Great little hidden gem with delicious fresh seafood. Thanks to Yelp, we found it for a perfect stop for a bite before our next destination.

While in Charlottetown, we managed to eat our way around town. Seems to be a theme for us when we…read moretravel, discover the people and destination through their food. Dave's Lobster was a highlight. Mr. Bee ordered the Half & Half Lobster Roll. One half of the sandwich was "The Local", which was 1/4 lb. of tender and sweet chilled lobster tossed in seasoned mayonnaise, with crisp celery and fresh chives. The other half of the lobster roll was filled with 1/4 lb. of warm lobster tossed with lemon garlic butter and fresh chives. Both were scrumptious. The flavor of the lobster was sweet. It was really nice to have a chilled half of sandwich and a warm half of sandwich. They both were different, but we couldn't decide on a favorite. I decided no lobster for lunch so I chose a grilled cheese. It was served on the same bread as the lobster roll, but the middle was filled with ooey gooey cheese and then smashed like a panini, it too was different and really good. But that doesn't mean I didn't sneak a bite or two of the lobster roll. The eatery is down on the water in a cute bungalow building. The interior is roomy and so bright and cheerful and spotlessly clean. They offer a few outdoor patio tables, and it was such a beautiful and warm day we ate outside and it was lovely. The service was excellent and the young woman working the counter was so helpful in explaining the different lobster rolls they offer to help us choose and her recommendation was spot on. This was truly the best lobster roll we had on the trip.

The choice of rolls here and most places are to have them cold or warm, and we found we like the cold ones better. The roll comes with a side and we both picked coleslaw. I got a local beer which was a blueberry ale that was pretty refreshing. The food was not as cheap as some places and the two letters MP (market price), typically mean I will be paying more, in this case the roll and side was over $30. There was a generous amount of lobster on the roll and it was fresh but I felt it needed either more mayonnaise or some acid to bring out the flavors. The roll was toasted though and buttery but still lacking a bit. Overall a good lunch for someone who doesn't get fresh lobster rolls often.

It is tasty, carefully prepared, and the portions are fair. Consisting of Mediterranean flavours-- aromatic spices from Portugal - chilies from Africa and olive oil from Spain-- everything tastes delicious and healthy. Prices are in keeping with the curious inflation which infected the world during and after Covid-- and which has never been satisfactorily explained-- but my friend and I walked away wholly satisfied which-- let's be honest-- is not a very common experience on P.E.I.. The service on P.E.I. is most often surly and resentful (Hello to you, yes you, Willow Bakery staff in the Stanley Bridge outlet), and the food is often overpriced underimagined fried garbage. By the way, one little note on our cup indicated the Saucy Bird is an Indigenous establishment in which case we can only pray for more Indigenous-run restaurants and food stands of this quality in P.E.I.'s future. To add to the benefit of a visit, check out their partner in crime, Cool Clucking Treats a few steps away serving Milk Shakes and Saucy's own House Churned Gelato, Ice Cream Sandwiches and Home Made Cookies. This place is a gift to Charlottetown. Anyone considering opening a food truck/stand or a restaurant in P.E.I. needs to beg these folks to give them a lesson in how it is done right! Thank you Saucy!!
