We used Paula for around seven months to do the bookkeeping and run payroll for our company, but sadly in the end we had to fire her for consistently failing to fulfill her commitments to our company, and for waisting far too much of our time. Paula is charming in person, but this does not make up her gross lack of professionalism and consideration for others.
Paula does not keep the promises she makes, either in regards to simply keeping appointments, or in regards to completing work she has promised to do. In the seven or so months she worked with us she was consistently over half an hour late to all but one appointment (and she was only on-time to that one because I told her that we would have to leave if she was late). Worse, on more than one occasion she flaked out entirely at the last minute without explanation, and simply didn't show up at all.
Perhaps even more troubling is Paula's habit of dodging phone calls and emails for days--or even weeks--especially when she has flaked out on completing work she has promised to do for your company.
In the end we had to fire Paula (via email, as she never returns calls) after three months of broken promises about completing a single project.
Hiring Paula was a mistake that cost us time and money. She is irresponsible, inconsiderate, and breaks her word constantly and without remorse. These are not the qualities you want in a bookkeeper.
Update 03/04/2014* After firing Paula, and writing the review above we discovered more and more things she had done wrong, such as forgetting to file complete quarterly tax reports with the state (one of the forms is now apparently two months overdue). In response to being fired, she also vindictively locked us out of the accounting program we had paid her to set up for us. Again, this is not someone you want to trust. read more
