The shop was lovely and had a great vibe about it so I decided to schedule a tattoo appt here to get a little MJ piece. Unfortunately, I didn't have that same amazing experience. During our email communication, I was told that the piece would only take an hour and that the artists hourly rate was $200. The tattoo only ended up taking 30 minutes but when I went to checkout, the artist rang me up for $250 on a design that wasn't modified at all from a web search I did. I'm all for paying for skills and years of service but I was really thrown off that the total was different than discussed previously. I brought that up and she changed it back to $200 but I thought that was a very weird thing to do. Overall, I'd return for piercings, if I wanted more, but I don't think I'd return for a tattoo.

I couldn't have asked for a more compassionate attentive interaction with everyone there. AND to top it off, I was a walk in. ‍ I am SURE my tat was waaaaay below their level. But it was super important to me-I've been planning it for a year to commemorate the passing of my fur soulmate, my best friend & constant companion of 14 years, Sparky. I just wanted the simple Picasso dachshund-nothing fancy. I wanted it small with thin lines. BH was my artist, he took me seriously, took time with me & made sure we were on the same page. Here, they pierce with integrity, they educate before, during and after. If there's a risk or problem, they tell you. They really make the process as efficient, clean, and painless as possible. I truly appreciate the knowledge. We learned that one of my friends has a slightly deviated septum, while another has one ear that would best fit a rook piercing, but all three of us agreed that this experience with Meagan was a 10/10 experience. After experiencing the aftercare from my septum with another piercing, I'll definitely be back if I'm looking for any other piercings. Just be mindful of the limited parking--it is Westheimer after all!

I've been coming to Assassin Tattoo Studio since 2024, and unfortunately, my most recent experience…read moregetting my rook pierced by Jun was extremely difficult. There was a language barrier between the piercer and me, and someone from the front had to translate for us to communicate. I repeatedly tried explaining that I had scar tissue in the area, but I didn't feel like my concerns were fully understood. During the piercing, he was very rough and held my ear extremely tightly with the clamp. My friend was there and noticed that my ear had become very swollen and was turning red/purple while he was clamping it. I have a high pain tolerance, but this was incredibly painful. I have been through a fair share of piercings so I knew that wasn't okay. The needle wasn't going through, so he got another needle that was bigger. Throughout the process, my ear was being held so tightly with the clamp that the pain became even worse. Later that evening, the bottom ball of my jewelry came loose. My ear was already extremely swollen, and I spent the night trying to keep the jewelry in place. Thankfully, it stayed in overnight. I returned to the studio the following day with the loose ball. The receptionist, who is also a piercer, told me that the same piercer could screw it back on. I asked if I could speak with a manager because I wanted to share my concerns regarding the safety of my experience, not simply complain or get anyone in trouble. Unfortunately, the manager wasn't available, so I explained what happened to the receptionist instead. The same piercer tightened the jewelry, which was uncomfortable because my ear was still very sore and swollen from the previous day. Afterward, I felt uncomfortable with the interaction because he appeared upset and seemed to be raising his voice toward me while I was leaving. Due to the language barrier, I couldn't understand what was being said, but the situation made me feel uneasy. I was given a discount in the end, which I appreciate. However, that doesn't change how the experience made me feel. I understand that piercings can be painful and that scar tissue can make the procedure more difficult. However, I believe communication, patience, and client safety should always be priorities. I've supported this studio for a couple of years, so it's disappointing to say that I no longer feel comfortable returning. I wasn't looking to cause problems or make anyone uncomfortable. I simply wanted my concerns to be heard and taken seriously. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling the opposite.

She checks up on you throughout it to make sure that you're comfortable and depending on which service you're receiving, will apply topical numbing cream throughout the process to reduce any pain. When the service is done, she also checks up on you after a couple of days or weeks to ask how your healing is going and I commend her for that as not very many people put that much care into their work. Well, I tried numerous times and I am extremely disappointed I have been completely ignored. You can read my previous review, and this was the reason we returned. The experience and work we received on our visit 2/2/2023 was horrible. I have uploaded photos, which I also sent to BK hoping for some response or willingness to make it right. Total cost ended at $3,400!! If the work reflected the "top artist" work we were promised, I would not blink an eye having to pay that. However, pictures will show the work provided was subpar and did not follow stencils and pictures properly. How we have been treated after spending that type of money and traveling across the states does not reflect the "family" aspect portrayed through their social media everyday.
