The storm door for my front door was not closing all the way. I called Chris and he was kind enough to try and have me fix it over the phone to save me money. However, nothing worked so he came the next day and brought a new hydraulic brake for the storm door. Chris tried hard to not have to replace the existing brake, but in the end, it had to be replaced. I can't say enough good things about Chris. He genuinely wants to help you without having you spend a lot of money. I really appreciate that. It's rare to find someone who would rather help you for free over the phone than to have you spend money if possible. That speaks volumes about Chris. He is very knowledgeable about the structure of your home being a contractor. He is highly skilled, very friendly and very reasonable. I would not hesitate to use Chris again and again for all my handyman needs. He is reliable, on time and will try to save you money whenever he can. I highly recommend Chris for any handyman work. I recently hired this company to come out and take care of a few small jobs around my house. I dealt with the owner, Chris, and he was awesome! There were a couple items on the list that provided a bit of a challenge for him because they were finicky, but he persevered and took care of everything with a great attitude and expertise. If you are looking for a company to help you with a couple items on your to do list, definitely give them a call. Chris was professional and knowledgeable, but also incredibly friendly and pleasant to work with. Not sure why, but this guy seems to have decided not to communicate with us. Found him last year here on Yelp, contacted him through Yelp, got an almost instantaneous reply, and the next day he came over to give an estimate for the job we'd requested (repairing slats in our fence). Very nice interaction, we had a very happy, friendly chat, he said he'd get back to me. But he never did. I messaged him on Yelp, I texted him (we had each others' numbers because we'd already exchanged texts when scheduling the original appointment), I called, I texted him again, three more times, I called again, I even emailed him. No reply to anything. Not a word from him, ever. It's been about a year now, and I still have all those texts, and emails, and the phone calls, too, (my cell records automatically) which, when I get irritated over this incident, I imagine myself using as "evidence" (lol "Seeee?!? I even called you! And I left you messages! Here's proof!" - which of course I will never actually *do* I just *imagine* being that vengeful lol). Anyway - you get the picture. This guy, for some reason I guess I will never know, just decided that there is either something about our house (which he said is directly across the street from his house - he says our back yards face each other,) or something about me, that he doesn't like. It looks like he's getting lots of good reviews here, so I felt it important to relay this story. He might be good, sometimes, but buyer beware! He's also a weirdo. read more

I'm updating my review since we found Small Jobs on Yelp many months ago! The owner, Chris, is seriously one of the best finds. When I moved to MD my dad was upset that he wouldn't be close enough to help with house projects and that I'd get cheated or charged ridiculously prices to get stuff done around the house. My dad passed away last year and it makes finding Chris all the more amazing. We've used Small Jobs for two other house issues. We had outlets stop working in the master bathroom and then the guest bathroom back in January and he stopped over and fixed them very quickly. He wouldn't accept any money and just told my husband to call him when we had a big project! They don't make customer service like this anymore. Then yesterday we called about a broken garbage disposal and he squeezed us in on the SAME DAY! He fixed it in about 30 seconds and was in his way. Again he wouldn't charge us but I refused to let him not accept anything. Chris is the best handyman around! He's friendly, very helpful, and his customer service is unlike anything you'll find around here. Thanks again!! I found Chris via Yelp and the fantastic reviews! He switched out a chandelier for our kitchen that I've been dying to have changed! He was everything the reviews said and more! He's extremely friendly and very knowledgeable! This is not a review of Small Job Contractor's services....It's a review of the owner Chris' care and customer service toward someone he did not know. I am a first time homebuyer and recently had a home inspection done, and there were quite a few findings. I found Chris on yelp and called and left a message to see if he could take a look at the report and give me some cost estimates to get things up to par. I had to leave a message for him because he wasn't available at the moment. I was in the process of discussing repair requests with my realtor when Chris called, so I couldn't get to the phone. When I called back I had been quite emotional and crying, because this home buying process has been very overwhelming and draining for me. He went into immediate consoling and inspiration mode....like a dad getting his daughter to get over the heartbreak of her first crush. :-) He was very helpful and I appreciate everything that he shared with me. Whenever I get to the point of being an actual homeowner, there will only be one person that I will call for repairs around the home. We had Chris repair drywall that was damaged by a leaking ice maker supply line and the subsequent plumber's repair work. Chris did excellent work with great attention to detail. Moreover, communications with him were easy (via text and web) and he was responsive, getting us an estimate and getting us scheduled quickly. And he showed up on time, both days. I spoke with Chris and decided to go with this company because he was clear on how they charge and he was willing to come out and take a look at what i needed done without charging me an arm and a leg like some other companies.
