    View from 11th floor.

Come for the view not the service. Drinks take 15 minutes so order the next one when they deliver your current one. But the view is spectacular. Amazing sunset as well. Food is pretty decent. A little pricey but to be expected in a big city / hotel bar. It sits on top of the Doubletree Centraal Station.

So I flew solo all the way to Amsterdam to see fireworks and mingle amongst the beautiful people & festivities here and 50% sadly disappointed in this place. Sunday evening, I discovered the best view from 11th floor of the SkyLounge floor inside the DoubleTree by Hilton located near Amsterdam Centraal Station. Sunday night, I enjoyed the drinks, entertainment from various artist w/DJ, ambiance & gorgeous view through the night so much that I returned 2 more times. Monday for cocktails and again on New Years w/a plan to spend my NYE cheersinging trying to video the fireworks on the patio lighting up the sky. Upon my arrival, I Enjoyed a few drinks & light bites downstairs listening to the DJ. After hearing the music was not as enjoyable at my very 1st visit...I noticed that there were events going on but, thought I could try my luck to see if they would grant me the opportunity to quickly go in to video the fireworks but, I was refused and frowned upon. I attempted to stress that I flew all the way from US to see fireworks and that they could of hold my belongs and I would run and out to balcony, give me less than 5mins and I would come right out. However a Manager by the name Mark, strongly denied me access stating that without a ticket I couldn't. I advised him that I flew all the way here, I spent money at this establishment 3days straight but, he said they have strict rules and he could not do that for everyone. I advised him I am by myself and again that I did not plan to stay just wanted videos if the fireworks...he then said..."there's nothing to see, there are no fireworks being popped that's fog. I advised him that there were fireworks that I seen from the bottom floor but, he didn't care. Shocked by his carelessness attitude and non-compassion for traveling patrons (that had spent money at this place 3days straight)...I stated that I felt he was not given me ANY hospitality. His only reply was...the usual I don't give a care reply..."Well I'm sorry you feel that way". I replied and said "no your not and that's fine because, I'll be reviewing you. I left got on elevate to leave and when I got off the elevator he then said "enjoy your evening". I took the high road because, like I said...I knew he didn't care and he clearly communicated exactly that to me. Called me a driver and left and as I type I am at another location where I will continue patronizing another business that welcomes my money.

Wanted to try this place because people keep mentioning it. Wasn't that special It took a million years to get one drink and they forgot the food order, had to re-order, another long wait only to get some tasteless nachos that didn't even have any cheese on them. I guess you pay for the view cuz it def ain't the experience lmao

Love the Sky Bar because of the 360 degrees views of the city, specially at night. The who is who in Amsterdam hangs out here once in a while. They do have a DJ in the weekends. Lots of dates and business deals are happening in this place. Drinks a little more than what you pay in other places. A martini could run around $22. The service is great, even when is crazy busy. The menu for appetizers is very small but, it is not your typical bar food.

Excellent view of Centraal Amsterdam from the SkyLounge. A very young crowd though but excellent food and music.

Nice rooftop and views of Amsterdam. Drinks and service is lackluster but it is a fun place to chill with friends on a summer day!!

We had an okay time getting drinks here. The view doesn't really capture the beautiful and magical quality of Amsterdam imho. The drinks are overpriced, but we knew that going in. Service was very slow due to the popularity of this place. My husband got his beer right away, but it then took 30 minutes for me to get my cocktail. It was very, very hot inside probably because of some kind of greenhouse effect going on with the glass walls. Unless the AC was broken, it really should have been on. Lastly, complimentary popcorn seemed to land on every table surrounding us, but I had to ask for some. Maybe they didn't like us lol. Positives include super friendly staff, a huge cocktail menu, and strong and tasty drinks.

The views and drinks are phenomenal.... But that's about all. I came here once for lunch and once at night just for cocktails. The service at lunch was slow (it was a Friday afternoon). The restaurant seemed to be understaffed. We sat outside on the terrace and waited quite a long time to be greeted. Our drinks and food came out quickly. Our food was quickly thrown down and the staff member ran off before we could even order more drinks. No one ever stopped by after that. As we waited to pay (which felt like forever), I watched as the table next to me waited 15 minutes just to be acknowledged. The food was average, but was extremely expensive for what it was. At night this place has a great vibe. Lounge-like with a DJ, the crowd is young, dressed up and attractive. We were able to get cocktails at the bar pretty quickly and wandered outside. It was really busy at night, but it again appeared that they were understaffed. Dirty glassware everywhere. People everywhere trying to flag down what seemed to be the only person working the entire outside. Order one of their speciality gin and tonics. They are strong and delicious! Then, find a seat and enjoy the beautiful view!

I found out about SkyLounge through my Fodor's travel guide (yes, I still buy travel guides and I love them. Don't judge). Its main draw was an amazing view of Amsterdam. My boyfriend and I happened to be the area (it's near Central Station in the Double Tree) and needed a break so we decided to check this place out. It was a Sunday at around 4 pm and a really nice day. So naturally, the rooftop was packed. No chance in getting a seat (or even standing room) there. We scoped out the indoor seating, which was also full but got lucky when a couple left, so we managed to nab their table. Since we weren't very hungry and saving stomach room for dinner later, we decided to just do drinks. We ordered the cocktail that came in a skull. You can have the bartender make it however you want - i.e. strong, not too sweet, not too fruity, whatever - they'll customize it for you. I don't remember what we had but it had orange and dragonfruit. It didn't taste strong but it deffo gave us a buzz! It cost about $55 for 4 drinks. If you do go with option, ask for less ice because I feel like the majority of the drink was ice cubes. The drinks aren't so special that you can't get them anywhere, and it's pretty pricey. It's also a little loud in there so it isn't the type of lounge for a quiet conversation. At SkyLounge, you're really just paying for the view.

Super expensive for what it is. Wasn't anything fancy And wouldn't go back. Plus side is that they give you popcorn with drinks.

Amazing view of Amsterdam. Tasty drinks. Friendly staff. Everything it was perfect. Great place to stop for a drink. The atmosphere is awesome. An absolute must if you're visiting Amsterdam!

Want to experience some of best views of Amsterdam? then definitely check out this rooftop. I was blown away by the view of this place, try to make it before sunrise and you will have some amazing pictures to take home with you. This rooftop is located inside the Doubletree Hotel. The lounge area gets very packed, so plan ahead and try to snatch a table. If you plan to seat outside, don't worry..they provide you with complimentary red blankets for those cold days. The prices can be steep, but you are pretty much paying for the view and the ambiance. During this visit, we tried the tuna roll and stir fry prawns and both dishes were very good. Drinks are steep as well, but worth the experience.

The decor was very nice as well. I didn't try any food there. Now it comes to the important part of the review. It's all about the cocktails. I got the Beeswax Old Fashioned(17 Euros). It was very good and a nice twist on an old fashioned. My second drink was the Paradiso Manhattan(17 Euros) and it was a tasty cocktail with something extra. It came with a piece of chocolate that was made with mushroom powder. They paired well together. I can't give it five stars for one reason. The drinks were very good, but they were a little weak. I felt very little to nothing after my second drink. I'm not a big drinker and I have a low tolerance for alcohol. The drinks need to be a little stronger. More of a kick to them. I would still recommend Super Lyan to anyone that has the pleasure of visiting Amsterdam on holiday.

Carlota who answered the doorbell, was able to accommodate us at the bar (our preferred seating anyway). She took our coats, placed them in the coat closet up front and led us inside. Once seated, we were given gorgeous ruby red complimentary aperitif (hibiscus, honey, ginger). The drink menu is interesting, based on the concept of growing up, with more basic tastes to start and more mature complex tastes later on in life. (The drinks are more complex the later in the menu). I ordered the Awake at Last, and my husband ordered the Ruby Stone. Mine was sweet and coffee flavored and his was more tart and sour cherry flavored. When I tried his drink, I immediately felt nostalgic because it reminded me of umeboshi (pickled plum in Japanese food), so we ended up trading drinks. Both were great for supping. Sitting at the bar was fun, watching the bartender at his work. He was silent, focused, skilled, professional. So glad we checked it out! I didn't post pictures of the entrance or inside because I'll leave it to you to discover! (The fun of a speakeasy).

Most of the establishments looked pretty quiet and dead except for Smokey and the club next door. Since we weren't in the mood for clubbing, we decided to go to Smokey. The moment we walked in, I noticed that it totally lived up to its namesake and was totally... smokey. Too smokey. It almost seemed like there was a fire going on inside. The place was pretty packed and busy, but we managed to snag a little bar table by the door. It was next to the vending machine for ciggies and under a large clock, so I could keep tabs on exactly what time it was. :) I sat on a high bar stool by the wall, while my bf sat with his back towards the room. It wasn't the best position for him to be in, as people kept bumping into him as they were walking by. He got a beer, and I ordered a mint tea because I didn't feel like drinking any more alcohol. I loved how the mint tea came with tons of fresh mint leaves. Totally awesome. They also gave me a Pickwick English tea bag with it, which I didn't bother to put in, as I didn't want any caffeine so late at night. We left after only one drink, as we were tired and the place was too smokey to hang out for long.

Let's just say I observed certain recreational activities in Amsterdam that I think the world should know about. Amsterdam is brand spankin' new to Yelp, after all. So they need all the reviews they can get. Smokey's is smack in the middle of Rembrandt Square, which is a haven for tourists. The inside resembles an above ground neon-lit cave. Pool tables in the back. Music videos playing on the flat screens. Every time I hear Kid Cudi's "Memories", I think of this place. Everyone stopped what they were doing to sing along :) Tables are communal. Most patrons are college-aged. They have a zig zag vending machine and they sell pre-rolled or bagged product. According to my traveling companion, their merchandise was much more pricey than at neighboring coffee shops (like Rokerij, which is awesome), but since Smokey's is a better hangout spot in a more central location - you pay a bit more. The quality is mediocre, though. I enjoyed a 4 euro pineapple strawberry smoothie at the bar. They don't serve alcohol here though, only smoothies, which I found to be quite common in the coffee shops of Amsterdam. The folks behind the counter were pretty nice folks, too. Overall, I would recommend Smokey's for the younger crowd.
