I used to live here it was horrible. A lot of stuff breaks it takes forever to get stuff fixed. They trash shoot is always broken and trash accumulates in the halls and smells horrible. Please do everything not to live here!!!! read more

Daughter moved back to her furnished apartment after summer vacation to find it utterly trashed by summer occupant and her dog. Since July, contacted maintenance via the web portal, multiple phone calls, visited office personnel in person multiple times - all promised everything will be taken care of. Nope. Not. One. Thing. It is now September and they have allowed new roommates to move into this flophouse. Today there is water under the floor covering and comes out of the joints when walked on. Maintenance says they may be able to get to it after the holiday. There are 4 people living in this place and each paying more than $1500/month. The place is filled with flies (see pics) because of trash piled up in the hallways outside the apartment. I understand bad roommates, but why let people move into an apartment into this condition? They are paying for a furnished apartment and are unable to use the furnishings. I visited from the West Coast and cleaned the dump myself, dog urine, rotten food in the refrigerator, cleaned the oven and the absolute disaster of a sink. Those things I can write off to a bad roommate, but the furniture, the baseboards, the water under the floors and the flies - that's all Skygarden. It's been since July 6. This is Sept 1. Ownership needs to pay a visit and spend some time with the residents and the staff and figure out what they are doing wrong because it's a long list. DO NOT LIVE HERE! We pay $2,300 EACH a month to live here and regret nothing more. This is the worst place ever to live, on top of the absolute filth, horrible appliances, bug issues, the staff is dismissive. Never once in the year living here have we ever had helpful experience with the leasing office, they are always passive, inconsiderate, and dismissive of our issues. We haven't have a working dishwasher for +6 months, no hot water for 3 weeks, only 3 outlets work in the unit, paint fumes infiltrated in all of my furniture, fruit FLIES EVERYWHERE, in every hall, unit and elevator, ceiling leaked through and we had to get a hotel for three nights WHICH THEY DIDN'T PAY FOR, without WARNING! The first week living here they would turn off the water for 10+ hours, for at least three days. Whenever they would come home there were at least 6 workmen in there home, which they had no prior knowledge of, if you are a women in college looking for a secure place to live, this is alarming and an uneasy feeling nobody should experience in there own home. Disgusting fruit flies, cockroaches, and mosquitoes everywhere in every corner. The halls are absolutely disgusting, floors and carpets reek of stains, and never once has there been a cleaner or at least a vacuum in any area besides the lobby. Our students work 35+ hours a week to afford their rent, and are more and more disappointed every single day. We truly would advise against living here at every cost unless it is your last possible option. We had such high hopes because of the amenities and advertising, but it is all a scam. read more

Avoid Skygarden Apartments at all costs. The management here is completely unreliable and unresponsive, especially when it comes to maintenance. It doesn't matter if you have a minor issue or a major emergency--be prepared to wait *weeks* for anything to get resolved, if they even bother at all. I've had multiple maintenance requests completely ignored. What's worse is that the place lacks basic security measures. For an apartment complex full of students, and of this size, you would expect better security systems in place, but there are constantly issues that go unaddressed. Management just doesn't care and it's very concerning. Overall, Skygarden Apartments over-promises and severely under-delivers. It's overpriced for the quality (or lack thereof), and the unprofessional management just makes living here a nightmare. Don't waste your time or money--there are far better options out there. read more

Do NOT live here. I lived here for three years- the first year and a half was great, not many issues but management and maintenance was slow. Then they got a new management team. And things got 1000000x worse. It started with a fruit fly infestation due to the trash chute being clogged and infested, our apartment was directly next to the chute, meaning all of those flies came into our apartment, and infested our living space (even when we had no food or dirty dishes or garbage out at all). We spent over $100 buying things to get them out and skygarden did not help one bit. Then, my roommates and I went on a little trip for two or three weeks in the summer, and came back to a giant mold infestation in two bedrooms and the entire common space. Maintenance ignored multiple requests and messages including pictures of the infested living space. Leaving us to try to clean it. We would open tickets and they would immediately close them without even coming to look. Finally, our parents began calling every single day complaining, and it still took over a month for them to do anything about it. Then they tried to blame us and say that we should've turned the air on auto when we went out of town- even though it already was on auto and we never touched the thermostat. They brought in industrial humidifiers to our apartment that sound as loud as an airplane for weeks. Our cabinets, appliances, food, and personal items were destroyed. I lost over $1500 worth of items with no compensation from skygarden. Shoes, clothes, bedding, towels, mattress pads all destroyed. This goes for 2 of my other roommates as well. Months later, the mold returned and once again no response from maintenance, leading to more items being ruined. I have moved home, to a cold area where mold is rare, and I am STILL finding items that are covered and ruined by mold. Expensive clothing items are stained, musty, and unwearable even after stripping the fabrics. Avoid skygarden at all costs- it is NOT worth the rent they charge. Not to mention the multiple other things in the apartment that were broken and never fixed regardless of multiple maintenance requests. read more

When I first moved in, there was a team of highly engaged, and professional people in the office to move me in. I was really excited to live here at skygarden. If you are looking for a boarding school feeling dorm, this is where you want to be. If you are a young student in your early 20s, this is just about the worst place in Charleston you could live for your money. About two months after I moved in, they got a new team in the office. They have no regard for privacy. I have lived here from October to July and have now had maintenance people, and members of the office open my door in the early hours of the morning nine times now. The doors operate through e-keys, and they have master keys to open every room. They will come into your apartment whenever they like, and will be incredibly abrasive about it. Brittany Dodd's in particular is incredibly rude to all the residents and I have talked with many other residents that do not understand why she is so rude. We pay a pretty penny to stay here. She is the community manager, but since she's been here, there has been nothing but a dorm-style environment happening. If I could give their customer service one star, I would. The only individuals working here at skygarden that have any sense of professionalism is the head maintenance guy and the students who help out at the front desk and on the Instagram. If you would like to drop a large amount monthly on a room, have SkyGarden employees come into your apartment(with no notice, and no knock) which is a violation of any lease at skygarden, and step in dog piss and or throw up every morning in the elevator, this for sure is the place for you. But id suggest getting your own form of lock for your door. Lastly, no skygarden employees wear masks or practice any CDC recommendations for coronavirus and if you are interested in staying healthy, this would not be the place for you. It really is disappointing because the team that moved me in was awesome, learned my first name, and made me feel like this was a great place to live. When my daughter first moved into Sky Garden, the property was dreamy and the property manager was amazing. Over the last year, there have been multiple issues with safety (elevator inspection overdue, fire alarms going off all hours, reports of water in appliances which leads to mold) , security (no security guards or lack of attentive guards), mail delivery (not delivered for days and no notification there is something for residents at the front desk including packages with special delivery instructions), responsiveness (respond, if at all, weeks later to emails and phone calls and with poor attitude that is anything but "customer friendly"), amenities advertised are not actually available and the overall quality of living in the building has deteriorated. The building is still gorgeous because they keep painting and focusing on making it pretty so they can get leases signed and occupancy up but do not be fooled. The manager is very non-responsive and has low standards for what she believes is acceptable service for residents. The quality of living in the building is seriously compromised by the current property manager and property management company (Alpha Management Partners.) As long as the current manager is in the equation, I would not recommend signing a lease here. read more
