The chai latte was really good (made from scratch chai tea leaves vs pre-made mix), and served in a lovely large ceramic mug that gave me the "stay awhile" vibe. Hubby had a black coffee and a REALLY yummy breakfast sandwich (the toasted bread really made the sandwich), and the ingredients inside were fresh and flavorful. Nice mix of locals working inside and folks stopping by for a quick bite. Loved the interior. Really nice worker greeted us as soon as we came in and explained the seating/service options. We sat outside, enjoying the summer air and watching the downtown hum along. The food here leans simple but thoughtful. The Island Hot Cake was fluffy and satisfying, and the Fry Up breakfast (with bacon) hit all the right notes--especially the potatoes. Maybe it's just PEI magic, but even as a side, they stand out. Our lattes and matcha latte were smooth and well-crafted, and the pacing felt unhurried in the best way. Service was friendly without being overbearing, and it's the kind of place where you can linger with your coffee without feeling rushed. If you're in Charlottetown and want a reliably good breakfast with a quality cup of coffee, Receiver is worth the stop--especially if you can grab a patio seat.

The mochaccino and savoury french toast were very high quality (came out to around $27ish for both after tip). The caramelized onions and cheese on the french toast alongside the maple syrup made for a very good sweet and savoury flavour kick -- if you don't eat much, you could definitely share since I had trouble finishing it! The mochaccino was also not too sweet and had a good balance between coffee and chocolate, I could see why it was so busy on a Sunday morning so come early if you can :) There's a variety of seating (outdoor and by the fireplace as well) and the ambiance was lively.

This was a planned stop for me while in Charlottetown (I was on a trail of Canadian coffee!) and I'm glad I made it. On my first of two visits, there seemed to be a lot of cruise ship passengers, just relaxing from traipsing through Charlottetown, a really fun place to spend time. On an early spring day, the cafe mocha was welcome and the sunny seats outside were clean and comfortable. Second visit a week later, the same delicious drinks, sandwiches, breakfast plates, acai bowls and a short kids menu from which I ordered a "baby bun". Ham, cheese, sourdough? Wasted on kids, it was yum! It's rustic and welcoming, the customer service was pretty good considering all the tourists alongside me, no doubt taxing the baristas' patience! If you find yourself in Charlottetown, make it a stop to relax and recharge with a drink and a snack!

Of special note, is the ham, the owner has infused it with vietnamese spices, and it is cooked so tender that it is extremely delicious. This is my new favorite coffee place in PEI. Not to mention a great little menu that is affordable, yummy, and accommodating to many dietary needs like vegan or GF. 1911 is in the basement of an old jail and has an artsy eclectic vibe, low key mood, and kind of fun speakeasy energy to it. The service is very friendly (albeit can be a tad slow in busy hours) but always with a smile. Great hours open M-Th 8am -9pm, F 8am -10pm, Sat 9am-10pm, Sun 9am-8pm so they really do it all from cozy breakfast vibes, to grabbing an afternoon study and coffee session, down to happy hour and dinner or a late night date. The coffee is delicious and on par price with most coffee shops ranging from $2.25 for a small drip to $4+ for latte or handcrafted drink like macchiato or cappuccino. They serve local PEI teas from Lady Baker Teas and the rotating local craft beer always has a selection for everyone from sours and stouts to IPA and light ales. The food menu is not big but it is creative and will definitely have something to entertain your tastebuds. While serving sizes are not big, the price is on point for what you are ordering, anything from appetizers and finger food like hummus bowls, nachos, and dumplings to sandwich's and wraps or Mac & cheese and burrito style bowls twisted with vegetarian and/or GF fusion like cashew coconut cream cheese or sweet and spicy Dijon spread. The turkey sandwich was pretty good, thick bread and hefty serving of turkey and toppings so a good study lunch while the Coconut cream Mac & cheese my friend ordered came in a little cast iron with a golden crispy cheese covered top on gluten free penne with a side of tortillas, smelled heavenly! 1911 is a really fun and productive vibe and Ill def be back for more study sessions (Wifi is posted right up on the wall on a huge board) or maybe ill hit a happy hour with friends next time to try some local stout as the weather gets colder.
