This is for Slomin's Oil/Heating: I strongly advise against using Slomin's for oil delivery. I placed an order on Wednesday and was told it would be delivered Friday. By Saturday, with no delivery and no notification, I called customer service and was told it wouldn't arrive until Tuesday -- nearly a week after ordering. There was no proactive communication and no meaningful help from customer service. When you're relying on heating oil, delays like this are unacceptable. STAY FAR AWAY. At least every 2 months this alarm fails. Randomly, the alarm goes off for no reason and can't be shut off. Regularly, the pad gets stuck in connecting to hub mode and can't be re-set, resulting in the alarm going off. Tech support includes telling me to use a paperclip (yeah, really) to disengage the alarm. When this doesn't work, one has to go looking for their equipment to unplug and then remove a battery pack from the board. This is a multi-step process. The system keeps chirping and more actions need to be taken, or the alarm will go off in the middle of the night. Finally, the alarm is disengaged. But they need to send someone out. TEN DAY WAIT FOR TECH SUPPORT TO COME!!!!!!!! No refunds until tech support has come. Try to cancel the service. Nope, predatory business. Sales person said contract could be cancelled at any time. With glee, the nasty phone person told me, you can cancel, you have to remove the equipment yourself, and you are actually locked in for another 47 months, so you will have to pay, even if you cancel. Awful customer service. On 7/28/25 I was home when all of a sudden my alarm goes off. No it's not the battery. I decided to let it sound believing Slomins would call me. Well after 14 minutes no call from Slomins. I contacted the company explain my alarm have been sounding for 14 minutes and no call. He said we didn't get anything. I replied well I think that's a problem. He was clueless . I the customer suggested maybe you need to send out a technician. I had Slomins years ago and the service was great. They use cheap equipment, which they have stayed the same in the 10+ years I have had a service with them. Also, when I got on their website and asked some questions regarding their equipment through chat, they just responded rudely and gave me answers from guides and generic responses like talking to a bot. I don't recommend this company. Something has changed over the years. I will look for a better security company soon. They have raised their service fees but have yet to improve their services. Sadly, Customer Service is inconsitent and clearly not a priority for Slomin's. Expect to wait two weeks for a technician to arrive and provide support or repairs. And, make at least two calls to Customer Service as not all information and advice provided is consistent and accurate. I had constant issues with false alarms, even receiving warnings from local police. Customer service was incredibly slow--usually taking weeks to respond. Now that I'm moving out of their service area, they're trying to charge me $1,000 for equipment that was installed years before I moved in. I signed a new contract at a higher rate, yet they're still claiming I "took over" the old one. I've since read many reviews from others with similar complaints. Do not use this company for your home security needs. We sold our house two days ago and tried to cancel our contract. We were told that even though we no longer owned our house, we were still responsible for the duration of the contract. However, NOWHERE within four corners of the contract does it say that a customer is responsible even though they sell their house. However, the rep with whom we spoke said, well, that is what they intended the contract to say. Guess what Slomin's, if you want a contract to say that, you have to explicitly say that in the document. And you didn't. Furthermore, Slomin's also said that they would reduce the amount owed if the new owners would take on the contract but we would still be responsible for a cancellation fee. Really? That is a windfall to which you are not entitled. I understand that Slomin's has made an investment by installing a piece of equipment in the house. However, you can't continue to charge a customer if they sell their house, especially if there is not an express provision in the contract. read more

Stay away - other alarm companies are better. What the sales person says vs what the tech is able to do vs the costs you were told when agreeing are all red flags I should have noticed. Slomin representatives are scanning the Hamilton Twp area soliciting to expand their services. The sales representatives are promising stellar service to various security options. Cameras, Entry Alarms, Doorbell Cameras etc. They promise a quick installation, quick customer service and state of the art equipment. While they may be correct about equipment. They left my home without completing the installation, and now that they have my installation fee and first month payment, getting them to come and complete the installation has been a challenge. They sent a service person today who was too lazy to get out of the van and knock on my door. Because the call he made to my phone went straight to voicemail, he left and now time I've wasted waiting around all day can't be recovered and they can't send another service person until sometime next week. I bought a house with Slomin's equipment installed. One night before we moved in, the system malfunctioned and we couldn't turn it off. My poor daughter was in the house and panicking. After repeated calls to the help line(with significant wait times each time), the system is still malfunctioning. And the alarm is still going off. (Day 2 and counting!!!) I had Slomin's give us an estimate last week(I would have preferred to use the system already in place.. makes sense,right) The sales person used the oldest slippery sales tactics in the book. then the estimate came out significantly over what many of the newer systems cost. Slomin's is the WORST security company ever. I signed a contract with them which included a camera, which was never installed. I called the company three times to inform them of the improper billing, as I was being charged for the camera and its usage. Each time I was told someone would get back to me and my number was taken. I continued to make the introductory payment until the issue was rectified. I at one point (years down the line) received calls from the company telling me I needed to have an additional piece installed that was mandatory and would cost an additional $60. When I received the first call regarding this additional cost and piece, I asked about the billing error again, to which I was told they had no information on and to call another department. When I attempted to access my account online, there was never anything there to further rectify the issue. The information on the site was rarely (if ever) updated. I'm currently being sued by them for breach of contract when THEY'RE the ones that weren't holding up their responsibility to the customer to prevent any issues and maintain the contract. I wish I'd researched them before signing with them. Unfortunately, I signed based on the recommendation of a friend/ neighbor who in the long run also has issues with them. Go with anyone BUT Slomin's. A baseball bat, a bible verse, the blood of a lamb on your door, a chihuahua and some security rails on your windows are ALL more reliable than Slomin's. read more

My alarm has gone off a couple of times . 2 times were legitimate. all the while, the monitoring service never calls to see if you and your family are ok. I called to ask why, their response while talking over you is "the alarm needs to be on for a minute." Does anyone at slomin realize the damage that can happen in a minute. Very bad communication with this company I ordered a camara and doorbell and they told me it would be free installment and all I had to pay was 49.95 a month I paid it waited a couple day till the installment day and decided to call to see what time they where going to come and they end up telling me that I have to pay $300 of down payment on my contract it doesn't say I need to pay any down-payment they didn't even call me to tell me anything at all just took my money. read more

I don't know what happened to this company. We had our alarm system installed almost 20 years ago when we bought our house. They gave us 2 hard wired smoke detectors, 2 motion sensors and 1 keypad for free with a 5 year contract. It worked fine for almost 15 years. There was a minor issue with the motion detectors because we have cats, but Slomins sent someone out to narrow the field or whatever they do. I figure if someone wants to break into the house that badly you aren't going to stop them. We don't keep cash or major valuables around and TVs haven't been worth stealing since the 80s. The only downside was that their alarm was wired to a landline phone so I had to keep a landline for a few years longer than I wanted Fast forward to 3 years ago. Our outside alarm box went. They came and replaced it but wanted some ridiculous amount. So I called and told them the nice people at ADT said they would remove their old alarm box if I went with them. Miraculously we found a solution. Free box if I resigned for 5 years. No problem. About 2 years ago I was contacted by them and was told they needed to upgrade our system, no charge, to a newer control pad and was also told they were doing cameras, which I wanted. So they sent a sales rep who went through everything. There was a fee for the cameras but the upgrades were free. Fine. So the tech comes to do the work. That's where the problems started. First, the cameras were hard-wired and the guy said he needed to start drilling additional holes like Woody Woodpecker all over the house (we have a late 19th century house with original woodwork, wasn't happening). Then I was told the cameras that were to go on the garage needed to be wired into the electric system of the house. I said no to that too because that wasn't what the sales rep said. The outside cameras were supposed to be battery operated. So they tech replaced the keypad and two smoke detectors. No issue. Then I got a bill for hundreds of dollars. I called and they said I only got free upgrades to smoke detectors if I ordered cameras. I tried to explain their sales guy failed to mention all these contingencies and lied about the cameras being hardwired. After much back and forth they agreed to waive the fees for the smoke detectors. Fine all was good... Until... about a month ago the new smoke detector started going off. After a few calls to customer service it was determined the unit need to be replaced. Putting aside it was less than 2 years old, no big deal. So the tech comes out, replaces the unit and leaves. Then I get ANOTHER bill for hundreds of dollars. I call and I am told that the unit was only guaranteed for a year so I owe them for the tech visit and the new unit. I told the customer service rep I was more likely to donate the money to the Flat Earth Society than give it to Slomins. First I was told they could sue, I told them go ahead, that's what I do for a living. Then someone got on the line who said if I agreed to a 1 year service contract for $125 they would include this visit. I grudgingly agreed to that. All was good right? Ha ha ha, nice try suckers, this is Slomins we are talking about. So about a week ago I was cooking and the kitchen filled with smoke and the newly replaced fire alarm went off, as it was supposed to. Except it wasn't registering on the control pad which meant it wasn't reported to the central station. Of course I called customer service. The person on the phone had me run through a couple of tests to arrive at the obvious conclusion that the smoke detector wasn't registering, duh. We have a pit bull and another dog. No one is breaking into my house unless they have a death wish. If a pit bull doesn't scare someone away a crappy alarm system chirping won't do the job. I primarily keep the alarm for the fire alarms. So here I am waiting for the tech, again. Fifteen minutes until the end of the "window period." I gave them two stars for posterity's sake. Slomin's is a ripoff, they are the ABSOLUTE WORST. I had construction done on my house and my contractor had to disassemble the alarm system. After the construction was done, i called up Slomin's to reconnect my alarm system. They told me they would have to send a tech out at NO CHARGE to Re-evaluate what has to be done and to see what items i am missing such as door, window sensors, etc. which i would have to pay for. I agreed. They told me it would cost me a $1,000.00 to reconnect the system if i didn't sign another 5 year contract. If i agree to signing another contract they would waive all fees. I told them, i was shopping around and would let them know when i was ready. Two weeks later, I cancelled the alarm system and went with another company, i asked the agent that cancelled my alarm, if i owed anything. She said no. They send me a bill for $100.00 a month later for the re-evaluation, which i was told would be free. I would never recommend them to anyone. I've been with them for over 5 years, and every 3 months the bill keeps going up by $5-10. Such a rip off. Just because i cancel my alarm system, which they weren't even monitoring for the last 3 months, they hit me with a $100.00 inspection fee and if i don't pay it, they threaten to send me to collections. You're better off going with ADT or another provider. ADT have a more technically advance system than slomin's with more features. Lock you into long term contracts without letting you know and try to charge an outrageous amount to cancel early. I rent a house that only uses oil for heat. The shady salesman signed me up for a payment plan as a house renter. The next day he calls me to tell me to not let anyone at Slomins know that I rent as I am not supposed to be on a payment plan as a renter. They give you a service call window that requires you to be home ALL DAY and then they don't show up, show up late after the time frame they give you has passed already, they don't return calls, they don't call even after promising follow up calls, they charge way too much compared to other companies and give you half of what others provide. Said he was at house one of the days but could not enter - Odd, since the other four trucks of workers were able to find their way in. Over 13 years this is the first time I requested service and they couldn't get it right. Terminated this account because of this. Fax number on letterhead just rings and never picks up.
