Honestly, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else…read more I used to come here before it became The Home Depot Emergency Center, and it was actually fantastic. Quick, organized, reliable. Whatever happened deserves its own documentary because this place is now giving portal to purgatory. My husband and I came in on a Wednesday because of a foot injury. All he needed was an X ray and someone to look at it. We spent FIVE HOURS there, and the only medical treatment he received was having his vitals taken. They brought us to the back to wait for a doctor and then seemingly deleted us from the system. Three different nurses came over at different times, asked for his name, called him by the wrong name, and then asked, "Why are you still here? We haven't seen you?" FUN FACT... I'm wondering the same thing. WHY ARE WE STILL HERE?! After about three hours of this fever dream, they moved us to the "FastTrack" area, which I can only assume was named as a joke. We then sat there for another TWO HOURS while everyone collectively forgot we existed. Again. Meanwhile, two nurses were openly talking about how badly they wanted to go home. At that point we looked at each other and said, "You know what? We don't want to be here either, girl," and walked out. Now here's where it somehow gets even better. TWO HOURS AFTER WE LEFT, they called us to ask if we were still there. I'm sorry... what? At that point I wasn't sure whether to laugh or congratulate everyone involved on creating the most immersive escape room experience in New York. Honestly, you're probably better off going to CityMD, MedRite, or asking the guy at your local bodega for a second opinion. At least someone will acknowledge your existence. I'm genuinely convinced this place is run by NYU's psychology department as a social experiment to see how much absurdity people will tolerate before they completely lose it. I wish I were kidding.

However once those scans were complete I waited on a bed in the ER hallway for over 10 hours. There were patients coming in well after me for less crucial things being given priority which was extremely frustrating to observe. Will definitely be remaining a Valley hospital client after this experience.

Urgent Concern About ER Experience at HMH Hackensack University Medical Center…read more We moved to the United States just 5 months ago, and our daughter was born here. Since we were still learning how the healthcare system works, I carefully researched and chose HMH Hackensack University Medical Center, Pediatric Center, Emergency Room, based on numerous positive reviews. When our daughter was only 2 weeks old, we made the urgent decision to bring her to the ER because her unconjugated bilirubin level was above normal. Our request was very clear -- we needed a blood test to confirm whether treatment was necessary. Unfortunately, our visit turned into a frustrating and deeply disappointing experience. We were seen by Dr. Avital Bauman, MD, who, instead of immediately focusing on our newborn's condition, spent a significant amount of time on unrelated "paperwork" -- questioning why we didn't yet have a pediatrician and calling social workers to explain the U.S. healthcare system to us. The social workers, in turn, did not address the main reason for our visit. Instead, they accused us of supposedly not taking proper care of our baby's health. Yes, perhaps we did not follow the exact steps of the U.S. healthcare system, but in this situation, the child's health should have been the first priority. The correct sequence of actions should have been: examine the baby first, then explain the administrative process afterward. Because of these delays, more than two hours passed before any medical testing was even offered. For us, as parents of a two-week-old newborn, this was extremely stressful and unacceptable. We traveled all the way from West New York to this hospital with one goal -- to make sure our baby was healthy. In the end, we left the hospital without any meaningful results, only with disappointment and concern. This experience left us feeling that bureaucracy was placed above patient care, which should never happen -- especially when it involves the health and safety of a newborn. I believe this matter deserves serious attention from hospital administration to ensure that no other family faces a similar situation.
