Received a written quotation from Mitchell Painting to paint my great room and foyer. Price seemed…read morereasonable, and we agreed we would provide the paint. Chuck Mitchell estimated 10-12 gallons, and based on that, we purchased 2 five gallon buckets of wall paint and two gallons of trim paint, to the tune of a over $300. All set, right? The next day Chuck leaves a voice mail indicating, upon further reflection, that he simply cannot do the job! I called him back, indicating we had already bought the paint based on his recommendation and he was really leaving me high and dry if he doesn't perform the work for which he provided a written quotation. At the end of the call, he reluctantly agreed to do the job. Again, all set, right? The very next day, we received another voice mail from Chuck with a very short, to the point message: "I simply cannot do your job." So there you have it, after purchasing hundreds of dollars worth of paint, Mitchell Painting defaults on their written quotation to provide painting labor. Beware of this firm - I couldn't rate zero stars, or I would have.

I contacted Eric Laughery based on a recommendation from the Sherwin Williams store on main street…read morein Springfield. He was punctual to give me an estimate but was not very responsive on follow up. He would routinely text me the day before and want to start the job the next day. He would seem annoyed when I told him that we had conflicts. I texted the owner to see when he would be able to start my job. It took him two weeks to contact me back. The straw that broke the camel's back was when I asked him for copies of his liability and worker's comp insurance certificates. He told me that he carried two million dollars of insurance that covers damage and injured workers. Ohio is a monopolistic state, the only way to buy insurance to cover injured workers is through the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation. He proceeds to harass me via text message. He cursed me, called me fat, told me that none of his guys wanted to work in my house because it stinks, and threatened me stating that he was in the special forces and fat guys like me didn't scare him. I had to block his number because he kept texting me after telling me to lose his number and not to contact him. I would not hire this guy, he is working without the proper insurance and treats his potential customers like dirt.
