My father and I took this tour and it was amazing!We loved the history and the different spots we got to stop at during the tour. There was a lot of walking and a lot of standing in place, but it was worth it to hear the stories! Our tour guide was so passionate and very informative. You could tell he really loved his job, and we loved hearing him speak. As for the "ghost" aspect, the tour was more about hearing some history and different experiences then coming to a personal conclusion on whether or not it was paranormal. When it comes to ghosts I'm not just a skeptic. Fact is I just don't believe in them, that they exist or any other supernatural stuff. Despite that, I can't say that I didn't find this tour interesting and tour guide to be extraordinarily knowledgeable and exceptional in that the tour didn't involve anything I would term to be outright flimflammery or trickery. Indeed our tour guide was very real about everything, so all I can say is that though I can't really explain what I saw or what others said they saw, heard or encountered during the tour. Suffice it to simply say that my conclusions differed from his as well as those of the others on the tour. We started off at night, 10:00pm o'clock, and went on until midnight which are the hours the times that ghosts are supposedly more up and about. Of course those hours are also spookier, when the human mind is more given to various imaginations. As Gettysburg was once a battlefield in which thousands were killed, actually outright slaughtered, it has supposedly become haunted with ghosts of the past. At the commencement of our tour we were given a piece of string with a lead fishing sinker attached to it. By holding it out, it was supposed to begin swaying, which it did, indicating the presence of some sort of spirit. I can't it explain why it did sway, but it did, and when it did you were to ask certain questions with yes or no answers. For the answers a forward/backward sway was to mean yes and crosswise sway no. Indeed, when hold in out, my string did begin to sway, but then again my hands aren't the most steady and though everyone else swore that the sways of their strings were actually responsive to the questions they asked, I seemed to be the one person out, more or less getting nothing but random sways. The tour guide also had a certain other radio frequency like device that was to produce a sound so that one could audibly speak with ghosts along with LED like light indicators to indicate the proximity of a ghost being near. Our tour took us to a house, where during the Battle of Gettysburg, Union soldiers were said to have controlled one side of the house with Confederate soldiers in control of the other side, apparently making it a sort of ground zero for a gun fight with them firing at each other through and around the house. We were encouraged to use our cameras and if the pictures showed white spots, those were said to indicate the presence of ghosts. I did take some pictures and indeed some of them showed unexplainable white spots, but whether or not those spots could actually be attributed to ghosts, I haven't a clue. We later proceeded along a dark trail close to what was to have been a battlefield area. Here the tour guide and others used the electronic device. I did hear some sounds, I did see the LED's light up, were convinced that they could hear and understand the voices of ghosts, I didn't hear anything except static or white line type sounds. That is except on one occasion wherein someone asked a ghost his name and I clearly did here the response of "Zeth," and when asked his age, did hear what sounded like "nineteen." But, just because that was what it sounded like, I can't jump to the conclusion that what I heard was actually a name, Zeth, or an age, nineteen; it just sounded like that. All in all it was a very interesting tour, I really enjoyed and in an odd way enjoyed conversing with those who were true believers in ghosts and spirits of the night. For only $15 we got a sightseeing trip to the other world we met at 10 o'clock and walked through some of the most haunted places in Gettysburg also we took a trip to the battlefield and cemetery where we Encountered unusual activity our guide had several instruments that lit up like a Christmas tree and we did see several lights on his instruments plus he had one instrument that we did hear communication turns out we were in contact with Seth a 19-year-old from the Union Army our guide Jim was also a medium and gave us some very unusual information about Gettysburg. I had so much fun on this tour. Our guide was great, super nice and engaging. I liked the history lesson and the prospect of contacting the deceased. We used dowsing rods and an electrical meter to see if someone was around. When he used the rods to ask who the person wanted to talk to and it pointed to my boyfriend, I got goosebumps everywhere. Also I had been sick, with a cough and my chest was hurting. When we came to the park it felt as though my chest was being touched by a warm hand or a warm blanket was being wrapped around my back and shoulders. I felt that for the longest time without saying anything and that's when our guide said there was a little girl who passed from pneumonia right across the street from where we were. We had encounters with two spirits that night. The warmth lasted until I got back to our hotel room 45 minutes away. The next day I felt better and have been recoverong since. I'll take the help I received from the spirit. This was a great tour. No frills, no scare tactics, just history and good times. read more

Great tour for a great price only $8 per person. I highly recommend it if your ever looking for something to do one evening. I had Tiffany as a tour guide on a couple different occasions and never have had a bad experience. The tours sound scary but really aren't it's well worth the price. Very informative with facts and history about Gettysburg and the battle also with a good mix of paranormal. Took the ghost tour and had a really good time. Our guide was knowledgeable, entertaining, gave a good historic background, and was able to answer questions. The tour didn't go far from the meeting point at Dobbins house, but I didn't expect a late night walking tour with a large group of people to venture off into the wilderness miles away. The tour guide had several EMF readers as well as dowsing rods and a white noise detector which we used to communicate with the spirits. I'm a skeptic about the whole ghost thing but as long as you let yourself have fun and get into the entire experience it's a good time. Very reasonably priced also. read more

We took the Sleepy Hollow Ghost Tour starting from the Dobbin House Tavern on Steinwehr Ave in Gettysburg. Our tour guide Tiffanie was excellent. She had the right balance of history, facts and storytelling that made for an entirely enjoyable evening. The price of tickets ($8 a piece) seemed like a steal for the amount of time and quality of tour we got. Highly recommend this tour and would definitely do again! Attempted the ghost hunt guided by Sleepy Hollow Ghost Tour, and personally left a stronger believer than I was before. Our guide was very interesting and experienced in the paranormal as he explains he followed paranormal activity previous to being a Sleepy Hollow tour guide as well as trained with the experts to become a skilled medium. He provided EMF detectors, dousing rods, pendulums, as well as a ghost box (which scans radio frequencies as to provide white noise for the manipulation of ghost to speak through). The dousing rods worked, as well as the pendulums but what really was exciting was that at one point the EMF detectors were going off the charts and the spirit box started talking to us. I took a picture as we were getting communication through the spirit box where you can see an orb shooting towards the box in our guides' hands (also note my camera would not focus). read more

I've only been on one other tour like this. I don't remember the name of the man who we went with but he was an adorable older man who took us around town. We stopped near many buildings and houses where he gave us the history of the place and then told a few ghost stories. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. read more

While visiting Gettysburg for the night, we decided to go on a ghost tour. Sleepy Hollow had good reviews, so we chose to do the 10 pm ghost hunt. We could tell five minutes in that this tour was going to be a complete dud. As soon as our guide claimed to have spirits "attached" to him, we knew this would become a crutch later on. First, let me clarify that the majority of my group believes in the paranormal and went into this with open minds and senses. Two of our group have shared a home with a spirit for twenty-four years. However, as the night went on, we all lost faith in the tour and actually left before it was finished. This is saying A LOT because I dropped $75 for my group and I always want to get my money's worth. However, after traipsing through parking lots, fact checking my guide's stories on my phone only to find them horribly inaccurate, and being told that, if we walked along pavement, we would encourage abuse from vengeful spirits (this was mumbo-jumbo made up by our guide so we wouldn't come within 50 feet of competing tours) we just gave up. When using a pendulum, we could see the guide's hand moving to make the stone circle. He always had some excuse for equipment failure. There seemed to be actors in our group (a little girl that the guide's scamp of a "pet" spirit seemed to have taken a liking to and the only man to get any sort of readings at any stop.) It also seemed pretty disrespectful to any spirits that may have ACTUALLY been in the area. The whole helping to cross over bit was just too much. We should have known better than to feed something that capitalizes on the dead. We decided not to bother contacting the manager based on responses to reviews on tripadvisor.com. All they do is say we should have contacted them immediately after the tour and that they will basically not be doing anything to fix complaints because apparently improvements have expiration dates. They also refuse refunds and offer free tours instead (like we would want to do that again). This is a pretty cheap was of getting around refunds as most people are out of state tourists who would probably not make a special trip to take a tour they didn't like to begin with. They also make references to being on the cover of a local paranormal magazine in several responses as if it actually means anything. All in all, it was a huge let-down, a waste of money, a waste of time, and pretty disrespectful to the actual spirits that inhabit Gettysburg. We've basically accepted our loss, but hopefully this review prevents others from being scammed in the future. This is a bad pick. read more

I participated in the "Ghost Hunt" and was quite disappointed, as the tour was over sensationalized and much of it was conducted in an alley near a dumpster. I went into the tour hoping for a bit of history and to be taken to off-the-beaten-path, or at least locally known locations to try to connect with the spirits. Though some EMF detectors were supplied, there was nothing more, contrary to what the advertisement indicates. The guide spent the first twenty minutes telling obviously embellished/likely untrue stories of his recent encounters, then the following thirty minutes in the well-lit adjacent parking lot behind a doctors office next to a dumpster in an alley, because that is where he has had "significant activity." Of all the places to go in Gettysburg, this was extremely disappointing! We then walked across the road to a school with an adjacent wooded area on the skirts of East Cemetery Hill. This was a much more appropriate place, but the guide talked way too much, and it was clear he was uninterested in venturing too far from the Dobbin House (meeting location). Overall, I would recommend this for those looking for a social hour and to hear desperate stories in an attempt to thrill naive tourists not looking to venture very far on foot. read more

This tour was great! It was fun and extremely interesting. I learned a lot and our tour guide Alexandra was fun and interesting to listen to. Her stories and experiences kept us wanting to know more. She made sure to tell us what to look for when looking for ghosts. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys learning about the history of Gettysburg and some of the ghost in the town. It's a family friendly tour as well. read more
