Since we were still learning how the healthcare system works, I carefully researched and chose HMH Hackensack University Medical Center, Pediatric Center, Emergency Room, based on numerous positive reviews. When our daughter was only 2 weeks old, we made the urgent decision to bring her to the ER because her unconjugated bilirubin level was above normal. Our request was very clear -- we needed a blood test to confirm whether treatment was necessary. Unfortunately, our visit turned into a frustrating and deeply disappointing experience. We were seen by Dr. Avital Bauman, MD, who, instead of immediately focusing on our newborn's condition, spent a significant amount of time on unrelated "paperwork" -- questioning why we didn't yet have a pediatrician and calling social workers to explain the U.S. healthcare system to us. The social workers, in turn, did not address the main reason for our visit. Instead, they accused us of supposedly not taking proper care of our baby's health. Yes, perhaps we did not follow the exact steps of the U.S. healthcare system, but in this situation, the child's health should have been the first priority. The correct sequence of actions should have been: examine the baby first, then explain the administrative process afterward. Because of these delays, more than two hours passed before any medical testing was even offered. For us, as parents of a two-week-old newborn, this was extremely stressful and unacceptable. We traveled all the way from West New York to this hospital with one goal -- to make sure our baby was healthy. In the end, we left the hospital without any meaningful results, only with disappointment and concern. This experience left us feeling that bureaucracy was placed above patient care, which should never happen -- especially when it involves the health and safety of a newborn. I believe this matter deserves serious attention from hospital administration to ensure that no other family faces a similar situation.

One day after surgery they wanted to release me , I've been flat on my back for a week and spine surgery, I told them I haven't been even sitting up, so by the grace of god I had one visit from physical therapy . once I sat straight up, they released me . My wife had to put me in back seat of car where I laid down for the ride home in pain. Most of the time they would forget to bring a meal, the guy next to me ordered Uber Eats , in order to eat while in hosp. They can have the best doctors and equipment to help you but they don't care about you . Disgusting to say the least ! I would hear fights between staff in hallway about how no one would help each other ! A really bad experience, I lived , but called another doctor and went to them for final care and get stitches out. I will never go back there!

These are where the sickest patients are being treated but yet you have the least experienced staff treating them. A doctor who just finished their residency working the night shift... so very disappointing that an organization like NYU can't find more highly trained staff ... also very disappointing that an organization with this amount of money has tape holding up the windows in the ICU. Totally unbelievable. Threw all their money into sears on Franklin Ave and forgot they have an almost 600 bed hospital up the block that is in need of resources. Do better for the community. From the point of admission through surgical preparation The Nursing staff, support personnel, and anyone who dealt with me were pleasant, caring, and concerned for my comfort, and all of my needs were addressed with a smile. The physical Therapists were very cheerful and extremely encouraging of my efforts right from the start. The enviornment at Bayshore was clean, quiet and peaceful, with minimal intrusions on my sleep or quiet time. The food was good and was promptly and cheerfully delivered. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at Bayshore.

After being put in a room, a rude nurse dismissed my concerns, saying that babies can't have what I was hypothesizing. After two hours of waiting, we were still not seen. I asked the bullpen how much longer, the same rude nurse treated me like I was an idiot, told me there was more people ahead of me still, and gave me no realistic time frame. I had to feed my baby and couldn't sit around indefinitely. I walked out and took my baby to the pediatrician the next morning to find out our concerns were valid.

I checked their website to make sure they do pediatric care. Website says they do. I have a 20 month old with a 104 fever. I drove all the way there to get there when they opened only to be told they don't take kids under 2. I politely asked if there was a way she could give feedback to the company to update their website as their website does not say that anywhere. She looks straight at me and just says, "no". So either this company doesn't care enough about its employees to actually take feedback (red flag) or its employees don't care enough about the community they're supposed to serve (also red flag). It's not that hard to update your website to let people know that you DON'T in fact do pediatric care for all kids.
