We hired Timeless Stone and Granite to install two quartz countertops in our home. When the job was…read moredone it was apparent that there were serious errors in the installation of both counters and the owners agreed to remedy the situation. After a five-month period, they returned to fix the mistakes and at that time advised they couldn't correct one of the issues and said it wasn't their fault as it was due to an existing issue with the original counter top. It was obvious to us that it was their error and it is a significant mistake. The second issue was fully rectified but in the process, the employees did extensive damage to our walls and stair handrail. There was no offer of professional remediation, only the owner patching the holes himself. In addition, because there was a five-month delay in dealing with the errors the quartz we had originally chosen for one vanity was no longer available to Timeless Stone & Granite and we were forced to choose an alternate pattern. The service was slow but quite friendly until the issues arose. Then we couldn't get phone calls or emails returned. The ultimate outcome is we had to settle for a substitute pattern for one counter top and the other counter is installed incorrectly. Unfortunately, this counter is the focal point of the kitchen. We also have to have our walls and handrail repaired at our own expense (unless we settle for an amateur repair job done by the owner rather than having the damaged walls fully and professionally repainted to avoid obvious repair areas). We are extremely disappointed with this company and would definitely caution anyone considering using them. The quality of the craftsmanship displayed in our renovation project was at best average. Our experience was that there was an overall lack of professionalism and that Timeless Stone & Granite does not fully stand by their work.

Ok, cutting boards are something I never really thought about before finding out about Legacy Wood…read moreCrafts. I thought you just buy a cheapo board at the cooking supply shop, or if you want to splurge you pay a bit more. A no brainer. That was until I saw these boards! These folks make the most unique and interesting cutting boards I have seen. You really have to see the beautiful figured maple boards, where every piece is unique. The boards are hand oiled with 100% tung oil and a cheese cloth, yielding a perfect food safe surface that lasts a really long time. They go by the name "Maple Magic" as well. They started out by using salvaged fir scraps that were left after milling huge beams in BC that were used for temples in Japan. They then expanded into using Western Broadleaf Maple as well. They dry the wood without using a kiln in natural dehumidification rooms. They do all of their milling on a small kerf band mill to reduce waste. You can sometimes find them setup at various Farmer's markets around town. I got one of their large boards about 2 years ago, and have been incredibly happy. It has 3 smooth sides, and 1 side that is left with natural rough edges that have been waxed. It is an incredibly unique piece that everyone that sees it comments on. But every piece they have would get the same comments. Really nice products! They also guarantee the boards and will even re-sand them for you if they get too chopped up over the years of usage. Haven't needed to do that yet, as it holds up really well to a very sharp chef's knife. I love these boards!

This store is a life saver!…read more We are contractors and had a job on Orcas Island. We had never been to Orcas before and were unfamiliar with the area. Before we set out for the island, I looked up local hardware stores (just in case). I found Island Hardware & Supply, called them to make sure they would have what we MIGHT need, hopped in the truck and got on the ferry. OF COURSE it turned out that we DID need some items, so we set off for the Hardware store. We got lost and ended up at the little hardware store in East Sound - we thought we were at the right store, but they didn't have any of the supplies we needed. We were pretty confused until I found out from a local resident that the little hardware store in East Sound is on North Beach Road, and the big hardware store (Island Hardware) is on West Beach Road. So we hopped back in the truck again, and set out to find Island Hardware. (yes, we got losat again...but eventually figured it out) We were so relieved when we located the store and were able to purchase the supplies we needed, because we were thinking that we would have to get on the ferry and drive to the home depot in Mt Vernon (that would have taken forever). Island Hardware had all the stuff we wanted, lumber, tools, big bolts, lag screws, plumbing supplies etc. They even have a couple of little gas pumps which was handy for us. We had the occassion to go back up to Orcas for round two of the job which was exterior painting. The paint we purchased needed to be re-tinted at the last minute. We remembered that Island Hardware had a paint department and took the buckets of paint to them with our fingers crossed. Even though we didn't buy the paint from them, they happily re-tinted it for us...I thought that was pretty generous and excellent customer service!
