My husband was having a hard time starting our 38 year old Tru-Cut lawn mower. We already took it to a couple of places during the years we owned it to service, sharpen and fix but had a few disappointments with them. Wanted to find a different place and found Small Engine Clinic on Yelp that's located across the street from Waimalu Shopping Center...so close to where we live which is already a plus. We found out that they do work on Tru-Cut so they said we could drop it off anytime that day. When we dropped it off, he informed us that it'll take about a week...it took a couple of days! Yay!! About a week or 2 after we got it back and first time using it, my husband was cutting grass for about 45 minutes when it cut off. He couldn't start it again so he had to use the weed wacker. He called Small Engine Clinic and explained what happened. They asked him if he could drop it off again. They called 2 days later to pick it up. They informed him that they ran the lawn mower for an hour and it didn't cut off. Not sure if anything else was done but so far, he used the lawn mower twice and it only cut off once but he could start it again. Yay! I've been using this place for almost 10 years. Old owners were good. New management was awesome when they first took over. Now all of a sudden it's just absolutely impossible to work with. I called around Christmas and got no answer and no ability to leave a voicemail which is totally understandable. It was the day before Christmas. No harm no foul. I called 3 times between Christmas and New Years with the same result. I then called the first week of January and was able to leave a voicemail! I let them know I've been waiting with my machine down and trying to get a hold of them, but I was going to bring it in in a few hours and if they didn't have space if they could just call me back and let me know before I came down. I show up and was turned away and told the earliest service would be LATE JANUARY. I say okay I understand put me down for first available and just call me and let me know an actual date. No call. Then I have to follow up AGAIN on Jan 16 where i'm told that I will be called ON THE DAY OF SERVICE THAT I CAN BRING IT IN. I let them know that will be kind of hard since I have to work? I'm told I'll get a call back with a date instead. Another day passes. I call back AGAIN and ask for a date which I believe I should have a space sometime in January since I've been trying and calling and literally brought the machine in person. Instead i'm told that i'll be called with a date NEXT WEEK (it's a friday). I politely ask if I can get a rough idea of when we're looking at since I've been waiting a few weeks and I need the machine working in order to do my job. I'm put on hold. On return the answer is the second week of FEBRUARY now. So in Summary I've been calling for a repair since Dec 24, and had to call 8 times and pushed off 3x, to then secure an appointment in the Middle of FEBRUARY. 2 Months later. I by no means expect special service, but as a longtime customer any sort of reasonable engagement or expectation when this is a piece of equipment that pays our familys bills. I would have just started looking for other options but I've always had good experiences. Hard when there's not a lot of options for stuff like this and sucks doing this since they'll probably not want to help me ever again in the future, but i'm pretty disappointed all the way around read more

I just wanted to take this opportunity to shout out about my positive experience with this business and, in particular one of the business owners, Jerek. I needed a mechanic to repair my Sears Craftsman Pro Series lawn tractor that would not start in spite of changing the battery. As you may know, Sears left Hawaii and so there's no mobile repair for lawn tractors. I needed the tractor ASAP. For a fee, they will come out, pick up your tractor and, after repaired, deliver it. I live approximately 9 miles away in Kahalu'u so it wasn't a cheap transport but it was well worth it when you don't own your own truck & trailer and need your tractor repaired. Jerek was sympathetic to our needs and picked it up on Tuesday and returned my mower in a like-new condition and with the engine running like new two days later. read more

Dropped off a push mower on a Friday for a tune up and a 35 dollar part. Two weeks go by I'm calling to get in touch about status. Hadn't even bothered to order the part. Her mechanics are good it's just she dropped the ball. I wasted 4 hrs of my time in transit going there than back to my job because I had 2 round trips dealing with her plus now the time to go to another shop. Second, the customer service is much better, with the shop opening on time and the new owners being very helpful to their customers. The girl in the front and the guy doing the repairs seemed to go out of their way to be rude. I can see why this company has poor rating. When I brought my lawnmower for servicing, they charged me $60 plus tax for estimate. After waiting over 4wks, I got an update , that it would be additional $80. After complaining on cost and delay, I was told it included a tune-up. 3 weeks later, a after using the "repaired" lawnmower I had a hard time starting the mover, and it ran rough. Just got a call, they told me the airfilter needs to be replaced, and they have no record of my previous servicing. I was told, they will not honor any previous work without my repair ticket I told her I didn't save it because I didn't expect I would need the service ticket after I picked up my mower. Warning to those considering having your equipment service by these people, Read the complaints posted. I wish I did. I suspect they will keep my $42, I paid in advance, that they claimed I had mixed oil in the gas, and required flushing. BS Added after I picked up my mower today: Ok, just received a refund in my prepayment for flushing of gas I paid a couple of days ago. I recently donated some things to Goodwill which is next to the Small Engine Clinic, and the place looks more organized & much cleaner. This is my first time using this company and they have exceeded my expectations. The woman on the phone was so nice! Every time I called to explain my issues with my hydro jetter (big power washer), she would tell me I could bring in my truck immediately. My problem is that the Jetter is bolted in the bed of a large truck that cannot be removed so dropping it off overnight was not an option. They allow me to bring my truck in the morning and complete the work the same day! Having a small plumbing business this accommodation was a life saver! They had my machine back and running with updated wiring and the regular maintenance by the end of the day! They insisted I test it out on site, it ran and sounded like new! I can't begin to explain how important this equipment is to our customers! The price was less than expected and my service was delivered as promised. Where's my lawn mower? I took two lawn mowers in for repair. One, about 2 years old, that wouldn't start, don't know why, and the other, about 9 months old, the engine ran fine but the self propel belt came loose and was wedged into the pulley, I could not get it loose myself. They took a deposit of $30.00 for each mower($60.00 total) and told me they would call with the estimate for repair. I waited a little more than two weeks, with no communication, I was in the area and stopped by to check up on the progress. I was informed that one mower was finished (the one that would not start) and the other they had a $300.00 estimate to repair. I bought the mower 9 months ago for $200.00. Looking at the estimate, it had a list up parts needing repair. As I mentioned, when I brought it in, the mower would start, it just needed the self propel belt pulled out and put into the correct positioning - no parts. I mentioned, "There's something wrong... It only needed...." Then the manager walked me to the machine and when I first saw it, I said, "This isn't my mower" Looking closer, I could see it was my mower. It looked as if it had age a couple of years in the two weeks it was in the shop. The paint was scraped up and the push handle was bent out of shape, way out of shape. I tried pulling the starter pull cable and it was froze stuck! I was confused as to what had happen. I told the manager, "This is not how I brought the mower in, what happened?" Beyond my belief, they said "Let me go ask if anybody knows what happen" and walked away to never return. I waited about 10 minutes and asked one of the workers what happened to the manager? They said, "She left to lunch..." Seriously??? Just like that She left! It was about 2 in the afternoon, well after lunch. I guess She had a late lunch. Leaving me standing there, with no communication, one of the other workers help me with the mower they had fixed. They charged me about another $100.00. Along for the trip was my Uncle. When we got back into the truck, the first thing He said besides "Unbelievable!" was "It looks like somebody ran over the mower with a car!" And then it made perfect sense.... They leave all the mowers needing repair outside, in front of their shop, sharing space with the parking lot. No doubt, somebody backed into my mower while trying to park and mangled it! The next day, very upset the manager walked out on me and having time to unstained what happened, I called the shop, asking for the manager. When She go to the phone, I explained who I was and She flat hung up on me. I called back, asking for Her again, just to be placed on hold indefinitely. So That's how They plan to deal with me! Just hope I'll go away! Not to mention after three weeks my lawn needed mowing.... When I returned home my uncle and I pulled the repaired mower out of the car, straight to the lawn. It started, but didn't run consistently. Although it finished the job, it sounded like it was struggling the whole way. Not impressed at all! Called a week later to check on the order and she said she would give me a call back in 15min(never got a call back). Called again just now a week later and same thing happens(like wtf?). Some background, I have took my lawnmower a few times to this place and always had good service. I don't know what changed, my experience with is company this time was not good. I dropped off my lawnmower on Saturday, January 15, 2022, and asked the lady how long it would take to do the maintenance, she said next week. I called on Thursday to check the status, I give her my name and type of lawnmower, she couldn't find it and said she would call me back. I never received a phone call back, I called on Saturday, January 22, 2022 (1week since I dropped it off). Same situation, put me on hold and trying to get information on my lawnmower. When she came back on she said they are working on it now I can pick up at the end of the day. When picking it up she said they changed the oil, spark plugs, and air filter, the blade was sharp so they didn't sharpen it, for those 3 things the cost $135. Normally they always sharpened the blade. I bought the lawnmower home and cut the grass, once done I left the lawnmower in the patio but could smell a stronger than normal fuel odor, didn't think anything of it. The next morning I moved the lawnmower and fuel was leaking from the carburetor and on to the patio floor, saturated at two locations with the leaked fuel. I will be taking my lawnmower back on Monday to them to repair the fuel leak because they have a 30 day warranty, but not trusting their work now. Update, went in on Monday, January 24, I let them know that my mower was leaking gas, they said they would check it and asked me to wait. The technician got a small hammer and tapped the bottom of the carburetor, then took off the air filter and put it back on. Then said it's fixed there was dirt in the carburetor. I asked them to keep it overnight to make sure it's not leaking, which they said okay. I called the next day and asked how was my mower, they said it didn't leak. I went to pick it up, before leaving I felt under the carburetor and it was saturated with gas. I showed them the gas on my fingers, the technician said, that's because he didn't clean it off from when it's was leaking and it's fine. I brought the mower home and cleaned the all residual gas off the carburetor and a few hours later checked it and found gas on the bottom of it. I cannot believe it, I have to take it back again. read more

My mower worked for all of one time before it was back to the exact same problem I took it in for. Ended up just getting a new electric mower, and wish we had just saved our money and did that from the beginning. Dropped my power washer off in March and just received it today. Repairs completed. In filling out my sales slip woman at desk wrote down a wrong telephone number. Called two days ago and was told they would get back to me. Called three hours later and was again told they would get back to me. No call! Called today and was told they would get back to me. 4 hours later I finally got the call my washer was completed. What was taking so long. If it weren't the only shop to work on small Honda engines I would not recommend them. Make sure they have the correct phone number and call then frequently to get an update. They lifted the lawn mower out of the car for me! It was ready in one day and they were very thoughtful and helpful. When done, they lifted It back in the car. update.... I turned in lawn mower on June 29 and put a $40 deposit. Called in two weeks and asked where my lawnmower was. Girl on the phone put me on hold for 5 minutes then said they had to order the belt ASAP. I called 5 weeks later and was told they had to get it shipped in. Now it is 12 weeks!!!! My husband seems satisfied with the repair of his lawn mower. However, this business has to improve on its store hours. A few days ago when hubby went to drop off his lawn mower at 8 am, the store was closed with her fellow workers waiting to start work. A female worker came about 15 mins late and blamed her tardiness on her dog who came to work with her. Today, we waited in the parking lot until 8:15 before same worker comes driving up with her dog to open up shop. Then we had to wait another 15 minutes for her computer to boot up. This is totally unsatisfactory business practice of regular tardiness in opening up shop. Your website shows store hours opening up at 8 am...that irresponsible, tardy worker should be told to shape up - don't blame the dog for always being late - it's totally her fault. I hope the boss sees this review and makes sure his workers open up on time, or customers will look elsewhere for a business that respects customer's time and business read more
