonder if these corrections will be taken care of? Also if they can't afford to fix this, what happens to this beautiful Mausoleum and the people in it? Seriously I cannot understand how this could have happened. The nightmares of this situation is appalling. Who knows if he's even in his resting place next to my aunt?

This relative has been there for well over half a century now and I'm sure the last time they got any visitors was probably 25+ years ago and the placement of the remains in what looks like a copper book end enclosed in glass...it looks like something that time completely forgot about. The building has apparently had zero improvements in any recent times. There is paint peeling off the walls and ceiling and I am sure they don't have millions of dollars required for repairs and improvements. Seriously, this mausoleum is something you'd find in a low-budget horror film.

The facility is tucked away in a hidden corner of Portland on Taylor's Ferry Road, and rises out of the forrested hillside suddenly - making it very easy to miss! The building boasts a large parking lot that covers two levels, and there are accessibility features throughout the property for those in need of them. Though the mausoleaum is an expansive space filled with light, it feels quiet and intimate. I'm very impressed that a facility dating back to 1916 is able to sparkle and shine like it was built yesterday. We had just lost my granddaughter unexpectedly, and he was so wonderful in walking us through the grief to determine next steps and get through a truly difficult time. We had never buried a child before and felt overwhelmed and unsure of what we needed to do. Dennis helped us make a checklist so that we could accomplish everything they needed us to do, as well as knowing what we had to do over at Lincoln Memorial where she would be buried. He was super respectful. He even took the time to wrap the baby and bring her to a room so that I could see her (it was necessary for the Service to be closed casket, but I lived out of State, so this was my only chance to see my newborn grandchild that died unexpectedly at birth). Going that extra mile meant so much to me. We were able to navigate through the tears and sadness, pick out a casket that Jade could be buried in (without needing an additional vault), and receive the help we needed with putting together the Graveside Service and the programs. I designed the inside and back of the programs, and sent them as individual jpgs, and Andrea was kind enough to place them properly so they would print out. They turned out beautifully. We delivered a handmade dress, hat, tights, booties and a blanket and pillow for her to be buried with, along with a note to go inside her little casket. While we never saw her in it, I am sure they provided great care in dressing her tiny little body and placing her little head to rest on the soft satin pillow. On the day of the Service, Andrea arrived with baby Jade, set up the podium and guest book, along with the casket stand. She was helpful in directing the pallbearers and was very kind. We appreciated not only the compassion and helpfulness that was shown during this very unexpected time of grief, but also that Mt. Scott Funeral Home provides all of their services at their Cost for babies that die at birth, which really helped to $ave us money, and that was so helpful. This included all expenses -- the casket as well. What a kind and tremendous difference this made. We highly recommend Mt. Scott Funeral Home and are very, very grateful to Dennis and Andrea! We also respectfully and highly recommend Lincoln Memorial Park as a cemetery (with stunning views, no less), and Affordable Family Markers for the most cost effective and beautiful Family Markers.
