I can't remember what I ordered! Either 9 or 11 I think! SO GOOOD!
Erin S.

Cute (small) spot! Jumped in here after dropping my bags at the hostel. They have menus on the wall in a ton of languages which was very very helpful! Probably a max of 15 people can sit inside & they have a couple spots outside. Friendly and quick staff! Sandwiches are ENORMOUS! Recommend sharing with a friend!

Wow, this was a damn good sammich I'll tell you that much. It has been a LONG TIME since I could say that about a sandwich. One downfall was the wait, I waited for what felt like forever. This is why I could not give it 5 stars, I know, I know....and the wait was worth it. It was loaded, warm, juicy, and hefty. I shared 1/2 with my boyfriend. It was so mouth watering that I forgot which sandwich I ordered. I took mine to go but you could easily grab a spot inside of the establishment or out on the sidewalk for some al fresco dining. They have all menus available in all the languages. Simple counter service, like a deli - you order first, pay once it is ready. Lots of drink options. I was planning on stopping by again before heading back to Germany and I hesitated because of how long it took. I guess you could place an order and walk away but I didn't.

So this is a great place for a fancy sandwich and a nice of wine when you are on the budget. It is close to the metro which helps and you can do you shopping and have a nice lunch out. Again it is Copenhagen so it is not cheap. However it is much cheaper than the sit down restaurants where the tack on 25% just to bring it to your table. The flavours are fresh. And the ambiance is fun. Server was friendly. Nice to try if you want to try the open face sandwich and not break the bank to eat out.

Roasted Pork sandwich with red cabbage

A great fast sandwich to eat around the block from central station. There were no lines ups when I went mid-day. The sandwich was tasty and well seasoned. Price is roughly $23CAD for just the sandwich, this is Copenhagen though. The restaurant is small with limited seating for groups larger than 2.

Seeing the glowing reviews, I was really looking forward to this. Maybe my first mistake was not eating on a totally empty stomach. My eating schedule was off, and I felt I needed something to eat before going to sleep. The sandwiches are quite large. I got the #1 (the "reccomendation") even though I don't often get ham sandwiches. While it was good, I was personally underwhelmed. Could be for any of the reasons mentioned above, and I wish I had another chance to get something. Is it because I'm a pretentious American that lives in the land of delis that I just turn my nose up at sandwiches everywhere now? But also, I get that sandwiches in Cph mean something different than sandwiches of the States. Go for it, for a filling meal... but don't expect to be blown away.

Tasty sandwich ! I got the #1 to share, which has this delicious brown bread that's been toasted and pressed with Brie cheese , ham, and bacon. There's also great accompanying items like some salsa, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and bell peppers. Plenty going on. I might go back to try the roasted pork

Poor quality turkey sandwiches. Their deli meat tastes just like an Oscar Meyer hot dog on a wheat bun.

I ordered two of their turkey sandwiches (club and turkey with emmentaler) and was really disappointed. The problem is they do not roast their own turkey like they do their chicken. Despite the good reviews the sandwiches tasted like an Oscar Meyer hot dog on a wheat bun, salty, the bbq sauce was thin, and everyone knows it. I thought it was crap for the price you pay.

#4 roast pork and #1 Danish ham

In absolute love with this sandwich shop and its sandwiches. We came here for our first dinner in Copenhagen and back again for our last breakfast because it was that memorable. I truly don't think you can go wrong with any order here. Of all the places we had been in Denmark, this one is by far the most outstanding. My favorite sandwich (and perhaps favorite sandwich ever?) is the #4, which comes with roast pork, pickled cucumbers and Danish red cabbage. The pork was phenomenally juicy with a crisp skin on top, and it paired well with the tart pickles. We tried ordering this on our last day, but unfortunately the pork wasn't ready in the early am. #1 is one of their most popular orders, with Danish ham, brie cheese, bacon, and homemade salsa. It reminded me of an elevated club sandwich. #9 came with roast beef, manchego cheese, and homemade salsa.

Absolutely a full five stars. To start, these sandwiches are HUGE. One sandwich is enough for 2 people. We ordered 2 and couldn't finish. There isn't a ton of seating, so you might have to take away. We lucked in to a table and waited probably 20 minutes for our sandwiches. They came on fresh brown bread and were nice and warm. So delicious. We started chatting with an employee who made some drink recommendations from the cooler and talked to us about Denmark. Not sure the next time I'll be in Copenhagen but will absolutely return!

This unassuming sandwich joint is famous for Huge hot sandwiches filled with top notch meat and vegetables. Sandwiches are made when ordered so be prepared to wait 15 minutes or so. Roast beef - definitely a winner, stuff full with meat and veges. Fried pork - fresh crispy pork and sweet purple cabbage balances the flavors out wonderfully.

Huge sandwiches at an incredible price. Really glad I stopped by here. We ordered the #1 (Smagsløget Anbefaler) and #4 (Flæskestegssandwich aka roast pork). They sandwiches are served on toaosted rye with a great mix of meat, local vegetables, and cheese. Both were delicious but definitely way too much food for two people. They have a nice selection of drinks as well, which was a nice plus. As a tourist it was fun to try out a local beverage along with my sandwich. Great spot to stop by for a quick lunch or dinner.

We arrived at 1 PM on Friday and they were already sold out of the roasted pork. We ended up ordering the Chicken/Bacon/Avocado sandwich and the Chicken/Chili/Cheese sandwich and then debated on whether to get the berry smoothie (but some folks sitting nearby eating sold us on how great the smoothie was -- and they were right!). The sandwiches had good flavor and we ended up splitting each one -- which gave us some variety for our lunch. There isn't a lot of seating available here, so if your hotel is within walking distance here, I'd recommend taking it to go and then eating in the hotel lobby/courtyard. That's what my wife and I ended up doing.

It was just a sandwich, but the experience made it taste incredible. They very apologetically asked me to change seats and felt bad so they gave me a free smoothie (which was also delicious) The restaurant is small, hours are limited, but worth a visit if you pass by and its not busy.

We order three smorrebrod and we ate them in the Tivoli food hall. All were served on plates. The correct way to eat was with a fork and knife as we learned while watching an episode of Somebody Feed Phil. The chicken salad was undoubtedly our favorite. Lots of shredded chicken but overall smooth and tasty. We crumbled the bacon to add some texture and that was even better. The marinated salmon was ok but we liked the nice pop of flavor from the pomegranate seeds. I may try to add them at home to my smoked salmon. The egg and shrimp smorrebrod was tastier. We returned our empty plates back to the counter when we were finished. Not completely in love with open face sandwiches but may try again on a future return trip to Copenhagen.

You can find Hallernes on the fifth floor of the shopping mall. We got there later in the day and there was still an array of toast options - some vegetarian, others pescatarian and others with a heaping of meat on top. We enjoyed the tartar, lemon & dill shrimp and the traditional pork toast. Each was somehow better than the next. Everything was so fresh which really enhanced the contrast of flavors on our plates. We liked it so much we contemplated going back and ordering more! We sat in the dining area to eat, which had a high chair available. We also got a window seat which had a beautiful view of the square below and some stunning architecture. We sat there for awhile just enjoying the view. When we were flying out of the Copenhagen airport we noticed this same restaurant inside one of the terminals. It's awesome to see such high quality food be offered in such casual but busy spaces. We'll definitely be back!

Only places requiring reservations know how to run their reservations system - not this place. Here was my experience. Yours will be identical or worse. You're better off hitting a pølser truck. Says it on their website. Reservations needed. So I made a reservation on their website. Only it was a bait and switch. I got a response message telling me that I had not made a reservation but was now on a waiting list. No further insights. Like it and lump it. I'm a solo diner so I emailed the email address provided on the website to obtain further information. Go figure. I inquired if they had any spots open for one single person in the six remains hours. One hour goes by, as I'm checking my emails. Nothing. Two then three hours - nothing. I stayed in and gave up. Tak pal. The next morning I see I got zero response all night. So I wrote a snarky email to them that morning after. My email didn't seek to evoke or inflict trauma but rather convey an expression of my valid dissatisfaction over their casual unprofessionalism. I was raised Danish. Taught to bow as a boy. Manners matter here in this lovely city. Manners matter period. Apparently not at Barners. Their response? A blow off saracastic email where I am told - not asked - but TOLD to have a nice day. And you know what? I did! It's Copenhagen! I conclude this micro-screed of my minor tirade on that humorous note not to dilute the importance of my complaint but set it in perspective. They sling chow for a living. I was on vacation. No one lost a limb - in fact I likely saved an arm and a leg judging by their prices. This eatery must not be run by Danes. Danes are the kindest, most polite people on earth. Had it been a Dane seeing my email, I'd have gotten a quick note offering minor polite apologies and frankly ensuring a higher likelihood I'd try again in the future by treating me with the kindness Danes are famous for - except if you're a WWII collaborator. But whatever Barner help just shot me a sarcastic, dismissive "have a nice day" response meant "get lost - I can't be bothered and you're foolish for expressing dissatisfaction. I am too busy and self-impressed to sort out a reservation system that fairly and effectively accommodates our patrons." Try Tight or any number of droves and oodles of other fine Danish eateries. This place must be run by Etruscans or Mesopotamians - you're thinking "aren't they extinct?" You betcha! And it all started with poor treatment of restaurant patrons! Oh and Københavner Cafeen is another first rate eatery!

Freshly squeezed OJ. Bagelwiches = bagel + cream cheese + cheese slice + protein + veggies = Yummy goodness! ***The long read*** How I got here: I had an early morning flight from Prague to Copenhagen. Lack of sleep and the early morning flight had left me tired and hungry. My friend who'd been to Copenhagen before mentioned this as a must visit place so I thought of grabbing a quick breakfast here on my first day in Copenhagen. I took the M2 train from the airport and got out at Kongens Nytrov. A quick 4 mins walk later I was here at the Bagel co. Ambience: Although it's a tiny place the aroma of freshly baked bagel won't let you miss this place as you walk past it. It has a bench on the inside and 2 tables with 2 chairs each on the outside. Menu is on the inside and outside as well. You can see a display of fresh veggies and meat behind the glass. The experience: You can pick from a preset menu that's on the wall both inside and outside. They're all bagel sandwiches (bagelwiches?) served hot or cold depending on the protein inside. Small fire icon besides the hot one would cue you as to which of them are hot sandwiches. You can either choose the preset ones or order your own sandwich. They have popular options like omelet, Lox, pulled pork and even veggie options like the veggie, falafel etc. You get to choose from a variety of bagels like cheddar, plain, tomato, sesame and different cream cheese. Feel free to swap out any of it. You can even get different cream cheese on each slice. Veggies are super fresh. If you don't believe, just hear the lettuce crunch as they shape it into your bagel. I found myself coming back to this place again and I ended up trying the omelet, spicy chicken sandwich and Lox (smoked salmon) Out of the 3, my favorite was Spicy chicken. The chicken was tender and with just the right level of spice. Omelet with bacon in it is also the quintessential breakfast of the Americas! They serve coffee and freshly squeezed OJ! I got introduced to bagels in NY 10 yrs ago, so the idea of bagel has always been bagel + cream cheese and that's it. Although I've seen bagelwiches before, this place is what got me hooked on to the idea of it. I am almost afraid to try out bagel sandwiches in the US because the Bagel co has set the bar really high. If the US ones don't meet the bar I may just have to book a flight to Copenhagen to get my fix!
