This review is mostly for experienced jumpers that want to fun jump. We did not experience the tandem aspect first hand. The place is very easy to find, in the middle of nowhere Michigan. We drove in from Kalamazoo and it was an easy drive. They advertise a discounted early jump. Sadly, didn't get that price so beware of that. We arrived early and the equipment check was quick. They had quite a bit of sitting areas for people waiting/watching but they were directly in the sun. The hanger is about the only source of shade there, which does make sense but you might want a hat if you'll be hanging out a while. On the skydiving/jumping aspect: The place had excellent new(er) parachutes to rent, awesome views of Michigan which included a lake and the speedway. They have fast planes and take you to higher elevations than a lot of other places. The operation was very smooth and efficient. They ran two planes alternating while we were there, so one plane every 10-15 minutes. They had tv's with an ETA of each load and ran pretty spot on. They had a large re-packing area. The observations I made for tandems: they seem to have a secluded classroom for the safety review/education. they had ample tandem instructors that seemed happy to be there and they must run a solo jump training program because I saw a few people getting one on one help on the ground prior to their jumps. They also had 1-4 tandems in most of the loads while we were there (Saturday) so quite a bit of jumpers. The equipment was also impeccable. They seemed to have someone educating students on packing as well so it appears they are ready to teach anyone at any level. read more

They prepped us for 4 hours of total time but we had good conditions so we were leaving the parking lot after a little over an hour. Really great facility and people. Skydiving was easily the coolest experience of my life. Skydive Tecumseh was a great place for my first skydiving My instructor Kyle was very informative and friendly. He made my first skydiving experience amazing. My only issue was with my pictures. I paid for the video and photo package, and while the video was great, the photos were extremely disappointing. I received no photos of my jump or while I was in the air. The only pictures I got were of my landing. I was most looking forward to the pictures of me in the air, which I unfortunately did not get. I'm not sure if my photographer forgot to turn on the camera or something else happened. Other than the photos, it was a great experience. Chasity was also very helpful with our reservation and keeping us updated on the weather. Overall, this was a truly amazing experience. read more

One of the best skydiving operations in Michigan. They are super professional and very safe conscientious. Weather is a favor in jumping, so some flexibility in when you go helps. Training is quick, but thorough. The training video is a gem I first went there when static was an option, and did that. Tandem was still fun, but I do miss static. They do a great job working to people's comfort level, so share if you want something more aggressive or need something (relatively) calmer. If you are on the fence, book it, and jump! read more

First time jumper with my sister and dad! It was a blast, we all felt very safe and educated before going into the plane. My sister got the photo video package which was pretty cool! They film you the whole way down! My guy had been skydiving longer than I have been alive so I felt really safe:) also the airplane is super nice for being a hopper plane. The coolest thing I've ever done. Had to go out a couple of times (cancelled due to high winds one day and clouds another) and re-schedule one other time (due to rain), but at the end of the day, going skydiving with my Pop for his 70th was something we'll never forget. Amber, my tandem, was fantastic, putting me at ease and making me feel safe and comfortable. Alan, my video guy was great - the pictures are unbelievable and the video is just.... I'm not afraid to say I almost chickened out. In the end I jumped out of a plane with Dom as my instructor. Scott and Dom were great with my wife and I, Dom and Scott were incredibly reassuring that everything would go perfectly fine. After speaking with both of them I geared up and got on the plane. Thank you both so much for convincing me to jump, that was probably the most amazing experience anyone could have. Once on the plane my nerves were settled, Dom and I were the first tandem team out of the plane. When we go back we plan to ask if Scott and Dom can be our instructors again. read more

My first time. I walked in off the street on a day with iffy weather and they worked me in. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the staff and it's VERY easy to do a tandem jump. You will pretty much sign your life away before the jump but looking at it from their end I understand. The upside is that the video they make you watch features a man with the most epic beard I've ever seen in an instructional film. When I was researching places to skydive for my 30th birthday, I found several that were near the Detroit area. While Skydive Tecumseh was not the cheapest, it did come highly recommended (plus, I figured skydiving is not a time to look for the cheapest price!). I decided to go with them and made the right choice. First thing you will notice is that the staff is awesome. You expect them to be friendly, but I didn't expect them to treat you like a friend, like a part of their little family. They made chit chat, told jokes, and made everyone feel very comfortable. The staff are all very experience and very knowledgable. They can answer any questions you have down to the most minute detail, and tell you the science behind everything. I did not get the video package but my buddy did. They spend time to make sure you get your money's worth. The jump was amazing. The staff did a good job explaining what to do during the jump and kept the instructions simple and easy. At no time did I feel unsafe or in danger (which is hard to do when you are jumping out of a plane!). Once they pull the parachute they make sure to give you a fun ride and not just casually glide down to the ground. All in all it was a great experience. I can't wait to go again, and I know exactly where to go when I do. read more

Awesome first-time skydiving experience! The staff were extremely friendly, relaxed, and reassuring. The "jumpmasters" all seemed to have a lot of experience (mine had ~800 jumps, another had over 5000). There's a nice little picnic area where you wait before jumping. We arrived at noon and ended jumping around 3, so it would probably be a good idea to pack a (light) picnic or something to do. The process is super easy: First you sign a bunch of waivers, then you watch a video. You get assigned a jumpmaster who helps suit you up (i think jumpsuits are optional, though encouraged--especially hot pink/flame-patterned!) and gives you some basic instructions. Then you get in a plane and jump out. It's completely awesome and much less nerve-wracking than you would think. Not scary. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED read more

Well, it took 3 tries (2 cancellations due to wind and clouds), but my friend and I were finally able to skydive this past Friday. The staff were super-friendly, and clearly know what they're doing, and I felt totally comfortable placing my life in their hands (well, as comfortable as you can ever feel doing that). To do a tandem jump, you don't really have to have any knowledge (you do have to watch a brief instructional video--and as other reviewers have mentioned, you won't forget the dude with the beard). They suit you up, you meet your partner and go over a couple basics, and once it's your turn you hop right on the plane. I was not as scared as I thought I would be, except that I kept worrying that I wasn't well-enough attached to my partner--but they don't do that until when you get close to jumping, and you will *know* that you are secure. We did some somersaults out of the plane (I was definitely screaming), and then you're free-falling just like you see in all the skydiving videos. The air is really thin and your mouth gets dry, but overall it was exhilarating. Then the parachute pops and you leisurely float back to earth--at this point you're moving slowly and it's quiet enough to have a conversation. You might have to wait a while to jump depending on the weather (they're clearly super-concerned about safety and won't take you up if there's even a chance of something not being quite right weather-wise), so I recommend bringing snacks or even a meal. If you get motion sick, I would also definitely recommend taking some Dramamine--I did and I still felt pretty woozy afterward. Also, don't plan on doing much for a few hours afterward--after all that adrenaline leaves your body, you will be sleeeeeeepy! Oh, and even though the video and still photos are an upsell, I recommend getting them, especially if you're not sure you'll ever jump again--skydiving takes guts and you should have tangible proof of your bravery :-) read more

I recommend the whole experience! We also had AMAZING WEATHER! I had an awesome time! I did the 14,000 jump with Josh, he was AWESOME! He was super nice, funny and very good with me, I did not have to adjust my goggles or anything, made me feel at ease and we laughed a lot. I wasn't really sure if I was nervous, because I was more excited but when I felt a little nervous at all he made me forget! Once you look out the door of the airplane down to the ground it is just WOW factor and then boom, your falling! The feeling is indescribable, and Josh told me right before because I asked if it feels like when you fall from a Power tower or drop ride at an amusement park or carnival and he said you wont feel that and he was right! I jumped again on the 1st of October. The wait was minimal, the instruction was excellent and i really learned a lot on my CAT C jump.

Skydiving Techumseh gave me the perfect first experience! I went alone so its not like I had a group to talk with. The girl at the front desk was super upbeat and nice! My wait in the drop zone was only an hour (when I was expecting 5 ) and my instructor, Kody, was the bomb. He was super informative but also kept the day light because I was nervous. I got the photo and video package (highly recommend) and he was making faces and giving me bunny ears but the jump was such an amazing experience that I never imagined, something that everyone should do in there life! read more

I wanted to go skydiving for the first time and was extremely apprehensive of where I should go. I looked up a variety of places but I did not hear as many good things about those other jumping sites as I've heard about Skydive Tecumseh. Although it is not the cheapest option, it was more recommended and more highly reviewed than other local jumps (besides, looking at the cheapest price when jumping out of an airplane was not my main concern). I was nervous on the drive there with the typical feeling of "this could be the end"... but that completely changed with I stepped out of the car. Everyone was in such high spirits, exhilarated, and full of adrenaline. I was ready to go. The check in process was a little slow, it just so happened my friend and I showed up at the same time as another large group of people. Unfortunately the way Skydive Tecumseh works is your jumps are first come first serve (despite the appointment process), so my friend and I had to wait about 2 hours before we got into the plane. Despite this wait we were welcomed by friendly staff and treated like family. They assured us of our safety, explained the process while harnessing us up, and discussed everything that was about to happen. I jumped with Mike and couldn't be more glad. He is an experienced instructor with quite a few jumps under his belt (to say the least). In the strangest of ways I felt safe skydiving with someone who knew what they were doing. During our fall he instructed me to adjust the harness in a way that my legs wouldn't fall asleep so I could enjoy the parachute down. It was a perfect skydiving experience and I can understand how someone could get addicted to that feeling! I will be going again in the future. read more

This place was amazing. We booked our skydive for a Sunday, about 2 weeks in advance. There were 3 in our Group. We got there, were immediately checked in, watched a video and were sent to the area to get our harnesses, goggles, etc. WE were talked to briefly by the video guy as well as the person we were tandem jumping with. They were very careful about weather, and for a short time, it seemed like rain, and they had us wait to be safe. No big deal. We then boarded the plane and flew to 14000, then jumped! It was amazing. Everyone was professional, the video and pics came out perfect, and I would totally recommend this place to everyone. LOVED EVERY SECOND. read more

I really enjoyed my first jump at 14,000 feet. I had no prior knowledge of skydiving and it was pretty simple. The initial free fall before the parachute deployed was the scariest part for me as I initially had trouble breathing. I would compare it to swimming under water with the breathing aspect. Once your chute deploys though, all is well as you float to the ground. Breathing becomes much easier. For those of you who suffer from motion sickness, take Dramine/Bonine/Meclizine before and eat lightly or not at all (like I did). I forgot to take something and I was still fine, but the experience would have been better for me has I taken one of those medications. You are strapped to an instructor at the hip and they have two chutes in case the main one doesn't work. I will be doing this again. read more
