I thought I'd return, to use the cards and also give them another chance. Well, it will be my last time. The overall staff "vibe" is too busy doing whatever to help. We ordered some mortadella from the deli, didn't specify the thickness and wasn't asked, we came home to find it cut super thick (think bologna). Our fault for not specifying. $19 for 500g We then asked for a loaf of raisin bread. It was listed for $7.25 yet on the receipt it was $9..... A $8 bag of crouton sticks and we ventured to the cafe. This time knowing better we didn't order hot food. A few cookies and a mocha. This was fine, however the mocha seemed to lack mocha... was very pale in colour, not sure if it was missed or just weak. Not sure this will matter to anyone as the store seems to have a very loyal following and is busy. But we won't be back again.

The mutton sausage roll had a strong lamb flavour but that's fine for us because we love the lamb flavour and the pastry was flaky. But it felt a bit dry. The pretzel was dry and not chewy. It was disappointing. The almond croissant was too sweet. The chocolate cookie was a bit chewy but not chewy enough. The ham and cheese croissant had a generous portion of ham in it but it was not flaky enough. I didn't get a chance to try any bread but I think that's probably what they are known for. The items we tried were kind of disappointing.

We ordered a bread loaf at Fol Epi to take home as we've been before and loved it. This time we got the French loaf, it's not full sourdough but still fresh as can be and crusty exterior. I also got an iced vanilla matcha which was delish. We also ordered two danish style cheese pastry wheel things, my only criticism was the cheese was quite cook so it's more of a crunch pastry than a soft one with also a hint of mustard. Service was quick and very nice! Staff was chatty. No pics because we ate everything real fast lol.

Highly recommend a visit!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Fox & Monocle in the North Saanich/Sidney area, and the…read moreexperience was truly memorable. From start to finish, everything was beautifully prepared and wonderfully served. We began with the truffle gougere -essentially delightful little cream puffs filled with melted parmesan that were absolutely to die for. Each bite was rich and delicious. Next up was the bread served with onion butter, which had a fantastic flavor profile. My only tiny wish was that the bread had been toasted just a bit to help that lovely butter melt right in. For the main course, we shared a mushroom pie that was beautifully presented and had that comforting, home-cooked feel. The standout dish of the night, though, was the rock fish. The fish was tender, flaky, and paired with pillowy soft gnocchi that was just perfect in texture. We ended the meal with a dark chocolate namelaka (a type of soft biscuit) and a sticky toffee pudding, both beautifully presented. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious, though I personally would have loved just a bit more of that rich sauce to soak up the entire cake, Overall, the service was wonderful, and the meal was impeccable. The area is truly lucky to have such a fine dining gem, and I can't wait to go back again!

My order took a little while, but that made sense given how long the line was. I got my drink first, then the sandwich came out a few minutes later. The first bite was amazing. Super flavorful. The bread was soft and tasted fresh. I tried a few bites of my friend's vegan sandwich too, and honestly, it might've been even better than mine. How is vegan food this good?? I had the danish later at home and it was really good too. Can't wait to go back. I want to try the vegetarian sandwich next time and maybe pick up some of their cool merch.
