Overrated, not good. The sides taste better than the entree. Probably should have asked for syrup on the side it was really sweet and got soft quick. Chicken was okay, different flavor. The batter was a good amount, very thin. The Mac and cheese was lukewarm, I love church's Mac and cheese. Cannot compare this place to the other chicken places, they're all different. But I still think Chick-fil-A for the chicken strips are better. This place reminds me of super chix. Must try out their other locations, maybe it would taste better. Nice atmosphere tho. Too bad they don't give out promotions. I would eat here again if they had coupons. Maybe an app with $1-2 off an order. read more

Well I have been very skeptical to try this place, as there are 100 other places to get chicken tenders and french fries. I cant say these are great, but they are okay. The chicken I recieved was fresh, and so hot I couldn't eat it, but the fries were cold and the toast was stale. This visit was at 9 pm on a Saturday. I dont feel like the box I got was worth almost $9 for 4 pieces, maybe I'll just stick to Raising Canes for fresh chicken strips and fries. read more

Was interested in trying this place, as it's very close to our house. It's air-conditioned, there's plenty of seating, and they have cold drinks. So, if I'm hot, want somewhere to sit, and something to drink, I might come back. I wouldn't come back for the food though. The only flavor I got on the tenders was salt, and the breading was thin and crunch free. The honey mustard wasn't bad, and the wings were fine, but the fried pickles were one of the worst things I've ever put in my mouth. And I've had fish eyes, so that's saying something. Their waffle was dry, bland, and, in our case at least, cold. Their was a manager wandering around asking different groups of diners how their food was, but he passed by my wife in line, and our table while we were eating, without saying anything to us for some reason. I'm not sure why. Possibly because he walked by after I'd just taken a bite of one of the fried pickles, and I had the look of someone ready to punish whoever was responsible for serving them So, if you're in the area, and you want to try something new, don't. read more

I wasn't too impressed to be totally honest. I mean, you can't throw a rock in DFW and not hit a chicken joint. Slim's is just average when compared to more local places or even better chains (Cane's, I'm looking at you). The chicken portions are a little on the small side. The house (slim) sauce is kinda gross, almost like a tangy ketchup or something. I also felt like the food was a little over priced for what you get. We avoided going inside since the place was a madhouse (had just opened a location on Tarrant Pkwy in Fort Worth) so we opted to wait it out via the drive thru. The service was decent- line went pretty quick and the person who took the order was patient since it was the first time we we seeing the menu. There are decent kids menu items, which is always cool in my book. Maybe I need to go back and give it a second chance. It's so close to where we live and it still seems to remain busy during peak hours- so people are staying interested (a good sign for sure). For now, three stars. A big, hearty "meh". read more

Thanks to an Instagram sponsored post we drove from Bedford to Slim Chickens to try it out! We opted for the drive thru bc we had company coming. I believe the managers (one was named Frank & is going to be the manager at the Hurst location) were standing in the drive thru with laminated menus, answering questions, and offering suggestions. I ordered the chicken & waffles, and a pb cheesecake jar for dessert. My husband got the 5 & 5 basket, 5 wings & 5 tenders with a side (he chose fries) and a fried apple pie for dessert. The waffle alone had a wonderful flavor & taste, was super fluffy and soft. Add the chicken on top & it was wonderful! My husband enjoyed the wings & tenders. I also like that we can get grilled tenders which are actually my preference if it is an option! Their sweet tea is the perfect amount of sweet, not overly sweet like some places, not a "fake sweet" taste. I would go back, and I will go back once the Hurst location is open. read more

Dude this was the best waffle i have ever have had. Idk if it was just a good day or its like this all the time. But not over cooked so its not omega crispy it was the right amount of crispy on the outside and the inside was so fluffy and not soggy at all. The chicken was really good as well, id ask for my butter on the side though, taste kinda funny while on the strips. But still the chicken was really good. We got a regular size fries as well (extra) and im a fry fan girl, im picky on my fries.....omg love love love theses as well. And great size for 1 person. Just loved this place very clean and lots of tvs and has a patio and drive through. Just really love this place. I am a huge fan of good chicken, and this place does it right! Their menu is very easy to choose from, and the offerings are all amazing! As a condiment fan, they also do it right by offering some 10+ dipping sauces for the chicken and sides. We got the fried pickles on our first visit, which were delicious! We are looking forward to trying other sides with our yummo chicken in the future. Oh, and it is just as affordable as Chickfila with more variety. Great find! read more

We've been eating here a lot lately. I really love the down home, bluesy front porch sitting, sweet tea sipping vibe. The chicken is tasty and we love the sweet teas. We tried the layered strawberry cheesecake desert and it was fabulous. The service is always friendly and the food relatively quickly. Good chicken. I ordered a mix of fried and grilled. The cashier trouble processing my order and after I asked about subbing the fries for fried pickles for no charge the kid working the counter said no problem. The manager got everything worked out and I found out I was charged extra. Oh well. The kid was new. The fried chicken was VERY lightly battered - probably a bit of flour and that was it. It was served extremely hot. So hot in fact I had to eat all my fried pickles before I could enjoy the fried chicken. The grilled chicken was incredibly bland and tasted like unseasoned grilled chicken. The sauce was terrible. The girl who came to check on us asked and agreed the sauce was bad and very tomato tasting. Overall I'll give it 4 stars because the chicken was served hot and the fried chicken had a nice flavor. My preference is more for fine dining, but my kids love chicken. It seems this area is well know for the many fast food chicken establishments, none I particularly care for. As we were driving by we noticed this location and of course my kids begged. I'm a sucker so we gave it a try. The decor is rather more warm feeling than fast food restaurants are traditionally. There is inside and out side dining. The selection was good. I was happy to see items such as potatoes salad (very sour creamy, but good), fried mushrooms, and fried okra. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Yummy! Some chicken tenders have to much breading, this was lightly breaded atop a fluffy Texas shaped waffle. Just enough butter and syrup! Took a small road trip on my day off over here to check it out. Any new chicken place always gets my attention, and never been to one of these places that offered fried pickles..are you kidding? Yea, I gotta try it. Got the three tenders combo, liked the fact that you can sub any side, so that kept me from having to spend an extra $4 for a large order of fried pickles since there isn't an option for a "side order size" of them. Fill your own drink and get your own seat. While I waited the only thing that stood out about the inside was that, while nice enough, it was a little loud. High, non insulated ceiling, concrete floor, with mostly metal chairs and tables, with some booths along the walls. It was kinda noisy, and when I went it was only about half full. Not crazy too loud to have a conversation noisy, but still more than usual. Not a big deal, just sayin'. Covered patio outside is a nice size, but not for me this time of year. Food comes over, tenders are decent size, light breading, not a lot of seasoning on them, but that's usually the norm in most places. Got a pretty good amount of fried pickles for a side sub, nice. Got the Slim sauce and the Cayenne Ranch. Didn't care for the Slim sauce, not my style, couldn't really discern a flavor, just sweet, but the Cayenne Ranch was really good. Sadly, I didn't notice the gravy option till later, get it next time. The tenders were good, cooked right, the fried pickles were not greasy, crisp, and very good, especially for a fast food place. Couldn't tell if they were made there, or frozen, but if frozen, then they're really good, because they tasted fresh. Not sure why I see some hate on here for the fried pickles. Mine had a little grease in the bottom of the basket. But most of the time you always get some of that with fried pickles. Honestly...fried...pickles..? Think about it. My only complaint about the fried pickles were the slices were almost too big to get into the dipping sauce cups. Anyway, it was good, all of it. I took my daughter here a week ago and we loved everything! We both got small portions of mac/cheese and a small chicken basket. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. When you walk in its a chill atmosphere and you see employees walking around cleaning and stuff so that's nice for a "fast food" place. The staff is pretty friendly. Their peach tea is amazing. A little too sweet but very good! We got their fried pickles, chicken wrap, chicken and waffles, and kids tenders. Their fried pickles were a little too sour. For whatever reason the chicken in the chicken wrap was drier then the chicken tenders in the basket and on the waffles. I only ate a fourth of my wrap cause it wasn't good. Again, I wish there were 1/2 Star Ratings. This fast-food chain is a little better than A-OK. It's a walk up, take order, and meal delivered to table type of setting. We ordered 2 of the Chicken & Waffles for my son and I and wifey got just a chicken tender basket w/ fries and Texas Toast. The food is delivered to our table hot and fresh. The waffle is in the shape of Texas and there's 3 (lightly breaded & fried) chicken tenders on top. They're buttered and have syrup already on them, but if you need more syrup, they've got bottles of Log Cabin nearby. I also ordered a side of Fried Okra since the Chicken & Waffles do not come with a side. I found the Belgian Style waffle fluffy and tender and the strips were done nicely as well. The fried okra was spot on. My wife said her Chicken Tenders were good, but they were also just run of the mill. They do offer a few different types of dipping sauces, which kills Cain's limited (one type) offering. As far as fast-food chicken goes, this place is pretty darn good. Loved the chicken and waffles and I'll probably never get around to tasting any any of the the other main options because it's too good. The cole slaw was just alright but the fried okra was pretty awesome. We also ordered the Reese's Cheesecake Dessert jar which they serve in a cute mason jar and send you home with which is always fun. They have clean highchairs, bathrooms and offer coloring pages for the kids so it's definitely kid friendly as well. I noticed they have a drive-thru so maybe in a rush one day it's good to know I have the option to grab some grub on the fly but not sure how my waffle would hold up till I got it home. This has become one of my favorite restaurants. I have been there several times and they have the best chicken! I have to say the price here is pretty good for the food you get. It was one of the first places I had tried to waffles and chicken. And I was so surprised to love it as much as I did. The manager on duty walked out and greeted us after we got our food (They told her it was our first time) and was super friendly. Her name was Cassie. Came across Slim's in a magazine debuting chicken places in the area. I had to check it out to see what all the fuss was about. Very nice and new and fun. The serve was top notch especially for a fast food type joint. I myself have never had chicken and waffles so it was the obvious choice. The waffle itself was amazing. Definitely in the top 2 I have ever had. Still not sure about the whole chicken and waffles combo. Will need to try it again to decide if I am a fan. The chicken was crispy and juicy. I visited this location for a curbside order tonigh. The staff was incompetent we ordered 2 drinks with our meal and said our drinks were in the bag????and the kid who brought it out had his hands in his mouth and chewing on a stray. This was my first visit I called and told manager on duty her name was Megan. Most employees weren't wearing masks on face but on neck. If your manager isn't competent enough to enforce rules replace her. Also to all the kids working there you don't deserve to work during a pandemic if you cannot follow food safety guidelines. This is probably the only location my family of four can agree on! Have eaten a few different things & NO complaints!!! Fries are probably the best I've ever had!! The only disappointment I had is the raspberry & peach teas BUT it could have been the timing. It was 10 minutes before closing. Definitely wouldn't affect us visiting again read more
