Fred Anderson's Subaru - Oil leaking from filter and splattering everywhere

I've been dealing with Fred Anderson Subaru for about a year, since I bought an Outback from them…read moreas a 10th anniversary present for my wife. I've also had two routine service experiences, including this morning. Both the sales and service experiences were exemplary. I feel I got a fair deal on the purchase, and the purchase process was reasonably quick with minimal upselling. Both service visits went well, today I was in and out in under an hour for an oil and cabin filter change and tire rotation plus an annual state safety inspection. The waiting area is large, open and comfortable. I'm not usually a fan of dealership service depts, but Fred Anderson is quick and fair. Can't ask for much more.

Always trying to upsell "preventative" maintenance you dont need. Today, they wanted to charge me…read moreover $200 for fuel injection service that included "and additive to the gas tank that cleans out sludge" and $300 for rear brake pads. Ridiculous! I was in for oil change and tire rotation. I questioned why those things were needed and decided to decline service today. They told me it would be an hour and a half to 2 hours for the oil change. They must be trying to remove the oil filters with their feet and that's why it takes them so long. I dunno. Anyway, after about 10 minutes, a different "service manager " approached me to "answer my questions " which was just really round 2 of the high pressure sales push. It's so obnoxious to come here. If i hadn't purchased the stupid maintenance agreement, I would never set foot in their service dept again! I did let them align my wheels. When the service manager brought me the sheet, she explained that "red was bad." I noted my back wheels had been 10 degrees off. I commented about that and said "Woo-wee! I don't know how I was able to keep that car in a straight line!" She didn't get it. Save time and aggravation and take your car to a real mechanic that does honest work and doesn't speak to you like you are stupid. I don't need a fancy coffee machine. Thanks.

We bought a good car here but screwed up the registration and refused to call us back. They say…read morethat they are too busy. If you schedule a test drive, multiple people will call you to try to sell you financing "on the car you are going to buy." "Buy? I've got to drive it first, Buddy." They also gave us a faulty fob to operate the vehicle and told us we just needed to replace the batteries. If you test drive, be sure to set your appointments as early as possible. I think noon is the earliest window. Even if you get one at noon, you'll be waiting 30 minutes before anyone talks to you. If you make the mistake of getting one at 1pm or later, you'll be waiting for at least an hour. If you plan on buying a car, be sure they fix any issues with the vehicle BEFORE you write a check, otherwise they will just blow you off. In brief I like the low pressure, the price you see is what you pay (plus the $600 "service fee"). But like so many places, once they get your money they could care less about you. They can't call once about a problem you are having due to their negligence but if you schedule a test drive, you will have at least one person calling you every day to try to sell you extended warranty coverage or sell you a loan. You'd be better served getting a loan from a bank. This place charges you excess fees to facilitate loans.

If i could give a zero i def would! This is the crookedest bunch of people on earth! My contract…read morestated plainly my first payment would be July 27th or something like that. So flash foward to october 2025. Im literally making payments weekly. Due monthly. Well guess what-im informed if u pay early u are penalized! 15 day between payments or your fined! Wouldve been nice to know when buying said vehicle. Ok-so they try saying i owe for june. No indeed i purchased the vehicle in june yes but my payments started july! Ok so im fed up come November and i stopped paying. Owed literally for December since i payed November early and got penalized n didnt know this! I also called in October to have carmax ins crap cancelled. Maxcare or whatever cause why have it? I once took the vehicle in for brake issues when backing up and going downhill but was told brakes are fine nissan makes noises like this. Ok big safety issue, i keep driving why not let it kill me! Jan and im getting call and emails n letters in mail stating i owe 13 different prices. Call the customer care line make payment arrangement and tell lady about the letters. She lies and says carmax doesnt send letters in the mail. bs i got 17 in one damn weeek. I'm also telling her i tried canceling maxcare and the lady in brevard rd has yet to return my calls. 5 times i callwd and she gave me excuses. So i make the payment arrangement. Something said dont trust them dont pay it. Good thing i didnt repo papers were done sent and they came for my vehicle 2 days later! Take it, crash it on way i dont care. So i get calls and people breathing in the phone from carmax and im like u have ur car stop harrassing me. I literally had to threaten them with the law if i didnt stop receiving harrasment phone calls. At least if u call speak dont breathe into the phone. Smart phones tell who you are dummy. But yea if u are smart run far far far away from these people! Idk if every carmax is like this but ive never heard of q company penalizing you for making payments early. Most appreciate the gesture and thank you. Carmax is the type of company where u would prob never get ur vehicle payed off if financing cause of there dumb fees and bs rules. And the idiots who work there cant obviously do there job correctly and cancel something when asked 5 times. Read the contract in full!! Don't skip and dont sign until u read entire contract!! They charge u for mileage as well if ur car is repossessed and u wish to get ur property back as in the vehicle. If u drove 120000 miles on it since the day u purchased it be prepared to multiply those miles by 25 cents. Thats extra fees ur charged as well. Dumb!! Ur purchasing the ride not leasing the pieve of shit. Screw carmax and everyone who works on brevard rd u suck n u should be reported to bbb.

He then turned me over to the "money" guy to work out the purchase. There was no longer any such thing as 0.99% loans; but, the guy didn't tell me that the interest was 7.2% and that it was COMPOUNDED DAILY!!! I paid off the car in 8 months, but in that time, I paid about $2400.00 in interest. During the sale,mi asked about if the car came with "clear coat". I didn't ask to sell to me. I wanted to know if it was included. Time passed and I was tired and hungry and signed the papers for a car that ended up costing 12k dollars more than the list price, all tolled. Today I called about the state inspection. I'd need an appointment, and it would take an HOUR for the inspection. No, thanks!! I took is to oil change place and the inspection was 5 minutes!! Thank you to Valvoline on Sweeten Creek Rd for saving me from being robbed of an hour of my life!! My previous VW's were from Winn VW in Newark, CA. Stay Away From Nissan in General and Fred Anderson Nissan in Particular…read more I own a 2020 Nissan Leaf. I bought it used from Fred Anderson Nissan and fast charging has always been an issue as the CHAdeMO charger works well in Japan but not in the states. Since November 2024 there has been an issue with fast charging possibly leading to vehicle fire and we are unable to use a fast charger on the car. What was extremely limited (only at certain Nissan dealers) is now not possible. While a software fix was supposed to be forthcoming none has been offered. Whenever I call Fred Anderson Nissan I am told that they will call me back with an update and to date I have never received a return call. Two weeks ago I again called Fred Anderson Nissan as my sister and brother in law were visiting from Winston Salem. Although they now live only a couple of hours away, driving to see them is not possible without the ability to fast charge the car. When I called Fred Anderson Nissan the week prior I asked if it would be possible to get a new battery pack to fix the problem as I read online that some dealerships have been providing that for free to fix the problem. I was put on hold and when they got back on the phone I was told that I should bring the car in for servicing since "my battery was not holding its charge". I told her again of my asking if a battery pack could fix the problem and I was told the issue was being escalated and I would hear back from Fred Anderson Nissan. When no return call was received, I called for Nissan corporate. They offered no solution or remedy and said the question about the battery pack would be handled by the local dealer. They said they would have Fred Anderson Nissan call me back and when there is a remedy for the battery recall Fred Anderson would be in touch with me to schedule service. One week later and still no call from Fred Anderson Nissan. In fact, the only time I hear from them is through a text or call when they want to give me a great deal on a trade in for a newer car. I am appalled by the lack of concern from Nissan in general and Fred Anderson in particular. Update: The day after my wife's birthday she received a call wishing her a happy birthday. Since they have my cell phone I explained again the situation with the recall. Here is a text chain with Ashelie at Fred Anderson Nissan. A-Hey Ian! It's Ashelie at Fred Anderson Nissan. I spoke with Mark our preowned manager. He said that you would need to go into service for that issue. I-Please have him call me to explain what service I will need and if it is free. A-You would just need to call service and tell them what is going on and make an appointment. Service may be able to tell you if it is covered or not, I am not able to see what warranties/extended warranties you have. I-I am not going to set up service without understanding what the service is that I need. I-I'm waiting to hear if there is a covered remedy for the battery fire risk or if I can be reimbursed for my recent car rental. I-I don't need service I need a remedy to my problem. A-You bought the vehicle two years ago, correct? If you had came in within 30 days of buying letting them know it did not work they would have taken care of it completely. You need service to figure out why it is not working. A-No, they aren't going to reimburse you for a car rental. Unless you have a warranty that would cover that. If you have any other questions you can call and speak to service or a manager. Have a great night. I-Nissan issued a recall notice of potential fire from fast charging. They told me the problem and I am waiting for the remedy. A-Call service. 1/14/26- A week ago I called the number for the GM in response to his reply to me review. Fred Anderson Nissan of Asheville (Owner) Edited a week ago Hi Ian, we truly appreciate your feedback of Fred Anderson Nissan of Asheville. Please reach out to us at (828) 365-1617 when you can so we can address this situation directly. Thank you and have a great day. One week later and no call from him. They have never attempted to address this issue and my concerns directly. My wife did get a call from Fred Anderson Nissan in the past week wanting to have us trade in our car. I told the sales rep never to call again asking for us to buy another car from them. He said he would not this in our account. I also asked him to have the GM call me which he still has not done. Actions speak louder than words! Beware of Nissan in general and Fred Anderson Nissan in particular Ian
