Fried okra

Slim Chickens is a new addition to the Clinton area. It's a chain with other locations, though I was unfamiliar. Their menu is centered around chicken (obviously given their name, lol) and you can get it as tenders, wings, sandwich, salad and I believe a wrap. Sides could include fries, potato salad, Mac and cheese, and Fried okra. They offer soft drinks, shakes, and dessert jars (that come in Mason jars). For my order, I shared tenders, Mac and cheese, fried okra, and the dessert jars. The only thing that we enjoyed was the tenders, which I guess is best since it's about chicken here. I'm not a big manc and cheese or Cheesecake person, so it wasn't surprising that I wasn't wowed by either. Different tastes so if you typically like those, could be a good option. Other notes: I did an online order and picked up inside but drive thru is available. The interior was clean based on the brier time I was inside. Parking is ample. The order was correct, meaning everything ordered was included. I'd maybe try it again for tenders and maybe a sandwich. Would recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

Great first experience at Slim Chickens! This location recently opened, and everything went smoothly on my first visit. I ordered ahead through the app, which was super easy to use, and picked up my order via the drive-thru. The service was quick and efficient, and my food was ready right on time. The food was hot, fresh, and really tasty, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish. I'll definitely be recommending Slim Chickens and will be back to try more items on the menu. Did not dine inside but the restaurant looked new and fresh.

Tried this instead of driving to Chick-fil-A since the price was about the same, but it wasn't worth it. Kids only liked the milkshakes. Toast had no flavor, fries were overly salty, sauces way too sweet, and the chicken somehow managed to be salty and bland. Yes, it's fast food--but still. We won't be back. At least it was clean inside. Ordered via app and picked up inside. I loved that the drinks are semi secured for deliveries.

Food: I'm a big eater and even the regular sub was packed with meat. I ordered a chicken cheesesteak and it was really good. My girlfriend got a regular cheesesteak and actually had to take some meat off because they loaded it up for her. We also tried the wedges and wings. The wedges were seasoned but tasted like frozen potatoes, they were okay. The wings were a little soggy and the flavor was just average, not something I'd go back for. Service / Timing: Both the cashier and the cook were friendly and welcoming. Value: Spent about $37 for everything we ordered, which felt like a good deal considering how much food we got. Highlight: Portions. Wrap-Up: The cheesesteaks are definitely the reason to come here. I'd come back for those for sure.

The lady who runs the spot was pretty nice and so was her staff. Not gonna lie it took a while to get my food but there was a line and my food was made fresh and you can actually look back there and watch them cook it. I felt like it was worth the wait. They have chairs where u can sit down and eat so that's nice as well. I would eat here again it's not a bad price either and I would consider it next time I want a cheesesteak for sure .

There is limited bar seating along the walls to sit and wait or eat your food. The staff there was friendly, but I will admit that my interaction with them was limited. They serve assorted barbecue including pulled pork, ribs, pulled chicken, smoked chicken, mac and cheese, collard greens, yams, brisket, fish, corn, BBQ beans, and green beans. I got the smoked wing combo with a side of collard greens and a side of candied yams. It took about 10 minutes for me to get my food and it was ok. The yams were heavy on cinnamon flavor, which drowned out the regular taste. The greens were good. The wings were ok. I got them in hot sauce they just did not taste as I expected. They did not have much flavor and were not as firm as I like. I will say that the sides came in larger containers than I am use to at other similar barbecue restaurants. I had high hopes for this place, but the food did not really deliver. I hope that it wa sjust an off day and am willing to try this place again.

The snacks (Shanghai lumpia) are sooooo good, reminding me of the trays my Tita used to get from the local Filipino catering spot for family events. The other food is fine. It gets worse every time I go. My order is constantly messed up and every time I go to order, I'm made to feel like I'm bothering them. Lol

I went to Mix and Mingle: Coffee and Lounge on a Friday night for my cousin's birthday, and overall…read morethe vibe was really nice. First Fridays are clearly a big deal there because the place was packed, the Gogo band was good, and the atmosphere was fun. I ended up sitting at the bar instead of getting a table and ordered a drink for myself, a drink for my cousin, and some shrimp. The food and drinks were actually good, so I can definitely see why people like coming here. What frustrated me was the pricing and gratuity situation. After looking at the menu, I saw it mentioned a 20% gratuity for parties of four or more, so I didn't think that applied to me since I was sitting at the bar with no table. I even asked the waitress if I could order food at the bar and she said yes, but nobody explained there would still be an automatic gratuity added. The drinks were $12 each and the bang bang shrimp were $13, so I was confused when my total came out to almost $50 and not realizing I added additional to the tip. I had to ask for the receipt multiple times before I finally saw the gratuity charge unbeknownst to me. I think the restaurant/menu needs to be a lot more upfront and clear about when gratuity is automatically added... and that's whether it's for First Fridays, live bands, bar service, or anything else. Being surprised by service fees, automatic gratuity or any hidden fee not clearly mentioned, for me, can leave a bad impression even when the food and atmosphere are good. As a small business, there are already stereotypes and complaints people make about hidden fees and pricing, and situations like this unfortunately don't help that narrative. With that said, I still plan to come back because I genuinely enjoyed the music, food, and overall vibe. I just wish the pricing and gratuity policies were communicated more clearly from the beginning... especially in this economy!

Was excited to see seeded watermelons and seeded grapes! We also grabbed some jelly's and apple butter. The Apple Butter took me back to Sunday mornings breakfast at Grandmas. The woman who checked us out was an absolute delight, warm, funny, and exactly what you hope for at a local farm stand. Unfortunately my experience in the herb section was the opposite. When I asked about strawberry plants and was told they didn't have any, I mentioned I was a first time gardener and asked if she could recommend something beginner friendly. Her response was essentially "just pick something, all you have to do is water them." When I explained again that I was new and looking for guidance, she told me she couldn't help me. As a first time gardener trying to learn, that kind of dismissiveness was discouraging. If it weren't for the lovely woman at checkout, I likely wouldn't return. I ended up going to Ed's Plant World in Brandywine where the staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful to a beginner. The difference was night and day. That said, I'm giving 4 stars because the place is really awesome in terms of selection and variety. The woman in the herb section may have just been having a bad day. It's absolutely worth checking out.

Yo girl been trying to eat a little healthier and was looking for some baked or grill fish. This restaurant did deliver. The grill tilapia and broccoli was pretty good. The portion size was on point. My son wanted their crab cake burger which I had to taste and it was delicious. They offer mumbo sauce with their fries and it is banging. Got a nice little kick to it. The corn on the cob is so so. Its not bad but I just had better. Its too greasy for corn on the cob too. So confused about that. Any who, I spent $40 for everything which was reasonable for 2 meals. I will definitely be back to try other menu items. The cashiers here are super friendly which is always appreciated because its seems like people are losing basic manners. So thanks ladies for your kindness it didnt go unnoticed. Would I recommend this restaurant, yeah I would. Its not spectacular but its pretty good and you get enough food for the price. That itself is worth it. So go and visit so we can keep restaurants like this open in our community.

4.5 stars. I cannot…read moreoverstate how friendly the staff here is. Very welcoming, very patient, very kind. Set a really great tone for my visit. There are surprising number of chicken options here for a place called, "This Is Seafood", but not quite as many seafood options as I hoped. I was really looking forward to getting an order of fried scallops for lunch and I was a little disappointed they didn't have them on the menu. I decided to get the Combo #4: 3 whole wings, 6 fried shrimp, and my choice of 1 piece of fish and side dish. For my fish, I chose fried catfish and for my side I chose hush puppies. The combo also came with a fountain drink. I decided to mix their house-made lemonade and house-made iced tea and it made the perfect half-and-half. The wait wasn't too bad, as the food was being freshly made. It was piping hot and crispy when I received it. Those shrimp were huge! Some of the biggest fried shrimp I've ever had...And not those butterfly shrimp either. Whole shrimp, and the tail was removed so I didn't have to worry about accidentally crunching on one of the shells. The catfish was delectable! Perfectly seasoned, delightfully crispy, and absolutely melted in my mouth. So good. I'm coming back for the catfish if nothing else. The wings were perfectly fried, nice and crispy, but they were a bit too light on the seasoning for my taste. And the mumbo sauce tasted too similar to barbecue sauce. I did not like that, so I ended up saving the rest of the wings until I got home to put my own mumbo sauce on them. The hush puppies were also really good. I like that they were fried perfectly and weren't greasy... Even after reheating them. Overall, my lunch cost me about $25 and it was enough food for at least two meals. Can't beat that. I'll be back for that catfish.

First, let me say I like this place. However, I've only done carryout. It's always clean and homesome. One night I stumbled upon a book club meeting in the restaurant. Local poets/writers were sharing their work which was quite impressive. The food is consistently decent and seemingly fresh. I particularly like the catfish and greens. And now it's the greens that I want to address. You get a very small portion as a side dish. I think it's $8. At least twice I've witnessed the person preparing the greens to-go realize they needed to put more greens and less juice. Well today topped any other day as far as the portion of greens I received with my dinner. In the attached pics, it's a large piece of skin that came out of the small container of greens and a picture of what was left once it was removed. That's it. That's the review. Smh

Unfortunately, I was highly disappointed with the food quality. The chicken wingettes were burnt, and the crab hash was overwhelmingly covered in Old Bay seasoning. Had I not been rushing, already home and between meetings, I would have returned the entire order.
