We got a takeout for New Year's Eve and we know they were slammed with orders but the food was really lackluster. Their garlic Parmesan wings were one of the most under seasoned wings I've ever had. The steak was perfectly cooked, the toppings were loaded, and the tots were crispy and delicious I paired it with an unsweet iced tea with a splash of Sprite, which was so refreshing with the meal. The service was just as great as the food. Sheri was fantastic--super friendly, attentive, and clearly someone who genuinely cares about the people she's serving. My gut told me to walk away when I looked in the front door. Maybe three regulars sitting at the bar and owner sitting off to the side of them. Silly Philly idea. The "Philly" pretzel supposedly is all the way from Philly but you can buy it any dollar store across the country. Pizza came out barely warm, cheese not even melted. Spent a week in AMI and this was, by far, the worst place. It's easy to miss and if you do notice it, I'd recommend to keep on walking. read more

We stopped at Slim's Place for a taste of home after a beautiful walk on Bean Point Beach on Anna Maria Island. It's a perfect spot to pop in and watch the Phillies game. This was our first time at slims after being on the island every year for the last few years. Slims is a restaurant/bar on the north side of the island that carries a pretty wide menu. To give you an idea, we ordered cheesesteaks, pizzas, pasta, Philly pretzels, grouper tacos and mac n cheese. So much more on the menu too. We walked in and while it was busy, only waited about 20 mins for a big table. (Party of 7) Unfortunately that was the shortest wait. After about 15 mins i got up and asked for menus as we had not been given any yet. After that, took us about 15 mins to get Our drink orders in. Then another 15-20 to get our food order in. I know it was busy but we did see other tables around us getting their food and they ordered after us. As the food slowly came out, there really wasn't anything that was bad. The Philly's were delicious. Steak shredded well, lots of cheese, flavor throughout and the bread held well. Mac n cheese was extra creamy. My kids devoured it! Pretzel was delicious. Hot, crispy on the outside while being soft on the inside. Great cheese to dip. Grouper tacos had lots of flavor and fresh ingredients. Pizza was a little doughy, but overall, very good as well. Loved the local beers they had on tap. With the exception of the fact that it took us nearly 2 hours for dinner, slims gets my vote of approval. Just don't go if you need a quick meal! read more

Really upsetting. We sat down, ordered drinks and appetizers and waited for everything. Our drinks were brought out while we waited and then after a long wait (30 minutes) we were told the computer system and printer were down and that the kitchen couldn't take any orders. We had hungry children, and upon expressing our disappointment with not being told that food would not come out earlier, we were rudely told to leave and "never come back." The most shocking part was that they gave us a bill for our drinks. We were confused how the printers were broken, but they could still print a bill for us. What a disappointment. read more

Quite possibly the best Cheesesteak outside of Philly! Wandered into this bar unknowing that it was an Eagles bar, so felt right at home. My friends and family had the Cheesesteak, Philly tots, Thai tuna tacos, Pizza and Wings. Everything was delicious! Chef Jason is a master! We even came back another night because the food was so good! The beer was ice cold and the waitstaff incredible. I felt like we were being helped by 3 servers to make sure we were taken care of. We arrived at opening to watch the college football game NE vs IA. Little to no service the moment we sat down. But we had a group of 9 who drank and some ate . We were let known our table was reserved for the eagles game during the end of the third quarter of the game we came to watch . Server came and told up to basically finish up and leave. We'd all still planed to finish the game and order food but felt like we were kicked out , really sad Slim's Place. No one mentioned the tables reserved when we came in , and no one came back to our table after . Noticed some negative reviews and I gotta say we disagree! This is a sports bar folks. Lots of tvs, a simple ask and staff will change to your favorite game. My family and I tried to dine at Slim's on Thursday, 03/20. They were really busy and we didn't mind waiting. The woman (didn't get her name) that was taking names for the waiting list was very rude to not only our party but another person who was trying to put their name on it. She misheard the name that the gentleman said and he gave her the correct name and giggled. She got mad and said 'how the f am I supposed to know? I don't know you.' We also ordered a pitcher of beer while we were waiting and when we decided not to dine there after she was rude to the other person, someone in my party put their glass on the bar and the same person snapped at him for doing it and was very sarcastic. I was born and raised in Philly. After college (42 years ago) I was off to see the world, curtesy of the US Army. The cheesesteak was FANTASTIC! The best I've had in several decades. They have a Philly cheesesteak with the cheese wiz and it's perfect, as well as their huge lobster Mac n cheese portions. You can go from seafood to bar here and they all do it well. I have mixed feelings about this place. The food was absolutely delicious. We had a couple Philly specials and it was the best we have ever had. The bread was top notch and went well with the filling. GET THE PHILLY! We also got the Italian hoagie which was also very good. Sides we had were tots, potato salad, and Mac and cheese. All good! I really liked the Mac and cheese. It was creamy and warm and I wanted that. The reason for the docked stars is because the restaurant was absolutely packed, and it was very loud between the people trying to talk (yell) over the volume of the tvs and also the waitress forgot to put our order in so we were waiting for over an hour. They were short staffed in the kitchen which I can understand and sympathize with. The food still came out hot and yummy. But the wait was really long, and the fact that our order wasn't entered was a bummer. They gave us 25% off our bill which was a nice gesture. I would surely give them another try as I'm sure it was just an off night. But if you want yummy food, this is a good place to go. Give them a try, and get the Philly.
