Pat fixed it and even cast a few "magical spells" on the old computer to see it through an extended trip for me. A month ago, the laptop gave up the ghost again and Pat suggested that it was not worth fixing. I bought a new laptop from him, at a more than competitive price, and he did a superior job consulting on what suited me best and transferring all files, data and misc. from the old unit to the new one. I've seen first hand what hackers can do to a business or an individual. So, when I come across a business with questionable practices and with access to do lots of damage the risk is too high to do business with them. Perhaps Meade just likes to overcharge. Perhaps they just like to sell used equipment to senior citizens at astronomical prices. I worry if this is the extent of it. My pc has an overheating issue. They have a "30" day warranty and I brought my pc back 3 times during this period.
