    J&E Contracting - After!

    J&E Contracting

I contacted J&E contracting because I had a leak and due to no plumbers being available for weeks…read more It ruined part of the ceiling and the plumber had to cut out the sheet rock. I first called and spoke with Javier who asked me to text him pics etc. he got back to me the same day. I sent him pictures of what needed to be done and he was very detailed about the questions asked me. This told me he was very serious about taking this job because I reached out to another company (Alcaraz) and sent them all the same info and they ghosted me but, I'm glad they did. Anyway, once we set the date and time he was super communicative, the whole time. He showed up on time with all of his materials ready to work. Once the hole was covered he even went to Home Depot to get the exact color paint for my ceiling. I felt very comfortable with Javier who was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I feel I received a fair price for the work that was done. He definitely went above and beyond and I can't even tell where that hole was before, he did a great job and cleaned up nicely afterwards. I'd most definitely hire him for any work I need in the future.

He diagnosed the problem as a small leak in the roof and went about fixing that, testing it to make sure the leak didn't reoccur and then he did a beautiful job, patching sanding and painting the ceiling such that I cannot even tell where the repair occurred. I would highly recommend him as he was more than easy to work with, very communicative, and very fair on his pricing. An important consideration for me was that he was able to do this within a timeframe of three days prior to my next guest arriving. I am so appreciative to Javier for all his excellent work. Thank you!

Handy Pro 24/7 - Really? These kinds of marks are all over the deck and he even wrote on the brick of the house.

I hired Kelly Bruce Jordan to repair some water damage to my home on June 12th. I paid a deposit of…read more33% down. The job consisted of fixing the damaged ceiling in our kitchen area, the floor in one of the bedrooms on the second story, and the bathroom where the leak occurred consisting of new flooring, bathtub replacement. Also, a door added to the bonus room. These areas were to be painted as well. We paid for all the materials he listed upfront and sent him links to the replacement bathtub and faucets, we had selected from the big orange home improvement store's website. When these items arrived on June 16th, he inspected the bathtub and tub faucet. He raised a problem that the flexible drain hose provided was likely not adequate and suggested we use PVC piping. I authorized and paid for the materials and he picked up the PVC piping and elbows in order to make a better drain for the tub. We added some tasks such as installing a new microwave over the stove and a ceiling fan and painting the kitchen walls. We negotiated new labor charges and paid him accordingly, only this time we paid him a 50% deposit on the new work on June 17th as he requested. When our ceiling fan arrived, he tried to install it but there was an issue and he informed us it was faulty. I returned it and paid for a new one which he picked up the next day and installed. It worked fine. During his work in the bathroom area, he noted some room behind the demolished bath area and suggested we expand into the newly available space. He also suggested some shelves be added. We agreed and told him we would like to open up the bathroom more and remove 2 interior non-load bearing walls. Bruce told us that the walls had issues that would prevent us from tearing them down completely. He also suggested we install a beam across the entire ceiling to help support the drywall. We took his suggestions to heart and agreed to a half wall on each side instead of full removal. We negotiated and agreed to all of the new charges for his labor on June 23rd. This time he asked us to pay him 100% of his estimate for this specific work up front and we did. He often spoke about how work had slowed down and he was grateful for the extra income. Later, he pulled me aside and told me he could not easily install a beam to support the ceiling because of an issue with the joists, so he made a suggestion to instead cover the existing exposed studs and supports with a faux beam and we agreed. During this work, he accidentally knocked out a portion of the wall that led into the landing area adjoining the bathroom. He did patch the drywall in this area but did not paint it. We never had a chance to discuss further remediation. At this point that the work was about 50% done. No single room was near completion. The kitchen had 2 of the quoted 3 coats of mud but had not yet been primed or painted. The bedroom had most of the flooring installed, but the quarter round trim and baseboards were not yet painted or fully attached to all of the walls. The transition strips for the bedroom were also not installed. The bathroom had the drywall and shelf constructed, primed but not painted. The faux beam was constructed and installed with one coat of stain and poly applied. No flooring had been installed in the bathroom, or tub or faucet installation either. On June 29th he failed to show up. He had texted every day prior to let us know his arrival time, so this was odd. I texted and called him and he eventually texted me around 1 PM that he was searching for a part for the tub. I was surprised as the day before he had indicated he would be moving on to painting. He said he would call me later but wasn't coming to do any work. At 9 PM he called and said the tub was beyond his skill set. I asked if we could move past the tub issue and just do the other stuff. I stated I was disappointed he no-showed too. He got upset about how it wasn't his fault and said he had other jobs to do. He kept escalating and screaming to the point where I was concerned if we should let him back into our home. I asked Bruce since he was getting so upset, and that he was clearly looking to do other work if he was trying to just walk away. He agreed that was what he wanted and quit. Most of this will he said/he said but the following is concerning. He has a license number on our written agreement. I looked up his number on the Tennessee licensing website under Contractor, and again under Home Improvement, and could not locate him. I tried every combination of first, last, and company name with no results. I came back to his yelp, did a reverse google search on the images on yelp, and found they are just stock images from all over the web. I feel like he is misrepresenting himself and his skills to the public. Update - Google Kelly Bruce Jordan Siding and Crown Handyman Murfeesboro. He's a known scammer and criminal. Stay away.

Would NEVER recommend. Had him tear down and install a deck. Total nightmare. Difficult…read more Argumentative. Incapable of listening. Sulks and pouts when he doesn't get his way. Work was marginal AT BEST. If you need him to construct something that requires skills such as a staircase, good luck. No call no show on multiple occasions. Based on other comments seen on line, it could have been worse. Not sure why it says he is in Atlanta since he claims to live in Nashville. I would give him a zero if possible. Search on Google for Pro 1 Carpentry & Siding for more cautionary tales. Wish I could post photos. Reading the other reviews I feel like I got off lucky.
