5.2.25 I ordered a six-pack of mini cupcakes which included: Carrot Cake, Lemon Drop, Salted Caramel, Red Velvet, Peanut Butter, and Almond Cake. My least favorite flavor was the lemon drop. Surprisingly because it is the number one most popular flavor. The cake was moist but the frosting is way too sweet even for me who has a sweet tooth. Of all the flavors I tried, my top three favorite were the carrot cake, almond cake, and the red velvet. I really love that they have mini cupcakes because I can try more flavors and not have to workout as long to burn off all the calories. I also purchased the peanut butter cookie which comes in a 3-pack for my hubby. He enjoyed them. I tried one and the flavor was good and it was partially soft and partially crunchy. The staff who assisted me with my cupcakes was super friendly and gave me her recommendations on which flavors she liked best and which were the most popular. I will return, hopefully this summer, to try their ice cream or one of their other cookies. read more

It basically a cupcake cut in half with ice cream sandwiched between the pieces. You can choose the type of cupcake and two scoops of the ice cream of your choosing. I have had their cupcakes before and they are sinfully delicious. I chose to get the chocolate 500 with two cups of vanilla. If you love chocolate you will enjoy it. It's dark chocolate with chocolate fudge inside the center. Definitely was enough to fill me up. The friendly employee behind the counter was very patient with me while I made up my mind on what I wanted. There was only one other person in there. Double Chocolate German (special cupcake), strawberries and cream, Birthday Cake, and Cookies and Cream. Everything came out to about $18 and change - money well spent. The icing is not too sweet for my taste, the flavors for each matched what they are supposed to be, and the cake is about the right combination of moist and spongy - fluffy but not too fluffy. I picked up a half dozen cupcakes for my birthday last week. I had never been here before so I wanted to try a few different things. I got two birthday cake cupcakes, which were my personal favorite. The red velvet is popular it seems, but I thought it was just ok - the cake was very light and the frosting was kind of cloyingly sweet. I enjoyed it, just not as much as the others! The salted caramel was tasty though the frosting was very thick/heavy, almost like a caramel. My husband ate both of the chocolate cupcakes with white frosting/pink sprinkles and really liked them, too. The website is a little off - the quoted price of $20 for 6 was not right, I paid about $24.99. Not a big deal but I may not have bought 6 had I known. They also didn't have as many flavors as indicated - I really would have liked the cookies and cream that is supposed to be a daily flavor but it wasn't. I also arrived about 15 minutes after they opened and got the last red velvet, so I am not sure what happens later in the day but I was surprised by the selection. Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of cupcakes to choose from - just be aware of you don't order in advance that you may need to be flexible about your choices I am glad to have this place in town and will definitely be back - I love cake but in my 2 person household it never makes sense to get a whole cake. We've seen small signs around Columbia advertising for Smallcakes. When we figured out they were on Stanford Blvd, we had to pop in. The store is small and quaint but fun. They also have gelato and ice cream, but we were all about the cupcakes. Smallcakes has the cupcakes displayed nicely so you can see them in detail. The employee helping us was polite and had a personable attitude. When we told him it was our first time in, he explained that the cupcakes were made daily and they have a Special of the Day cupcake. We love a great cupcake. But we're picky about what we'd consider a great cupcake. The frosting/icing to cupcake ratio has to be just right. The cake has to be deliciously moist. No dry and crumbly cakes allowed. Smallcakes has GREAT cupcakes. We tried the chocolate decadence, which was a white cupcake with a dollop of chocolate ganache, and the peanut butter cupcake, which was a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter icing and a few pieces of peanut butter cup. The icing ratio was perfect. The pb icing could've had a slightly bit more pb flavoring in our opinion, but it was still delicious. The cakes were big too. Not like the traditional size cupcakes found in other bakeries. The cupcakes are a bit pricey. Our two cost $10. But we didn't care. The cupcakes were packed in a cute box so they wouldn't smash. It was a nice treat to enjoy after a hard week. We've decided that Smallcakes will be our treat when we're running errands in the neighborhood or our dessert when we eat at the neighboring restaurants. Upon walking in I was greeted promptly. Esthetically it's pleasing. Small, clean, store front. There's not a huge selection BUT I could tell they were quality cupcakes. I purchased a Strawberry and Red Velvet. Not going to lie: 2 cupcakes for $10, initially I was like... Woah! But these were so worth it! I tried the Strawberry first and the cake was super moist. The cake even had nice bits of strawberries in it. The icing was plentiful, although I usually wipe most of it off. Lol There was even a bit of strawberry jam/preserves on top. I haven't tried the Red Velvet yet but, I'd definitely recommend this business off the strawberry cupcakes alone. 10/10 read more
