Customer service was very bad at the register . I was helped by an employee named Fernando and other customers have asked for something and he responded in an unprofessional way. One Spanish speaking customer was trying to ask him a question and he responds with hey bro I don't speak Spanish sorry bro I can't help you . I shop at this store a lot for a local business and have never been so humiliated in my life by a check out person as I was with DELIA. I called earlier in the day to make sure there was a case of cantaloupe, a case of hone dew melons and a case of pineapple ready for me to pick up. The store put me on hold for a few minutes and verified they had all the case items I needed. I proceeded to the store and got in line to check out. DELIA had never waited on me in the past and I had indicated she needed to get the item case codes from her book behind the register. She SMARTED off to me and told me she needed to check my cart. I explained that the items were ALL case items and they could not be rung up separately. Her ATTITUDE proceeded to get WORSE! People in line started screaming profanities at ME. While it was NOT my issue. She the cried for the manager on the store intercom. I will NO LONGER be using this store for purchases. I always try to spend money in Delano instead of Bakersfield. I believe this place has been Smart & Final for about 4-5 years now and prior to that it was a SaveMart for several years, for as long as I could remember and I was kind of bummed when they replaced this store to a Smart & Final because it was weird to me that they would build another Smart & Final near the original location, but soon enough they removed the original location. Although SaveMart was one of my "go to" stores when I lived in Delano, I'm glad it's now a Smart & Final because the prices are cheaper, they sell a lot of products in bulk and they have a lot more deals. I also believe they have one of the best rotisserie chickens versus the other guys. When we're in town, we usually come by because my mom loves the rotisserie here. The store stays clean, the staff is friendly and helpful if you can't find an item and location is at a centralized location. Parking is not crazy and there's always somewhere to park, but you have to be careful if someone sideswipes your car. read more

Nice customer service, quick lines and very clean store. Bathroom is all the way in the back, and clean as well as stocked. Masks are not enforced: unvaccinated patrons are suggested to wear masks, vaccinated are free to chose. This rule applies to staff and customers alike. I would prefer staff and customers be forced to wear masks, but I'm not going to ding them for it. I can take my business elsewhere if it bothers me that much and it just doesn't. I'm vaccinated, but go in with a masks, easy as that. read more

Always understaffed at the registers usually with only 1 or2 cashiers, while other employees are seen roaming the store on any given day no matter the day or time. Frustrating when it's a smaller updated store with no self check out .would be great if simple innovative measures would be taken to create a better shopping experience read more

This Smart & Final (Delano) has the WORST customer service ever! They basically just ignore you or don't get back to you with an answer.

Me and my son went in at about 9am yesterday (Thursday the 20th) Went in to buy some veggies and a few snacks for my kids before the weekend. The store was clean and in great shape, almost flawless, definitely no complaints about that, but I noticed something that definitely bugged me. 1- no wipes for the baskets. (Theyre usually available at this location). 2- There was an employee by the name of "Gino" or "Gio" who was just laughing obnoxiously and cursing up a storm in an aisle near by. As I popped out of the aisle, of course he was showing another employee something on his cell phone and acted as if nobody was around. I wouldn't have said anything if I was alone, but im almost sure my son heard him and being only 7 years old, that isnt good. Let me say that I dislike grocery shopping very much. For one it's always cold in the grocery store and this one is no different. It's cold lol. I guess it has to be though. The prices here are not low like you may find at Winco, but believe it or not it's priced better than Walmart. The options are limited in Delano for grocery shopping. The only thing that I dislike is the selection is somewhat limited here. They have a lot of products, but it's kind of a split between a regular grocery store and a big box store. That comes with plus and minuses. The cashiers and other employees are very nice and helpful. All in all this is our first choice for grocery shopping in town. read more

Brand new move in from the old SaveMart facility. It is huge in comparison to the previous Girard St. digs. This has the widest isles I've seen, well stocked and organized, and super clean. The produce selection is much nicer. I'm surprised it's not much visited. read more

This is store to go to if you need to do some early grocery shopping. They open at 6am which is a perfect time to do some grocery shopping because there is little to no people. Employees are friendly, but I have encountered a couple of rude employees. Overall, my experience at this Smart & Final is great. read more

There some workers that just don't like to work. Like for example this lady her name is Jessica, she didn't even acknowledges you or even asks you if you found everything you were looking for. Other day me and my wife went in and she was at register and all she was doing was just laughing out loud on the phone instead of doing her dam job. I'm giving the store 3 stars for being so neat and tidy. I've been coming to this store for quite some time, some of my complaints are there is a cashier named Maria, short blonde hair, is very rude, loud, and quit annoying. She tries to be so loud and talkative but gives off so much attitude when responding back to her. I understand she's trying to impress her superiors but this is ridiculous. Hope management can correct her attitude before they lose more customers. Also, while I was in line a black shirt by the name of jessica was extremely rude! Not only was she rude to me, but the way she would yell at other customers made everyone feel uncomfortable. I understand it can be some pressure when directing the line, but if she's going to be in charge of that she needs to stop being rude and act like an adult. I'm not sure how she's a manager the way she was acting. And this isn't the first time this has happened with her. When S&F moved to its new larger place, I was a huge fan. I liked the open aisles, the selection of items (goat cheese! Tahini!) and the friendly service. Over the past year or so, I've slowly stopped shopping there and now travel to Porterville instead for groceries. The quality of the produce is inconsistent now--wilted romaine, empty bins where tomatoes should be, lack of products--I'd rather drive 30 miles to get a better quality. For example, on more than one occasion this store has been out of the basics: eggs, chicken breasts, bread. I'm not exaggerating. No eggs? There wasn't an eggy holiday coming up and no special sale, but the shelf where my eggs used to be was empty. Not once but three times. Same for chicken breasts. I'm not picky about the brand, I just needed some chicken picatta, for Pete's sake! The bread I am choosy about but the brand my family likes is EVERYWHERE. It is the one most of us are familiar with and S&F was out. Empty shelf. The last two times I was in the store I couldn't easily find a corralled shopping cart as the trolley ones were scattered across the parking lot and the hand baskets were MIA. I had to send my kid out to wrangle one for us to use. I know--first world problems, but when it's 110 outside, no one wants to go trekking around the asphalt for a basket. That same visit the bags for the fresh produce were empty too. Nary a one to be found. I had to get a few from the meat section to put my broccoli and onions into. Not to mention the fact that four times I've had to return so-called fresh meats because when I peeled back the cellophane I discovered the meat had gone bad. Each time it was well before the use by dates. They did exchange my meats, but it meant extra time out of my day to drive the rotten stuff back to the store. I still have my favorite cashier--Manuela is knowledgeable and friendly and funny--but I'm sad to say that S&F is no longer my go-to store. read more
