A must to stop at on your late Summer drive to the hills or going to our other favorite food spot---Swingle Meats--in Jackson!!! Make a trip to get your farm fresh produce and then go to get a few month supply of gourmet meat at Swingle! This little gem offers lots of fresh fruit veggies and THE CORN!!!!! They also have all sorts of nuts, healthy (and naughty) snacks to take home, and even have fresh and frozen fruit pies and cobbler. The folks working here are also super nice! You are bound to leave with some pretty amazing goods to take home to enjoy! read more

We stopped as we were passing by on the way home and browsed the market. It seems to be hit or miss. We bought some great nectarines and snow peas, but the corn didn't hit the mark. This is actually the second time we've come to this stand and thought the corn was underwhelming, we were hoping the first time was just a bad batch/season. Now over a year later it's still not what I'd expect from farm fresh corn. They did have some dried foods, jams, salsas and other items that looked good. We tried some okra chips that are super tasty. I would say keep your expectations in check and make sure if you're buying fresh produce that you make sure to check everything, especially the corn. read more

Been going there for 20 years.. Moved to Georgia would love to go back just for corn and the nice drive..

Love the yellow corn and other fresh products. The corn is reasonably priced at $4.25 a bag with 8 ears. Whites are the same but I'm a fan of yellow corn. read more

It has been a long time coming, but we finally set that early Saturday morning alarm for the break of dawn. The journey began, a fairly quick 45 minutes from home and then to our final destination - the farm. Finally, my chance to live out my childhood and adulthood dreams to be a farmer for a day. We picked, shucked, cut, scratched and hauled fresh farm produce from field to trunk. We left with 150 lb of produce in the trunk of our car for less than $0.50 a pound. This is a gem and experience that should be had by anyone with children and a connection to agriculture. We had so much fun bagging up our haul and sharing with our family. I will definitely go pickin and grinning every year from now on! The watermelons were literally our favorite. The watermelon was perfectly ripe, sweet crisp and juicy. I definitely can't compare it to any store-bought this season. read more

Came here with family and this was my first time at this farmer's market and they had a lot to offer, corn duh lol, dried fruit, snacks, candy, pumpkins etc! The staff were very helpful and friendly, which was a plus! Tip: the produce marked in green ink vs black on their white boards above each item, means that's its grown there vs sent in from elsewhere. I was happy with my purchases and for chips, a veggie and lots of fruit, it was $15 I believe, not bad and I'll definitely be back next time I am in the area. read more

Be sure to look for the SweetCorn signs. We have been coming here for years. Fresh fruits and veggies grown locally. We love the bags of corn 8pk or 24 pack or individual. The corn is so crisp and fresh tasting. We also buy the pickling cucumbers every other year for canning. They also have some dried products from other farms grown in California. We have tried the mix veggie pack and the dried fruits for road trips they taste great. Plums, apples, cantaloupe, peaches, green beans, jalapeño peppers, zucchini, gourds, tomatoes. The strawberries you can pick yourself from their farm all these are some of the fresh produce we have tried over the years and love them. They do offer many other items we just haven't tried them. During pumpkin season you can get any size pumpkins from tiny to extra large. Check them out sometime. read more

Nice farm stand in a huge barn. Super fresh corn and other vegetables. I also bought the berry pie that they stock from another small business. Corn, both the yellow and the white, was good. Pie was quite good too. Also bought dehydrated veggie bag and another of garlic chips, both of these were good too. I didn't mind the high-to-me price for the dehydrated items, since I cannot do dehydration myself and I'm paying for their time and energy to run their dehydrator. I'd never had dehydrated garlic slices and they are really quite good! My family was impressed by the dehydrated veggie chips and said the beets and carrots were the best flavors. read more

I have been going to this place to buy corn since 1984 we used to give it away as gifts it was highly valued today I stopped by and asked if I could taste some corn before I bought it the gentleman who is married into the family of the owners of the farm said they don't do any tasting there so I bought 24 ears of corn and I will put a picture here. The corn is stunted they are rotten they are small under developed and not ripe very disappointing. They are not edible I did not have time to return them today but I definitely will! read more

Second year in a row I've driven past Sloughhouse for corn last year the ears were small not up to the old Sloughhouse standards. This year Mon July the 18'th bought a sack of eight got it home, bottom of ears were rotten and many smashed kernels. Put in freezer to return to them next time I pass thru. Been buying much better corn at me Cost Less in Jackson. Very Sad ...!!! read more

Ummm, wait! I drove 2 hours to get here for them to tell me they have no sweet white corn? Darn it!!! Note to self, call before you plan your trip. So we bought yellow corn. Anyways, as always, they were busy. I enjoy coming here to see them work in action from hauling the corn in, dumping it in the bin, workers packing them in a bag and here ya go, we take em home and put them on the grill to share with friends and family. We raved about these suckers and how they're the best of the best and boy, even I was disappointed. We had left overs only to be thrown out. They were too creamy/pasty. I can't explain. It wasn't good. Unlike last years, OMG they're sweet white corn was super yummy. Anyway you cook it, it was good. We have to return in Aug for their white corn and dammit!!! You best be good cuz we gonna feed the family read more

Not sure what all the fuss is about. Just picked up 2 bags of corn today. One bag was yellow corn...8 for $3.75. The other bag was white corn for the same price. I took it home immediately and cooked it up. So starchy. I don't understand why this corn was so darn starchy fresh from the field. There are trucks pulling up to the stand constantly dumping loads of fresh picked corn. Sorry but I find better corn from Brentwood at Raleys and Bel Air and Safeway. I'll give this place 3 stars for the produce, pumpkins, Lodi pies and lavender. A fun place to bring the kids. One more thing...no customer service. Not really friendly at all. read more

Have been coming to Davis Ranch since I was a kid. Yesterday we bought several items all were good except for the corn. The bag had many cobs with deformities, were under developed in size. Very disappointed. We even had bought a bag to give to the firefighters who we support as a gift and once we prepared ours, sent them an apology for any they may have also gotten in thier bag too. Not sure we will be back. read more

This place is great. They have an awesome selection of different fruits and veggies and they have pumpkins this time of year which is amazing. Most of the bad reviews on here are people that don't look at their produce before they buy it. So that's their fault. There's going to be bad produce the customer needs to do some extra work to pick out good ones. It's not a grocery store you idiots. Support farmers not corporations. read more

You should be ashamed of your corn. It was not sweet and old, bicolor and obvious brought elsewhere.

Sloughhouse Corn - Fruits & Veggies Near Me - Sloughhouse, California

In the summer everytime i've been here the corn has been picked the same day and its so sweet. Non GMO and very fresh and worth the drive. Salt n butter as a topping makes it perfect whether boiled or grilled or both. 8 pieces are about ~$3 and 24 pieces ~$8. So fresh u can peel them in a couple shucks and then pluck the few remaining strands. If u get 24 pieces and cant eat them all b4 they start to age, just peel 2 corn on the cob and shave it down from top to bottom w a good knife it fills a qt ziplock almost halfway in the freezer. To cook, simmer in a little water and butter w some salt when u want to reheat the fresh/frozen sweet corn. read more

I love shopping for produce here. It's a beautiful place with delicious fruits and veggies and honey. Worth the drive!!

The sweet corn here is a regional favorite and the rich soil generates a wide variety of other produce. What began as a small fruit stand has blossomed into a large outdoor market featuring (seasonal) pick-your-own fruit, pumpkins, Christmas trees, etc. as well as locally-made pies, bouquets and confections. It is literally on the side of Jackson Hwy and parking is reasonable if you avoid peak times of weekend mornings. If you are looking for a genuine farmer's market featuring delicious corn and fresh seasonal fruits and veggies, be sure to check out Sloughhouse! read more

I've been a fan of Sloughhouse corn for many, many years. But I just took a long drive there to get some fruits and veggies and .............I was disappointed. The corn, which has always been so sweet and tasty that you didn't even need butter was just mediocre. I also got some peaches that were somewhat sour and certainly not enjoyable. However, I got a watermelon that was outstanding and like eating candy. But it's certainly not worth the long drive just for a watermelon. What happened? Where's the sweet corn that you couldn't find anywhere else but Sloughhouse? read more
