Other than the employees at the register and a couple of others having social hour, the rest of them must be in a meeting. I know there has to be more than 5 people per shift. Anyway, I picked a few bags of apples already sliced and peeled . 3 of my 4 bags didn't have the 50% off tag but had the same date. So how was that determined? They all looked the same, not one bag looked fresher than the other. The lady at the register said she could only honor the one labeled 50% off or I could go switch them out...why should I have to? Love it! You don't need a membership card. Their prices are much better than Costco. Look for the manger specials and weekly sales. The manger specials are a real deal. A few weeks ago, I bought Foster Farms chicken breast for $.19 a pound. No lies! These are the specials you will find at Smart and Final. Smart and Final has better customer service than Costco. The employees respond to you with a big smile. The managers are aware that you are the consumer and they appreciate you. Have ever shopped at Costco and wondered what did you pay for? You by bulk in food and it gets rotten in a few days. Most people don't have room in their house for bulk items. Costco doesn't sell everything. After you shop at Costco, you still need to shop at the grocery store. At Smart and Final, you must check out every dept.. Smart and Final even has a fresh vegetable and produce dept.. Where you can buy as much or as little as you want too. Sometimes at Costco you think your getting a great value. but, your not! For instance, if you bought favorite brand at Costco. Then, you buy at the grocery store. The taste of your favorite brand at the store is much better than Costco. What Costco does to keep cost low, the buy your favorite brand that is a lower grade than the grocery store. Try the taste test from the items you buy at Costco and compare. Same with their other merchandise. It's not quality you think your getting. Costco offer their 100% guarantee, but they don't lose anything. The manufactures reimburse Costco. But really the Costco members are the one's that are losing. You pay a membership, you get rude service, merchandise is degraded. Sometimes prices rise when its coupon time. It's a psychological for you to think your getting a good value. One week it's a certain price and then when its coupon time. It's more money minus the coupon. Costco knows how to burn people. They're billionaires for some reason. A meat manger was caught changing the dates on the old meat. Imagine that, your paying for something that is old and you eat it! Gross! Most alcohol is either a reject, outdated, from their breweries. That's why their alcohol is much cheaper. Take the taste difference. Even one of their vendor's employees told me and the actual vendor. Gross! That is so true, you do get what you pay for! Costco buys their gas from a open market. That means the gas could be from anywhere. If a Costco employee tells you its Chevron gas! He's lying! You should report them to Chevron Corp.. False advertising and misleading consumers. I love their rotisserie chicken at Smart and Final. It may cost more, but it is much better than Costco. During the holidays, try their pumpkin pies. Very delicious! You have to try their bakery items. Their meat selection is awesome at Smart and Final! Stop buy and check it out! Shop at Smart and Final! I used to work at Smart and final, and I really do enjoy sushi Friday at this location, so it pains me to write this. Today will be the last time I ever shop at the store. When I got in line to check out there were two people in front of me. I am still not at the register yet and I will complete this review once I get the cashiers name. The cashier next to us has now completed over seven customers orders and I still have two people in front of me. The lack of sense of urgency of this cashier is nothing short of incredible. She has been waving to friends that are in the store talking to other people and has just now finally completed the one order in front of me. I still have one more customer to go before it's my turn. Looking behind me there are now over 11 people waiting to get through her line and some of them are starting to jump ship to the only other cashier who is open and actually completing orders quickly. So far I have counted four other employees walking around the front end but no one seems to want to open another register. Well, I'm finally there. So been coming in here since they've opened up went shopping yesterday had gone to express lane w/o noticing and apparently had more items than I should have and the cashier was being rude and kept pointing at the express sign as she continued ringing me up and would say you know this is an express lane right! I responded I apologize I did not notice then proceeded to nod her head was really making me feel uncomfortable and giving me anxiety because after every few items she rang up she would point and say you know it's an express lane right and apologize to the person behind me in line which was a bit embarrassing I know I was in the wrong here and I honestly didn't see the sign but you shouldn't make the customer feel like crap i will gladly take my business to stater brothers much nicer people their in my opinion cheaper groceries and more options way to go smart and final read more

Smart & Final in Eastvale offers regular and wholesale grocery items. The prices are decent (not the best in town) and the store is always clean when I come in. Location is very convenient. I do have to note that they do not have a deli but they do have rotisserie chickens which are so good! In my opinion, I'd go to other grocery stores nearby for cheaper prices and fresher produce BUT since its so close to home it's convenient to have such an accessible store when you need something quick. read more

if I could give 0 stars I would. I went there around 10am to get some ingredients for a party. the taro root was empty when I got there and then it got restocked 20 minutes later with 8 tiny pieces. when I went back home and started preparing the taro, 6 out of the 8 pieces of taro were rotten and mushy which was not immediately apparent when I bought them and the pieces that were left were tiny. my cousin was preparing the fruit salad and everything seemed alright until it was finished. whatever was on those apples made the whole fruit salad taste like it was doused in window cleaner and everything had to be thrown out. it totally ruined the entire dish and a lot of people were looking forward to eating it. poor quality control and expensive. we're never coming back here again. read more

I tried out smart and final for the first time Monday night and I am new to Eastvale and I have heard good things. I was greeted by the cashier as soon as I walked in so it felt very comfortable. I really like how the store is set up there is a lot of variety and easy to locate items. I like that they are taking Covid 19 seriously and they have buying limits on the essentials like toilet paper and paper towels so that everyone can get some unlike other stores. The store was very clean and I felt safe inside unlike a lot of other stores like Ralph's and stater brothers where they don't take things as serious during the pandemic. The way the checkout lines worked also is different than other stores. Smart and final keeps us 6 feet apart and has a display that let me know what line to go to. Once I got to the register I was greeted by the cashier Susan, polite and courteous and very helpful. She is the reason I am writing this review the customers before me must of had a bad day and they were very rude to her but it didn't seem to phase her. When I got to the register she asked how my day was and if I found everything alright. She definitely stood out I wish more store employees were as helpful and happy especially during these crazy times. Been to this Smart & Final Extra a few times now since they have been open and every time the store is super clean and has a great produce selection. I have priced compared the local Vons and Ralph's and Smart & Final is definitely cheaper on a few of the items I looked at like kids Gogurt etc... They also have good weekly specials but you have to hunt for them and read the fine print like must buy two etc... Overall I am glad they moved into the neighborhood. read more

I am super excited to finally have a smart & final in our town. When I pulled up I thought, what was I thinking, but pleasantly the line in front of store moved quickly. It was crowded, since it was the grand opening, but the employees were super friendly and helpful. I want to thank S&F for bringing in Hawaiian Papaya, Lychee, and lots of other island Asian food, as I miss my home in the Islands so much. When we went to stand in line to check out, my 1 year old had enough... a manager felt my pain and got us to a register quick. On Sunday Jan 20th I purchased stew meat from smart and final. I went to go make dinner on Jan 24th and opened the the sealed wrapping. Immediately it stunk up the house. I read the date it said use or freeze by Feb 3. I thought that was a long time to be in the refrigerator. I looked it up and called multiple stores and they said 5 days max. I drove down to the store that I made the purchase from and asked for the manager (Sonya) to explain to her what happen. She did not care what so ever. Returned the item and was quick to walk away. I told her what if we all got food poisoning and again not a care in the world. I now had to toss all my side dishes that I had had already started and waist time and gas driving back down. I was very disappointed with the costumer service. A manager should be trained to talk to people and meat should be check daily.Will not be returning unfortunately and that had been my first time visiting a smart and final.. read more

If you live in the area, Smart & Final over Albertsons 100%. The vibe when you walk in is completely different, it's brighter, more light and the fengshui feels good. Parking is the best with open new lots, the community very respectful. Albertsons Parking lot is the worse with people not aware of their surroundings leading to car damages (scratches dents) inside of check out for Smart & Final is way faster and the employees are more happy to deal with. To be frank, I live right next to Albertsons but I still make the 3 mile drive to Smart & Final as my personal choice of grocery store. I have only been here 3 times since they opened but its always the same. The employees don't even greet you and act like you are in their way as they go about with restocking and arranging items. The people at the cashier lacks customer service, they don't have the courtesy to greet you or help you bag your items. I was so excited when I heard this was going to open but my experiences there has been terrible! The line were slow moving, employees were unprofessional and unless something is on a weekly deal, everything there is priced very high. The fruit such as berries were full of mold on the bottom half. Small meat selection and very limited seafood (only shrimp and 2 type of fish) and again are over priced. Sadly we will not be going back - so conveniently located but can't handle the slowness, bad and over priced grocery plus employees bad mouthing each other and acting like we were in their way when we were trying to get food while they needed to restock or pass by. I am trying to reduce my plastic waste so I was excited to go into their bulk section with my mason jars; however, the cashier refused to allow me to purchase the food inside the containers even though I informed her of their tare weight. I should have asked the manager prior to filling up my jars, but I was just excited to finally buy food without the expense of having to dispose plastic. Cashier was not accommodating or helpful at all, and I ended up having to put the food into their plastic produce bags. Quite disappointing that many of our grocery stores are still not equipped with subtracting tare weights in their system or prohibit their costumers from bringing their own jars and containers especially since this is the only store in my city with a bulk section. With the increasing amount of plastic going into our landfills and oceans, we need more stores switching to alternatives that are more sustainable. I hope to see Smart&Final and other grocery stores change their ways in the future. read more

I was hoping this would finally be my escape from the dreaded Albertsons near me, but it's much the same. I will say, they aren't too busy now and the lines are better. BUT, why do they charge so much for staples like meat, produce and cereal? I spend way more here than Albertsons and they don't even have green apples, which is weird, IMO. I will stick with Winco.
