Since then, I had been in and out of doctors' offices dealing with significant pain, multiple MRIs, and a frustrating recovery process. Unfortunately, some of the imaging wasn't even performed in the correct areas, and while everyone focused on my rib injuries, the cause of my severe lower back pain was never fully investigated. After my most recent MRI, physical therapy was recommended as an important part of my recovery. Joint & Spine Rehabilitation was one of the providers in my insurance network, and after calling several facilities with little response, I contacted Joint & Spine Rehabilitation. From the moment the front desk answered the phone, I was treated with kindness, compassion, and genuine concern. They asked thoughtful questions, listened to my situation, and scheduled me for an appointment the very next day. When I arrived, I was nervous because of the amount of pain I was experiencing. Dr. Gigante took the time to thoroughly review my rib imaging and asked whether I had ever received a lower lumbar MRI. I had not. He explained that while my ribs had sustained significant trauma, my lower spine may have also been affected by the fall. He ordered the MRI, and I received insurance approval within a week. During that first visit, Dr. Gigante also took X-rays of my pelvis and discovered that it was misaligned and that I had injured my SI joint--something that could explain the persistent lower back pain I had been struggling with for so long. Starting physical therapy was intimidating. When you've been in pain for an extended period, fear of making it worse can be overwhelming. My physical therapist, Chetali, has been absolutely amazing. She has helped me work through that fear, listens carefully to how I'm feeling, adjusts treatment accordingly, and continues to encourage me every step of the way. Dr. Reilly has also been fantastic. His adjustments have been incredibly helpful, and whenever I mention a concern or a new symptom, the entire team takes the time to listen and find ways to help.
